Had dinner with a friend before the theater this week, and it was delightful! Had a lovely tempranillo and the perfect French onion soup: basically a high-end grilled cheese with beef stock. The rabbit in Dijon cream sauce was absolutely perfect and a match for the restaurants I’ve visited in Paris. 🇫🇷
Had a fabulous lunch at Bastille and understand why it is so popular. Not too gaudy atmosphere yet rustic and cozy enough to get your sense transformed into a small town in France. The garlic bread was phenomenal and the burger was quite flavorful. Nothing to be blown away. Just had a great time. Price ain't too cheap but absolutely worth it to take a trip to a small eatery in a French town.
Delicious. Absolutely delicious.
I had the French Onion Soup & the rabbit as an entrée and I am so pleased I did; my only regret was eating too much earlier in the day, so I couldn’t treat myself to dessert as well. I love that they’ve got the combined menu with B44, I can’t say I’ve had tapas at too many French restaurants before. Definitely coming back.
Super cute place! Everything was super yummy! The escargot came out bubbling still and was so good. The mussels were small but the sauce was great. The Lorca drink was delicious. Service was great and nice
Bastille is a hangout for lots of French expats with simple but excellent food. The wine list has something for everyone. Their croque-monsieur an absolute favorite!
This restaurant makes such amazing side dishes and appetizers, one time I decided not to order an entree! No matter, each dish was so generously proportioned it felt like eating a 5 course meal! The cooking and service here is impeccable!
This restaurant is fantastic: service, ambiance, food, and even coffee. Noel was our server/waiter. He was extremely attentive to our party from the second he opened the door for us to the end of our dining experience. We started with the combination charcuterie and the carpaccio- everything was delicious, especially the part. Our party ordered the French toast and salmon Benedict from the brunch menu. We also ordered from the regular menu: steak, spicy merguez (sausage) plate (not the sandwich) which came with ratatouille, complete crepe, croquet, and French dip. The house coffee came with a foil wrapped square chocolate nestled on the saucer (optional to melt in your coffee). We all enjoyed our dishes. The interior makes you feel like you are not in SF. We will be back.
Loved the intimate atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Ordered off the SF Restaurant week menu and was extremely happy with the dishes. Everything was well cooked, beautifully presented, and was absolutely delicious.
This small French bistro brings bold flavors with authentic French dishes served in an atmosphere that’s reminiscent of a Parisian cafe. Everything from the friendly, attentive service to the impressive charcuterie board, beef tartare topped with quail egg, and perfectly spiced grilled lamb merguez sausage created an experience that makes you forget you’re in an alley in San Francisco. They also feature a decent selection of wine, cocktails, and espresso. Fantastic French place which we will be sure to visit when we return to this area!
Finally returned after the pandemic and all, and the Café has not lost its touch. Nice cocktail menu, which we ordered from. The French Onion Soup is the best we’ve tasted in a long time (albeit saltier than most). The Café Bastille Salad is a fresh, delicious meal on its own without adding protein. The Quiche Lorraine is a cheesy, rich delight, but the Pommes Frites are amazing, easily the best we’ve tasted in memory; if you get them, enjoy them fresh and hot!
Great food and friendly service! French bistro-style restaurant, full bar and outside seating. Went here for dinner and ordered the three course meal. Every dish was very tasty and the portions were huge.
Cute, quint french restaurant. Decent portion. Ordered the 3 course meal - mushroom fettucini (bit under seasoned), french onion, chocolate mousse, house white, and a burger. dog friendly. Walkable from central san fran. bit expensive. decent service.
This little French restaurant ranks among the best I've ever tried. As someone who has lived in Paris I'm always looking for good French food and this exceeded my expectations. The onion soup was hearty and delicious, and the beef bourguignon was the second best I've ever had in my life behind Le Coup Chou in Paris. I'm definitely coming back every time I'm in the city. Highly recommended for couples looking for a date night spot.
Great music and clutch for a SF outdoor seating option with an overhead covering especially during COVID restricted dining. [I got lucky with a seat under the heater] I had the Café Bastille Salad with Salmon. It was a tasty and well sized portion especially for the price. (Be sure to specify how you would like the meat of choice cooked)The service was also prompt and welcoming!
Fantastic little french place in the middle of San Francisco. The salmon starter was definitely worth it! The lamb maragez were very authentic and flavorful. I will definitely come back to try more things. Friendly and helpful service.
