Delicious food!!! Very nice people. Try the gummy bear roll ππΌ. The mira mesa roll and mexicali roll are very good too! Their fried rice is always delicious and if you can handle heat ask for the habanero sauce π.
Great sushi, and the prices rock! Buy 2 rolls get 1 free! Gotta go!
Good value. The sushi is good (not the best I've ever had, but pretty darn good), the people there have always been very friendly and you can't beat the buy 2 get 1 free deal they have all the time!
Love the Fantasy roll and the garlic edamame.
Nice sushi joint with great service. Gotta try the pizza roll and garlic soy edimame. Don't forget to have some green tea ice cream for desert.
Such a hidden gem! Went here for date night close to home and was pleasantly surprised. The sushi chef and co-owner Kim is friendly, knowledgeable, and creative in his sushi offerings. The fish is hands down fresh, the service is fast and friendly, the ambiance is clean and newly remodeled from the last owners and the prices are fair. My hubby and I will be back soon! I want to add... they are currently in a soft opening, which means they are currently working out the kinks in terms of training service staff and figuring out what they want in thier final menu, so I urge you to have an open mind and have patience when trying them out until thier official opening next month!
I was literally SHOCKED at the portion size of the sashimi! $19.99 seems like a pretty average price for 12 pc, but each piece was literally 3-4 times the size I have seen anywhere else. It also came with miso soup, a salad, and steamed rice.
My wife's house noodle soup was delicious. The large 7" bowl was full to the brim and loaded with meat and veggies.
All in all, Happy Sushi lives all to its name and provides diners with exceptional value and great service.
The sushi was amazing and reasonably priced. My only problem, the sushi looked too good to eat; we got over that very quickly...
Great food. Been coming here for a couple years now. Food is still amazing. Love Black Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen and Baked Mussels
Good sushi at a reasonable price. Always very friendly but the service can vary if it gets too busy.
Food is amazing and sushi chef is the bomb π£
Great service and loved our items. They did the garlic edamame special with gluten free soy sauce. I had a tuna roll and salmon roll - I usually prefer simple rolls because of my allergies. They were pretty AND generous sized rolls. Very reasonable price. Would totally be a repeat customer!!
After the new owners of this place just recently, this place is my favorite place in all of San Diego for the price! And let me just say I eat sushi all the time. Everywhere. Best two rolls are the mira mesa roll and the #1 roll I've ever had...the Protein Roll. Fabulous. The service is always excellent too. All smiles and quick to get your order in. Highly recommend!
They make excellent udon. The rolls are currently decently priced, but if they plan to raise their price, as their sign implies, it will be too rich for my blood. Regardless, the staff is friendly and attentive, parking is free and plentiful, and there's two tea shops in the same parking lot of you want dessert.
I do not like sushi. My husband is a fan. Happy Sushi fixed this discrepancy. With a warm greeting, comfortable atmosphere, friendly service, talented chef, excellent food, and amazing prices, you just can't go wrong here! It was a thrill to have our sushi prepared fresh for us- in our direct line of sight- while conversing with the chef. Special items were made just for me, and the "Hot Pocket" sushi was to die for. Best. Sushi. Ever.
This is my favorite sushi place in San Diego for a few reasons.
First they seem to always have buy two get one three, a buddy and I go and get four rolls and split the bill, that's a great deal.
The rolls here are beautiful, ignoring the taste for a moment every roll that comes out looks lovely, I could take a picture of any of them and hang it on a wall, though I might try to eat it...
As for taste, the food is delicious, they do a lot of deep fried rolls mind you, but I've never had a bad roll here, and I've tried almost every one on the deluxe menu.
The place is friendly as well, honestly this is my favorite spot for a lunch for a reason.
However, I only give Decor a very good because it has a sportsy feel to it, which I'm fine with but it's not amazing. If you're going for a romantic date, try somewhere else (The Joint is great). But Happy Sushi is great for a lunch time meal or a business lunch.
I went randomly for lunch one day. I was the only one there but the food was tasty. I would have like to get happy hour prices but they did offer discounts take for the grand reopening. Great service. Wish I could understand Japanese though. 5 stars
Wow, that black garlic ramen and fried oysters.
Good sushi, lots of other variety of food and amazing staff. Very cozy, always feel welcome like a guest. Got a bunch of sashimi and it was great, nice cuts of fish, fresh flavor.
Why do I give a sushi place with run of the mill sushi 4 stars? Value. Many more expensive Japanese restaurants have the same quality fish but they jack up the price because they have some self-important ambience. There are very few sushi places out there where you can get quality fish that is actually worth the price, (Sushi ota). However for my non-special occasions, or when I simply feel like sushi on a weeknight , I go to happy sushi and get a good meal for a good price.
