The best south Indian food. Hot, spicy, tasty! Great presentation.
The one thing that didn't quite work was our waitress brought out the bread with only the Chennai chicken. My husband had to wait for his separate veggie food. They comped us dessert (fantastic).
But Todd made it ok, hanging out. Very cool.
Amazing food! And even better service!! I will be goIng to this restaurant on the regular!
The best Indian food in sf... Very fresh very pleasent.. Loved it and Wil be back soon.
Love this place! Outstanding food and service!
Ask for Jenny since she is simply amazing!
Sweet potato dosa post deep tissue massage = awesome! Great place and food, Todd!
Great food, drinks and service in a small but nice place.
It is amazing place for Indian food. Every dish that we ordered was delicious. The place is always busy but easy to find a table. Also they have some beautiful wall art that represents India. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. Highly recommend this place.
This place has been on my list for ages, but I never managed to get in without having to wait for 2 hours. Finally scored a seat here on a late Saturday afternoon at 2.45 pm. (15 mins before close)
You get free pappadums to start your meal (yayy)
We had the following:
1. lamb keema dosa: Yummy keema in wafer thin crispy dosa. Served with unique chutneys and Sambhar. Delicious and filling.
2. Egg curry and appam: this was so good, I could try. Delicious creamy cocunut milk based curry will leave you licking your fingers. The dish comes with one appam and coconut rice, both of which complement the curry to perfection.
It’s not hard to see why this place is so popular!
If you are in sfo and u like to dine in one of the best Indian restaurant. You should choose Dosa, especially the ambience and the staffs welcoming is awesome. On top of everything the food, with the touch of top chefs becomes miracle. I guess the chefs name is Ramesh and his team. Great place over all love your work. Keep it up👍
Dosa is one of my favorite thing in South Indian cuisine. I have had it since I was a kid and tried at least 100s if not 1000s of places and types of Dosa.
Dosa on Vencia is very very close to what I grew up eating. What I love about this place is that apart from traditional food they also are not shy about experimenting with the spices (like habanero and mango spice masala dosa, yumm). The food is always 5/5 here.
The drinks here are amazing as well and usually have some Indian flavors in it which is always a delight.
The food is spicy here to keep Tums handy.
The only reason taking a point away is because some problems with the service and bar.
Indian food without overdoing the innovation. Everything was spiced just right, no compromising on flavor or going too heavy handed with the spices, which many Indian restaurants seem to get wrong. Definitely on the pricier side. Friendly and helpful service.
If you haven't been here, go right now!
Jen is an amazing host and we were very happy with her hospitality. Truely one of my favorite places for indian food. Jake the bartender is fun and enerjetic. Keep up the good work and I'll be there every week.
I have eaten at a few dosa places in the Bay area and this is my favorite by far. I will defiantly be going back again. We had we tried a couple of different dishes and everything was delicious. My favorite was the Masala Dose and the Filtered coffee.
All the dishes we tired was really tasty and flavorful
I can't wait to go back.
Dosa(both Valencia and Filmore) is such a gem of a place! Both locations are cute and cozy and DELICIOUS!!! There are very few Indian restaurants that check all the three boxes of-great authentic tasting food, great service, and great ambiance and I feel DOSA is one of the few places that wins that trifecta. I usually go with the OG route by getting the classic masala dosa but my friends who have tried other things on the menu were also mostly pleased. I switched it up last time and got Mysore masala and was pleasantly surprised 😊
My only complain/constructive feedback would be making it so that one can omit an ingredient in potato masala if they wanted to. For example, my mom doesn’t like cashew nuts so we asked for one without it but they told us how cashew nuts are just part of the recipe and ground into the potato masala. We were fine but I could see another friend or a person having a nut allergy who’s miss out on that dosa JUST because it had cashew nuts in it.
The paper masala dosa was very good. Really liked the tomato chutney. The sweet dosa was really good too. The mango lassi had a bit too much elaichi but was good.
We had a take out order and realized after we picked up food and left, about an hour later when we were eating they had made a mistake with our order. It was not the best dining experience that day but upon calling and letting them know, Adnan their manager took accountability for the mistake and made it right! I was happy with prompt response and service to make sure they had a happy customer! I give this restuarant 5 stars for food, taste and service.
