My opinion Papa Mak's Burgers is exactly what the sunset needed , outstanding quality food, 100% Angus Beef burgers , extensive Menu with mouth watering items . Bay area native, ( Sunset Boy ) now retired living in Lincoln ca, whenever we visit the Sunset this is our go to place for Lunch or Dinner..
The best burger I have had so far in SF. I rarely go to a place more than once or twice due to the fact there are SO many places I wanna try. I have been here 3 times so far and intend to come back till I've had everything on the menu.
The Curry Fries are off the hook, but they should re-name them and sell them with a side of peas.
They could call them:"Curry On My Wayward Spud" and add "There will be peas When You Are Done"

Hamburgers are on point and their fries, bomb
Great fish & chips with a pint sitting on the sidewalk in the chilly Winter Sunset sunshine...
I'll be back, with more friends!
Awesome burgers & shakes. A great local spot. Fish & Chips are delicious too!
I had the four alarm burger with sweet potatoe tots! Awesome choice!
Papa Maks Burgers in San Francisco is an absolute gem! The burgers here are mouthwateringly delicious, with perfectly grilled patties and a variety of tasty toppings to choose from. The fries are crispy and addictive, and the service is top-notch. The cozy atmosphere adds to the overall experience. I can't recommend Papa Maks enough – it's a must-visit for burger lovers in the city! 🍔🌟
Went there with a couple of friends for a mid-afternoon meal, and couldn’t be more pleased. The service was lo-key excellent. The food was outstanding. We had: A Louisiana hot link, with fries, a Fish & Chips with fries, a Burger with Fries, and we shared a salad. The fries were perfect: hot, crispy, and had spicy herbs on them. The hot links were spicy, smothered in grilled onions and soecialists sauce. The fish was deep fried with crispy coating, and came with vinegar, as well as tartar sauce. The burger was outstanding, cooked to order, and came with everything.
Without doubt the best burger I have ever had anywhere in the world and I have eaten a lot. Just a classic 1/2lb that was so juicy and cooked to perfection. Classic menu done properly. So glad I stopped on route to the airport. Wow and thank you
Had the grilled patty melt - delicious! I've had the mushroom burger and that was good as well. Definitely will be back, great local neighborhood burger place

I must be in a good mood because this is the fourth perfect review I've had to give out in as many weeks. In reality, my experience actually wasn't perfect but that was mostly my fault. Okay, all my fault.
Let me start by saying that they're serious when they say half pound patties. Normally, people that start with half pound patties generally burn enough fat out of them to roughly make them 2/3 of their original size. Papa Make is an exception. In fact, when A half pound patty goes in, a half pound patty comes out.
With that in mind, I made the mistake of ordering a double, which meant I ended up with a hamburger that was 1 lb of meat. When I say I made a bunch of mistakes, this was one of them. Ultimately, I simply had too much meat on my burger to enjoy the way it should be enjoyed.
As an authentic burger joint, they weren't afraid to prepare my burger medium. That can't be said for every burger place. It came with all the fixings that you would expect, but it did come dry, something I didn't notice until I'd already taken a bite. Yeah, another food review mistake.
I turned around from the counter to see the items I was looking for, including ketchup, mustard, and mayo. I took the opportunity to start my experience over, this time with all the fixings.
After correcting my mistakes, the hamburger was everything you would want it to be, juicy, tender, and perfectly complimented by fresh garnishes.
I will note, I was a little bit disappointed that the ketchup did come in packets instead of being in some kind of squirtable container. The only other part that slightly disappointed me was the fries. I'm always hypocritical about fries, which you know if you've read some of my other reviews. Overall, I still have to give it five stars. It's in a great location, the food is spectacular, and the drink selections great. Check it out!

Just came here by chance, had the impossible burger with everything on it and it was very tasty! Service is fast! Im told the regular burgers are really good too! Will come back again!
This is definitely a go to spot if you’re in the area! The burgers are juicy and delicious with a variety of both burgers and fries. I got the special this time, good ol’ max n cheese burger. Yum! They also have other sandwiches available which we’ll definitely be back to try. We got some good shirley temples but they definitely serve beer!!
One of the best burgers I’ve had this side of town. Meat was so juicy and perfectly cooked (I had medium rare), the bun was slightly toasted and the rest of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Fries were bomb and staff was super friendly. Thank you!!
We were in SF for a sports event at a field nearby and this place was recommended and so glad it was ! The burger was so juicy and flavorful. And do not skip the fries ! They were amazing! The portions are big so bring your appetite. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Papa Mak makes a tasty burger. I had their papa burger $11.50 + egg $1.50 + cheddar cheese $.75 + truffle fries $3 (to switch from regular fries) + 805 beer $5. The vegetable portions were small. I would have preferred more than a thin slice of tomato and red onion. The 1/2 pound burger meat was juicy and had a slight charbroiled taste to it. The truffle fries were well portioned and had a good crunch. I have no complaints. Good job crew at Papa Mak's.
HUGE and reasonably priced fried chicken sandwich. And as a bonus, it comes with a heap of fries and a fountain drink.
These guys know how to build a burger! I was working in San Francisco a few weeks ago and a coworker recommended this place and I’m glad he did. And if I’m ever in the area again I’ll definitely be back! Oh yeah and the sweet potato tots are a must.
Good menu with some vegetarian options. Veggie burger was delicious, and they do have the impossible burger. I was really excited about sweet potato tater tots on the menu, but they were a bit sweet. I know it's sweet potatoes, but it tasted like there was sugar added. Overall I really enjoyed my meal. The door was open the entire time and it was a bit drafty and cold for me. Also, the music playing in the background had profanity (song,I don't give a f*#k was playing) which I didn't really appreciate, but otherwise a great place. For more prudish people like me, can get food to go. There is also outdoor seating.
Absolutely delicious! Sat in with my family yesterday after a day at the beach. We ordered the lamb burger, fish and chips, and the kids chicken strips meal. The fish and chips came with three perfectly battered fish, and I upgraded my fries for the truffle fries that were so addictive. My husband devoured his burger before I could even get a picture and the kids loved the chicken and sweet potato tots. We did really appreciate the tables being wiped down and cleaned after other parties had left. It helped me and my husband feel a lot better about our kids being able to safely eat at a public table instead of in the car. This was our first experience here and definitely plan to come back on our next trip to San Fran!
Decent burger, ok Philly cheesesteak. Chile cheese fries were a little underwhelming and tasteless. We believe After Hours burgers are better.
Best burger around the sandy west beach of San Francisco. To boot there is a Irish bar across the road. Try the truffle fries.
Papa Mak’s has a wide menu for everyone to pick from. The a variety of burgers and the great option of Impossible Patties and meats makes it a to go spot.
