This is my go-to spot in the Mission Bernal neighborhood (except for chorizo tacos, I go to The City Taqueria #2 next door). You can't really beat the handmade corn tortillas and the friendly service. Almost everything I've tried is delicious and my favorites are the carnitas taco and the puerco en mole verde plate. Pro tip: if you're in the area and cooking Mexican food, get their tortillas to go to take your meal to another level.

Incredible incredible! We got the house mezcalita, chips, tacos (chicken, fish) and the costillas. Everything was so fresh, tasty and beautiful. Live music was the perfect 🍒 on top and took us right back to Mexico City!

We had the Torta Mexican Sandwich-Milanesa de Res, Tacos Dorados, Enchiladas Rojas and Sopes. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience at El Buen Comer. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Mexican meal.

Great food and quick service. They have excellent beans and rice. The Tacos Dorados are amazing and so are the breakfast items like chilaquiles. Cheese enchiladas with all of their home made sauces are pretty delicious. Plenty of vegetarian options and the staff seems knowledgeable about what’s in all of the dishes. When they get busy service can suffer a bit and hard to get the attention of the limited waitstaff.

I've only tried a few dishes so far but already eaten myself sore twice thanks to leftovers and you better believe I'm going to be trying more of them.

I found this spot in my search for Chilaquiles! It did not disappoint! I ordered the sope tinga and chilaquiles rojos. Both were seasoned perfectly and the sauces were divine. It’s homestyle cooking in a clean, friendly, and welcoming restaurant. Can’t wait to return and order the chilaquiles verdes.

We ordered the house margaritas, chicken tinga tacos, and the pork in mole verde. Service was excellent and prompt, with frequent water refills which I appreciated on a rare hot day. Every piece of food was fantastic, from the tender meat, to the spicy and flavorful sauces, to the light fluffy rice and the perfect black beans. Nothing was too greasy or heavy. I had mixed feelings about the mariachi band that played at the entrance and then walked table to table, but they were talented and we tipped them. The decor and seating are on the simple side, erring towards sparse, making it easy to underestimate the restaurant as a pedestrian, but it is well worth the visit.

Really loved this neighborhood joint! The service was excellent! I really enjoyed the pork in green mole sauce. The flavor was quite unexpected but delicious with a slight kick. I had the watermelon agua fresca which was very refreshing. I highly recommend this place esp if you’re looking for authentic and rustic Mexican food (def not Cali or Tex Mex)!

We went here for dinner and had the Mole Verde de Puerco. It was served family style. The pork was well cooked and the base had just the right amount of thickness with very good flavor (perfect amount of mild-medium spice). The rice, beans, and tortillas are separate charges, but definitely worth it to round out the meal. The tortillas are small, but truly authentic & fresh. There were 3 of us and the medium family sized serving filled us up. We ordered guacamole and chips and they were delicious and again, very fresh. We also had the flan and churros for dessert...yummm. We came in not knowing what to expect, but left very satisfied. The price can be a bit high, but you are definitely paying for good food, excellent service, and a very nice atmosphere. We went at 7:30 p.m. on a Wednesday without a reservation and there were a lot of people, but were seated immediately. We will definitely return. Enjoy!

I’m from Tijuana and I honestly don’t like any Mexican restaurants in the Bay, the food never tastes even remotely close to what it should taste. This place though, these chilaquiles were fantastic. The sauce was hearty and spicy, the tortilla was freshly fried, and the beans and rice were just like what mom makes. My gf had the flautas and they were also perfect. I am absolutely coming back and recommending this spot to people, the service was also wonderful.

Authentic, tasty Mexican cuisine served family style. Service was friendly and attentive, and everything was prepared perfectly. Shared dishes are available in 3 sizes to accommodate different sized parties. Highly recommended.

Pictures from a few different times we’ve been but it’s always a good time! A small family owned restaurant with Mexico City style Mexican food. I recommend everything (as you can see between the three times we’ve been)!

I’m from Chicago. I know good Mexican food. This is really really good food. I got the jicama slaw which was really tasty - sticks of jicama in a lime and tajin-like dressing. A really good appetizer that wakes up your palate. Only get this if you like raw jicama which tastes like a not sweet carrot. Then I had the enchiladas verdes with chicken. It was SO GOOD. The sauce was seasoned perfectly, definitely on the more sour side which I love. I was extremely satisfied and happy with my meal. The waiter was also really helpful and friendly. I highly highly recommend this place and these dishes.
