Best bread in town. ALways a great meal. My daughter and I look forward to our date night and it always involves Boudin SF. Thank you for the great food and amazing service.

Was yhe best lunch ive had in a long time. I'll be back.
Love their butternut squash soup and spring salad with chicken!
Went to Boudin's this morning for fresh bread. I have been looking for great sourdough bread since i moved to southern California 3 years ago. The service was amazing. My 18 yr old son who had autism has been asking for one the sourdough turtles. I ordered them when i was there today and the cashier advised that they usually onky give them to kids. I explained that my son was at home and gad been asking for one. She was kind enough to giv ed us 4 as my son always makes sure everyone has I be. It wasn't until i got home that i realized she did not charge me for them. My son was so happy when i brought them home. Thank you for making today a good day for my son.
Great food and awesome staff. Thanks for a great time.
I wouldn't say they've always been packed when I've gone, but generally a decent amount of people. Can't really go wrong with soup in bread bowls, especially when the bread is so fresh.
We were recently invited to Boudin to check out their new fresh seasonal salads. Since I haven’t been eating as many greens as I’d like lately, this was the perfect opportunity turn things around. Boudin is a bakery and quick service restaurant that has roots in San Francisco, dating all the way back to 1849! There are upwards of 30 locations today and a few that call San Diego County their home. Today we were visiting the Clairemont location on the corner of Balboa Ave. and Genesee Ave. This is the same mall that is home to 85 degrees.

When Chef Skverky said Lactobacillus Sanfranciscensis is what gave Boudin's bread it's unique sourdough flavor, I thought he was joking. Sanfranciscensis = San Francisco. But no, he wasn't joking. Lactobacillus Sanfranciscensis is a kind of lactic acid bacteria that can only be found in San Francisco, thus giving Boudin's origins in San Francisco a new meaning.Â
Of course I had to order this signature dish. I normally am not a huge fan of sourdough bread, but the hunk of sourdough bread was so fluffy and fresh, and it paired well with the thick chowder. This is probably our favorite item to get at Boudin SF.
The food here is wonderful! They have a good variety of both soups, sandwiches, pizza and pastries. They have an assortment of breads foe purchase as well which is nice. The prices are fair and the service has always been friendly. My only comment for improvement would be better cleaning services in the sitting areas. Usually the booths are dirty and I've ended up on multiple occasions cleaning my own space in order to get a seat.
I don’t have any expectations for this place. But this restaurant actually impressed me. My husband and I love SF sourdough, and this is the place to go. I ordered a Cali Vegi sandwich and my husband had a broccoli & cheddar bread bowl soup and French Dip. We both loved our food, especially the bread! My husband’s soup is very nice but the French Dip was so so because the bread took over too much flavor. We also took a dinner roll back home, it was so good!
Amazing sandwiches and soups as well as a lot of salad options. The best bang for your buck would be the "Pick a Pair" deal for $12. This comes with two halves of any applicable item.
I normally do half a sandwich and half soup. You can upgrade the soup to a bread bowl for $1 extra.
Really filling meal and tastes great!
Had lunch here on a Thursday and it was very busy (had to stand in line for 5+ minutes to order), however, an employee quickly cleared a table for us to sit and we enjoyed a delicious lunch. Photos: rustic tomato soup in a bread bowl, butternut squash soup in a bread bowl, grilled cheese sandwich with a side salad.
I love the fresh bread!! Make sure to sign up for the rewards program, you get a free monthly bread. The grilled cheese with bacon, turkey and avocado and chicken Cesar salad are delicious. Food is always fresh. Don’t forget the peanut butter and snickerdoodle cookies!!! Delicious. Unfortunately, the customer service is below average. There are long lines with minimum cashiers and food prepares, very understaffed. Order online if possible. Portions are average.
Great place great food and great people had a turkey avocado sandwich that was so good it didn’t make the picture. This bread bowl you see here was also delicious. My kids loved the grilled cheese sandwiches. Jerel I appreciate the great service thanks for taking care of our needs.
The clam chowder soup in a bread bowl is great. Their bread and rolls are fresh. A little busy but nothing to complain about. Fair prices. They have other dishes like sandwiches and hamburgers.
The food here is good and of course, the sourdough is the best. I rarely have found a sourdough that can top Boudin. The customer service was above and beyond the day my wife and I went. The two young men at the front went above and beyond to help us and clarify any questions we had. Highly recommend.
Never disappoints, fell in love with boudins on pier 34 in SF and it's great to see them down here in SD. Always get the bread bowl :D and don't forget about their rewards app, if you go here once a month it's worth it. And everyone should go here at least once a month
Got the sourdough pizza for the first time. So so good. I chose the combo. Mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, black olives, red pepper, and onion. And they even gave me a few dollars off in lieu of my normal loyalty rewards free loaf of bread.
Had the clam chowder in the bread bowl. Tasted so good. I will go back for sure!!
If I could add more stars, I would. I called 14 minutes before closing, arrived 4 minutes before closing, was treated very well while I was there, and was out only 2 minutes after closing. Very apologetic for the stock they were almost out of, even when they didn't need to be. Nicest staff I've ever seen in a restaurant, by far
