Stopped by yesterday when waiting for the N train and practically inhaled the tomato, basil, and mozzarella sandwich on the baguette. I picked up an almond croissant, along with a pistachio raspberry croissant.
I like to think of myself as an almond croissant connoisseur but I was underwhelmed. Maybe I was expecting the typical almond paste inside but it was almost overcompensating with being absolutely coated with chopped almonds. The other croissant was excellent and I shared it with friends.
We also ordered an almond croissant latte, which wasn’t what I expected but after a little pump of simple syrup, it was great.
One of my favorite cafes in SF tucked away in Cole Valley. Worth the side trip if you are around Golden Gate or Haight! The cafe is set with a French petite atmosphere along with a boulangrie that offers delicious baked goods and great coffee!
Just a side note for people interested in history. This is one of the last La Boulanges allowed to stay open by Rigo Pascal who sold his original SF chain to Starbucks. Unfortunately SB closed all of the cafes in SF and rebranded their cafe with pink La Boulange bags for pastries. The food offerings were developed by Rigo, but has since gone away.
La Boulangerie de SF is one of the remaining cafes and happy that it is in my neighborhood!
Really yummy croissants, good coffee and nice space to sit and read a book or hace a breakfast date. I recommend the pistachio and raspberry croissant, the chocolate hazelnut croissant they are like desserts. The only thing is a little bit pricy
I came here through the absolutely wonderful app "Too Good to Go".
The woman who helped me was extremely kind and gracious. I felt good energy from the entire staff. I received an incredibly generous quantity of food, all of which was absolutely sumptuous- the person I was talking to was thoughtful, asking if I was vegetarian- thank GOD I'm not and never will be, because the ham and cheese/butter/lettuce baguette sandwich she graciously gave me was truly perfect!
Overall, it was a perfect experience, and I looked at their menu and everything is very reasonably priced. That's what used to seem expensive in San Francisco but they stayed the same and everything else has skyrocketed.
I received two baguettes and shared one with my dad and his GF, who is Basque/French. She enjoyed it with thinly-sliced salted radish and buttered baguette and reported that it transported her to her childhood 🙏
I highly recommend giving this wonderful place your business! The space is airy, sunny, charming, and inviting- peak Cole Valley perfection 💕
Photo of extremely delicious apple turnover.
You’ve got to try the garlicky kale and goat cheese quiche and the pistachio croissant. Scrumptious. ✨
Small pastry shop with great coffee drinks, breakfast sandwiches and wonderful deli sandwiches! Get a croissant!
Wonderful café to sit and read/study in. Great neighbourhood, friendly people. I’ve tried many cafés in San Francisco, and this is by far the most authentic to the pastries I’ve had in France. Alongside great coffee, (an almond croissant latte that surprisingly tastes exactly like the croissant) it also should be said that the café does an amazing job introducing pastries outside of the usual croissants. I utterly recommend the kouign amanns and cannelés. Their croissant toasts are also to die for 🤩 .
Found this place while just wandering through the city looking for a breakfast diner. So happy that we stopped in and stayed for a bite.
Charming little bakery with delicious food and wonderful staff. So welcoming and friendly. They also welcomed our big red Doberman!
I had the French Toast and it was the best I've ever had, creamy like custard on the inside with just the right amount of chew and crunch on the crust. I could have eaten way too much! She had the chorizo and potato empanada and is still raving on about it. Wants to go back for more soon.
Please don't tell anyone about this place, we want it to stay exactly as it is, quiet and charming, lovely people and perfect in every way ❤️.
Delicious. Great atmosphere. Rose petals raspberry croissant with an oat milk almond croissant late — highly recommend ☺️
Delicious and great place to spend a Sunday morning :)
