Review for vegetarians The Counter's concept of customizing your own burger through a form is truly amazing. The Santana Row outlet impressed with its cordial staff and excellent service. Opting for a vegan patty, we selected our preferred veggies and sauces, resulting in a delicious burger. The overall experience was awesome, making it a must-try for those who appreciate personalized and tasty burger options.

The food is good but a bit over the top. The burgers are massive and very filling. They could be slightly smaller and still serve a great burger. The place was pretty busy so its obviously not hurting their clients. The service was above and beyond. They charge 20% on dine in which they then try to fleece you for an additional tip. I won't go to places that do this but here I would have given 20% because service was great. Owner said its 18% and that the additional tip line is to share with all employees. The atmosphere isn't anything special but felt cramped. If you like burgers, here, less on it is more so you can taste the great quality.

A must visit for a fantastic burger. Update (08/11/2023) - Never disappointed. I opted for The Counter burger. When it arrived, I thought it was too big. It was. I finished it. Delish!!! Shoestring fries were the perfect complement. Simply fantastic...

The most extensive and customizable burger menu around. My daughter was craving a cheeseburger but I really wanted a salad. So I ordered the Cobb salad with Mahi mahi... at a burger place. It was alright, just a bit small for the price. My daughter really liked her two mini cheeseburger kid dish. Friendly service and a great spot off of Santana Row.

The burgers were delicious. I highly recommend the blue cheese or the jalapeño burger.

The best part about The Counter is getting to build your perfect burger. The burger needed to be seasoned just a little better to make it perfect but otherwise it was a delicious meal

The Counter is a delicious and filling burger joint to go get a bite to eat. They are in fact dog friendly and are accommodating for dogs. Dogos can get their own cardboard water bowls and even puppy patties. Burgers are very filling and delicious to boot served on a brioche bun. You cannot really go wrong with getting whatever burger speaks to you they are all very good. If you do not want a burger from the menu, you can even create your own burger to suit your cravings as well. Sides are ordered separately or added to burgers. I recommend the half and half style of sides so you can mix and match. The shoe string fries and fried onion rings are where it's really at though. They also serve beers and cocktails. They have a wider selection of cocktails than beers but still have all the standard beers and a few unique brews. Highly recommend the counter if you want a dog friendly burger place that also serves alcohol!

This place makes the best burgers and their Parmesan fries are to die for. I had a burger last time and I got a salad this time. You use the same build your own menu for the burger as well as the salad, and choose your own ingredients and dressing. Yum!

Great burger place in a great location. I got the Gouda Bison burger and sweet potato fries and they were both tasty. They have many organic foods and a wide variety of choices. There is even an option to customize your own burger from choosing the bun, to the meat, to the toppings, to the sauce. The service is good and this place is perfect for the whole family.

very nice place, the burger is delicious. The service is also good, they asked whether we would like to split our food to half so we can easily share.

Fun to order all the parts not then it's sometimes hard to pick it up because it's so full. Veggie burger is eh. They do have Impossible burgers. Regular burgers are apparently excellent. At one time they had halibut burgers. I miss those.

Pros: nice and spacious indoor and outdoor, ready-to-order and “build-yourself” menus, generous kids portions, “lettuce wrap” option to replace buns, a nice fireplace area, even though they claim are known for burgers, they have a good selection of meal size salads, fast service Cons: not healthy side options for kids meal, limited dessert options

We ordered two drinks, parmesan fries, a veggie burger and the grilled cheese sandwich. My drink (similar to a vodka tonic, but I can't remember the name) was ok but Hubby's mango margarita (which I also wanted and he ordered) was delicious. The food was good but the nice, unexpected part was that we had asked for the burger to be cut in half and they brought out the half cut pieces on two separate plates with the balsamic sauces. Such a pleasant surprise. Sitting outside was comfortable with the heaters and there was a party on the roof of the hotel across the street that played Punjabi music - a bonus! There was an unexpected automatic service charge (mandatory tip). Obviously we were going to tip because the food and environment were good and we enjoyed ourselves but I don't care for automatic charges like this, so minus a star.
