Just randomly bumped into the tiny restaurant / takeaway shop and tried their Monday lunch special. It is Beef Curry in Indonesian style. Only 13 bucks.
Last night I was at ChinaLive, a fancy Chinese restaurant which was highly rated by Times in 2018. But I think this beef curry beats them for sure.
The owner knows almost every customer and their preference. Jokes around and really relaxed feeling. The casual conversation makes you wonder it is a Yo Yo Family or something. This is a role model for small family run food business. As I was writing this comment, it has been a relatively long queue all the way to the street.
Unfortunately I live in Sweden so I wouldn't have chance to come here often as my workday lunch go-to places. But I will definitely visit it again next time I am in SF.
It's takeout only at this place. Almost street food level. Quality is decent and price is (relatively) low. CASH or app (Venmo, Zelle) only. Mom and pop kind of place. Service is fast, so don't get discouraged if there is a big line out.
Awesome Japanese takeout lunch spot! Got half chicken curry special for $12. Chicken was fall off the bone delicious and came with puffed rice, carrots, yam, hard boiled egg and, of course, sweet and savory Japanese curry. Everything was super tasty and the portion for the price was generous. Owners were very nice and the service was fast. No photos because I ate it too fast!
Really tasty lunch, so we'll priced all this was 19 Dollars and the people running the store were super friendly. Highly recommend to take and eat at the park

You don't often find a place as special as YoYo's. Stellar quality food at lovely prices. A perfect meal to share with friends and family. But the most remarkable feature of this establishment is the Couple that runs it! I feel like family in a city that is brand new to me. The Soba is my absolute favorite! Udon is great and if you like a little spice, try the curries! Need a Snack? Grab some sushi rolls or dumplings! The soup in the udon and soba is among the best I've had, just like Grandma's cooking. They must call it YoYo's because like the eponymously named toy, I keep coming back! 🪀
We would go here for lunch all the time. One of a kind spot. Amazing food for crazy cheap. I am impressed they are still open all these years later. I would make a trip for their soba noodle any day of the week!
Yoyo's is a one of a kind, quality lunch spot in san francisco! It's a rare spot that has affordable AND incredibly tasty options. I always get the half order of udon with dumplings and it never disappoints and is under $10. They are cash only but have recently added Venmo to their store which is super convenient. The owners are always there and are SO friendly. I can't say enough good things about this place.
Owner greet you kindly at the door and offer you their menu, generous portions ,filled container of soba and seaweed and crunch and delicious broth , the small sushi and salad are priced low and everyone can afford to buy and eat all the delicious food, I love the owners are not greedy, they keep the price low for the sake of others, so everyone can afford to eat, the food are well portion and home made authentic Japanese food, fresh everyday, LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop, highly recommend come with family and friends and support this place
This place is take-out only. Really great prices for their meals. Got the California Roll and Smoked Salmon roll today. They also have daily specials with really large serving sizes for around $12.

Tiny takeout place. Sushi, soba, udon, and curry special. It's all so good. Nicest people. Just read the reviews... everyone loves Yo Yo's.

After hearing of Yoyo's via word of mouth and various online forums, I finally made it here one hot day. I'd usually reserve a hot soupy soba for a karl-fogged overcast SF day, but I gave it a shot this day and I was happy I did. I spent a fair bit in Japan earlier this year and ate a lot of soba, so I had a point of comparison. The soba here was simple (as it should be), slurpy and plenty for a low price. The couple were sweet and personable with customers in line who were clearly regulars here. They topped it generously with shichimi and later sprinkled some more when I came back for more (the soba was on the sweeter side)
CASH ONLY! Quick and fairly priced Japanese take out on Pacific just west of Battery. Ordered a California roll and Soba noodle soup (really good for a cold-ish San Francisco day). In and out in less than five minutes at 1pm on a work day. Will definitely be back! CASH ONLY!
Had this place a few years back. The friendliest married couple runs the shop and has things down to a SCIENCE; they started recognizing me by name after a few visits and would have my order ready to go in seconds.
With the fast and friendly service the food is amazing, I highly recommend the udon, and the chicken and rice plates are wonderful as well. Also a big fan of the grab n' go sushi!

Incredible value food that tastes pretty good. The old man and lady running the place are just a delight to speak to. Note they only accept cash or Venmo (since credit cards take too much of a cut).
