A good selection of various sourdough bread and well as artisanal baked bread is available here. The Bakery is famous for the Clam Chowder or the Tomato Soup which is served in the hollow Sourdough bread. We tried the Tomato soup, it was served along with some croutons for garnish. One order is enough for two people. A must try place!!
The bakery was cute to visit. There were all sorts of loaf shapes. The bread was good but not the best bread I’ve had. A little tough in the crust.
Better than other places that serve clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. This bread was ultra fresh and the soup was a perfect consistency. Enjoyed the large Caesar salad as well. Thanks!!
Had the tuna. My wife the turkey with avocado. Both in sour roll. July 30, 2023. Extraordinarily good. 😋 Short wait. Parking easy. Beautiful weather.
Visited this place, first time, was packed but only 30 minute wait. Sourdough bread basket and butter, soft and tender crust and butter enhanced the great taste! Ordered with fanily-stew entree so delicious and very tender meat but small portion, clam chowder bread bowl was good but not the best I've had still tasty ($17.95 a little expensive) fish and chips were okay loved the fish not too crunchy and not greasy fries were soft and chewy a texture I like Cole slaw was good cost was around $24) margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza for $13 and size was bigger than expected, thin chewy crust, great flavor!
This little Boudin location opens at 6am. Perfect for an early snack. I had their ham cheese croissant $4.25 and a cup of clam chowder $7. The croissant is not bad. They don't heat it up though; you know, to melt the cheese. The clam chowder came with a little piece of sourdough bread to dip into the soup. Quite frankly, the clam chowder at Safeway had more clams. I did enjoy this cup of chowder. There are much better clam chowder throughout the city. Boudin is good if you are in a hurry and don't want to sit down for some soup. Service is excellent (if you know about the one person in-store policy.)

Fresh baked bread, sandwiches, croissants, pizza, and more. So fresh and delicious! The softest sourdough I have ever encountered. Great crust on everything.
The bread was delicious. This was my first time trying a clam chowder bread bowl in San Francisco and I was not disappointed. I also got a focaccia. I would definitely come back here when in SF.
Yesterday stopped by at Boudin on 10th ave. All the times I have stopped in, your staff has been amazing and the customer service is why you are my go to for all my breads, cookies and food. Please thank your staff for me. Thank you!
The best sandwich in town. Always a line of people for this bakery. Absolutely delicious breads. Great sandwiches.
Great take out location. Decent chowder, great bread, reasonable prices.
Best service ever , the lady at counter was so amazing and helpful, first time for me on San Francisco and she told me what to get in order to get full San Francisco experience . I will definitely go back here next time.

Good bakery products, from very historic old San Francisco "sourdough bread" origins. Sadly this bakery has recently been shut down and the bakers were sent packing! 🤔 As of October 2018, the neighborhood retail store is still open - selling product from the Wharf location of Boudin Bakery. So are we to be seeing the beloved old building sold for new Condominimums complex in the Richmond District?? 😞.
I absolutely love this place. If I lived here, I'd go here all of the time. It's a small bakery. You can buy sourdough bread in many shapes and flavors. And they have one of the best clam chowders around and all for a very decent price. It's a definite guilty pleasure.
And best of all, since no one really knows about it, you can drop in quickly, grab what you need and not have to fight a crowd like at the fisherman's wharf or at union square.it is for us locals. Seems like it is really a location for the commercial bakery but they serve bread and chowder on the side. Yeah!!!
This Boudin store located at 399 10th Ave. just off Geary Street in SF is what I would describe as a faux bakery because none of their products is made on site.
Nonetheless, it feels pleasantly nostalgic to walk into a bakery, point to the loaf or pastry that catches your eye and then have the person behind the counter wrap it up for you, much in the same way that our grandparents would get their daily bread back in the old analog days.
