Falafel drive in is a staple of our family’s drives down the coast. The food there is delicious and the quality is always amazing . This time around we had the falafel sandwiches, onion rings, and pita chips. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere around the restaurant is amazing with people eating in their cars and a beautiful mural nearby.
This is not usually the type of food I eat, but this was so good!!! My daughter talked me in to trying it because Guy Fieri has been there and it did not disappoint. The red sauce and tahini sauces are wonderful!! The banana shake was an added bonus to it all!!
The best falafel I've eaten (and I've eaten a lot, including in Israel and Palestine). By no means a fancy a place but the quality and taste of the falafel is exceptional!
This place never changes which is good - large Falafel has 10 balls small has 5 balls - almost worth buying the balls for 50cents each and taking those home
I get the special w banana milkshake - that’s the best order 😇
Not busy between 10:30 am and 11AM, on a weekday. My sister has been a customer for over 40 years. Now I know why. Got the Gyro salad and asked for the pita on the side. Best Gyro I've had so far! Will be visiting every time I get to San Jose.
The food was incredible and food came quickly but was still fresh. Also the inside of the falafel was green and high quality unlike many brown ones.
I’ve come here a few times over the years and they have the best falafel I’ve ever had. I usually get them with a cheeseburger and mango drink. The cheeseburger is decent. Atmosphere is great if you’re looking for the outdoor diner vibe. It’s always a treat to come here.

Legendary spot. Came in as not too big a fan of falafels, left a big fan of Falafel's Drive In. Highly recommend Large Falafel Sandwich with a Banana Shake ($13), you won't regret it.
My wife and I came here at around noon on a Monday. The restaurant is an outdoor counter-serve joint with plenty of tables and really fun and interesting murals about their history on the walls. We both ordered small gyros with a side of fries, a side of stuffed grape leaves, and an orange freeze.
Gyro was great, chock full of very well seasoned and perfectly cooked meat! The fries are excellently crispy and salty. The grape leaves were tangy and flavorful. And the orange freeze was a delicious dreamsicle of a way to wash the whole thing down! (I will never apologize for my pun, don't even think about asking)
TL;DR Great concept and better food, solid traditional American and Middle Eastern eats at a nice casual outdoor eatery
Tastes just as good as it did since the last I was here. Been over 10 years since I last visited, still gets a yum from me. Had a gyros and onion rings. Bothe were pretty good, the gyros fell apart about 2/3 of the way through, a fork helps out. Also suggest the spicy sauce they have. Perfect heat level.
awesome place for middle eastern. noting fancy, just a casual drive in but their food is sooo good! need to have it hot hot! if not the taste doesn’t do any justice. The falafel balls are awsomeee. super crispy and nice. The quantity is huge! The banana milkshake is amazing ! one of the best! fresh and delicious! great for quick lunch!
I’ll add my voice to the chorus of reviewers who have praised Falafel’s Drive-In. This oddly-named restaurant isn’t owned by someone named Falafel, and it’s not a drive-in, but who cares when the food is so good!
I love their signature Falafel on pita bread and a small sandwich is usually enough for lunch. The falafel balls are crispy on the outside with just enough spice. I’ll echo what others have said about their terrific hot sauce which is unfortunately only drizzled on the top instead of mixed throughout.
They also offer gyros, kofta, humus, tabbouleh, baba-ghanouj, and other authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food as well as classic American fare like hamburgers and grilled chicken sandwiches. There are plenty of choices for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Prices are reasonable given the quality and quantity of food.
You order at the counter and can take your food to go or share a picnic bench and enjoy the outrageously creative and colorful murals which line the walls of the partially enclosed dining area. Try to beat the noontime lunch crowd because parking is often hard to find and lines can be long. But at least the food comes out quickly.
The Nijmeh family has owned and operated Falafel’s since 1966 and have built it into a local institution. It’s open every day for lunch and dinner. Enjoy!
Falafel's par excellence! Just can't find better. Made to order, have bought many, never a mistake. Thanks 🙏 Hope they last longer than I do:)
I love falafel and knew I had to try this place when I saw the reviews.
I got a large falafel sandwich for $11. The falafels texture and flavor was amazing, but it was room temperature. The sandwich was really hard to eat too since the pita was falling apart at the seams.
The food was good, but not 5 star worthy.
Great service, good price.
Love this local favorite! A+++++
Highly recommend, get there early they get busy! Will not disappoint!
This place is serving the best falafel of the entire west coast, period. We enjoy the texture, sauce and the layers of flavor associated to this little sandwich. Staff are friendly, sometime anxious about the long line, but mostly friendly. Order baba with pita chips and don’t forget to eat it right away when it’s still hot. We recommend this place!
