I am obsessed with Grants Marketplace and all of the new upgrades the new owner Jason continues to make. The food is incredible, the staff and owner are sooo friendly. It literally feel like you are stopping by your best friend's house to grab coffee and a bite to eat. They also have a fabulous wine selection, pre-made/ homemade food...I am just waiting on their wine license so my husband and I can walk over and grab a glass of wine. We dream of living in Europe one day...this is as a close as you can get to a family style, delectable, chill, cafe and market!
One of San Diego's BEST neighborhood marketplace and a real hidden gem. Great place to catch a quick lunch on the go!
Love this place. Coffee, food and place to chill
The food at Grants is amazing. Their grilled cheese with bacon is to die for awesome 👍😀

I really enjoyed this little hidden spot. Outdoor & indoor seating— serving brews & wine. They even have Booch Craft which I was stoked about. I got the California sandwich and it was awesome. Friendly service + good food / vibes.
We rode our Sofia Hotel bikes uphill to Grant's. It was well worth it. The Morning Glory is probably the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. It was delicious, very flavorful, perfect temperature, but not overwhelming.
So many restaurants give you such overwhelming portions, that you feel like you swallowed an anchor, when you leave. But I felt pleasantly full, but not stuffed, after my sandwich. When we travel, my wife and I usually split our meals. Her spinach and goat cheese quiche was also excellent.
I also appreciated the flavored coffee. Was tasteful, but not too strong.
Delicious food, friendly staff and cute setting. Feels like true local spot, wish there were more places like this one!
Awesome place a gem for South Park ran into it looking for a breakfast meal and was surprised by the quality and taste
Cute, accommodating, comfy place. Service is friendly and helpful. Food was fresh and tasty.
I tend to judge coffee places by the way they make their lattes and I was disappointed on that front considering the machine they have to work with. The froth was foamy and not velvety and I could barely taste the coffee. Maybe I'll come back to try an iced latte or Cappacino next?
Loved it...best lox and bagel sandwich on fresh warm bagel I've ever had. I will return to try other items. The Market sells great selections of cheese, huge wine and beer choices and interesting and unique items. They do their own baking as well. The owner, Jason, is wonderful.
Delicious, but kind of expensive, sandwiches. Favorite BLT of all time. Small, but quality grocery, beer, and wine selections.
Edit: Went again today. Sandwiches still good, but not quite like before ownership change. Beer and wine now served. I got a BLT and a Cob salad to go, and it was $$$. Shockingly so. Good service though, and I'm seeing a lot of interesting changes. We'll see where this goes. Won't be buying sandwiches anymore though. Too rich for my budget.
First of all the service, it was awesome, friendly and corteous, the cold brew was amazing nice soft flavor that can be enjoyed for hours, got a nuttella latte for my wife and she loved it, on top of that they offer oat milk, it's a beautiful, clean place to relax and enjoy your beverage, oh and the sell tortas (sandwiches) didn't try em but I plan to because the smell was absolutely fantastic. I can tell this is my favorite place for coffee now on!
Fresh roasted, freshly ground coffee, what more could you ask for?
Oh great customer service? YES.
Carmen was welcoming and made my dirty chai latte PERFECT.
Everything was sanitized and enjoyable to be around.

I just deleted my previous review... The person I mentioned in my previous review contacted me and explained in detail the issue they were having with the phones and their frustration with that. I understand, not all systems work 100% all the time.
So, I decided to give them another shot and the person working this time was super courteous (asked me how my day was and generally seemed to care) and the food was good.
They've got my seal of approval now, for what that's worth haha! Cheers.
We stopped here for the South Park Walkabout. The friendly gentleman waved us in as we were looking at the sign outside. The staff had samples of cookies and sandwiches which were really great! Seems like a really cute place to have lunch!
A cute little local spot. Be advised that they are transitioning from a market with groceries to just focus on the café / restaurant section. (But you still have other great local options for groceries up the street - and I'm glad they'll still have the café!) Employees are always friendly. They have good coffee (including good cold brew) and peaceful indoor/outdoor seating. The food I've tried has been decent but a bit expensive for the quality... but I'll give it another try as they focus more on that side of the market!
So happy they have gluten free bread! The people who work there made me feel very comfortable, the coffee was very good, and the sandwich was amazing. My biggest complaint is the minute produce section. Golden Hill is in some serious need of organic produce!
Great place for your coffee to go or enjoy it while you wait for your sandwich. They have Bagels, Pastries, Soup etc. In their little Market area you can find some goodies from wine to cheese and more. So far everything I tried was fabulous. Overall it is a lovley little place ... and not a chain!
Edit: I've been informed that ownership of the store traded hands again and that the location has improved immensely, practically back to what it was when I still lived in South Park.
Disregard the old review below.

What happened to this place?!
It used to be amazing, but not it's just barren... like they got halfway through a remodel and just gave up. 80% of the shelves are empty and "ghetto" is the only word I can use to describe it now.
This is such a nice cafe, with a selection of breakfast, brunch and hearty lunch options. In addition, they have prepared "homemade" style pastries, snacks and gift items such as unique wine, beer and tap kombucha. Will definitely be a recurring customer.
