We wanted dim sum but didn’t really know which one. We decided to give Jade Cathay a try. There’s plenty of parking next to the restaurant. We were seated and we scanned the QR code and started ordered. We ordered jumbo fried crab claws, siu mai, black bean ribs, baked bbq buns, and beef chow fun with tender greens. The dim sum came out relatively quick, the black bean ribs were a decent size and tasted good. The siu mai was smaller than some places but not bad. The baked bbq buns had this amazing glaze on it and was super fluffy with great cha siu inside. The fried crab claws were huge!! It had minced shrimp and in the very middle there’s crab meat attached to the claw, it was fun to eat and very delicious. The beef chow fun was a big size but we were already pretty full after two of us ate 4 dim sums. We ended up taking a lot of the beef chow fun home to eat. The noodles had wok hay and there was plenty of beef and bok choy. Overall, pretty satisfied with the dim sum here!

We ordered mixed chicken vegetables, beef chow fun and vegetable pot stickers. They close early — 8 p.m. You order on the mini machine at the table and then it gets sent to the kitchen. A bowl of white rice is $3. Overall great food, except the taste of the vegetable pot stickers was a bit too health.

We visited only once by chance and are happy we did. We ordered only Dim Sum. Listed below from best to least favorite: 1. Chinese Donut Rice Noodle Roll. As odd as it sounds, we took a chance, and we were delighted how good it was in the end. We could return just for that. It has a slight cake donut flavor with the Noodle and sauce. Soft steamed Noodle wrapped around a slightly crunchy donut. 2. Scallop and Shrimp Dumplings. These were pretty delicious. 3. Fried Shrimp Ball. Not oily at all and tasted great. 4. Steamed Pork and Chile Dumplings. Not spicy. More on the sweet side. But still tasted great. 5. Rice Noodle Roll Shrimp. Staple for us and pretty standard menu item. 6. Shanghai Soup Dumplings. Taste was okay. There was no soup inside the Dumplings. Staff was friendly and attentive. You order from an app on your phone. Staff will come to repeat your order and tape it to your table.

This was my first time here. It was for a red egg and ginger party on a Saturday for lunch. The restaurant shares a parking lot, and there was plenty of parking. (There is a lightrail stop right outside, so make sure to take all your valuables with you). The food is pretty good. We had 10 courses, which were baked bbq pork buns, broccoli beef, salt pepper fish, beef chow fun, salted fish chicken fried rice, lemon chicken, mapo tofu, stir fried string beans, egg tarts and mango pudding. Our table's favorite were the string beans and salt pepper fish. I liked the mapo tofu, the egg tarts, and the mango pudding. I would come back.

Authentic Chinese food in a convenient location in the heart of downtown San Jose. Plenty of options and our food was tasty, but no lunch specials. Also, the appetizers came out last, several minutes after our main dish came out. So, better coordination on the food preparation would make for a 5-star experience next time. We surely would come back and dine there again, thanks to the quality of the food.

Pretty good dim sum with all the classics. Their lobster was also executed well. Our favorites were the large shrimp dumplings and pan-fried shrimp & chive dumplings. Service was friendly and there wasn't a long wait for food. Prices were reasonable. Overall, we weren't particularly impressed but it was good.

Authentic dim sum restaurant experience with tons of great tasting food served hot and fresh. If you're offered the in house tea, say yes! It's amazing and goes well with the food. Service is stellar with lots of seating and servers always coming by with fresh options to try. Excellent restaurant!!

Best dim sum in San José in my opinion! The staff is very kind and the food is out of this world delicious! We love going with large groups so we can order more off the menu and share it all family style. You have to make sure you save room for the egg custard buns!

First time at this place. The general experience was good: service, food, cleanliness of the place, COVID19 restrictions. For me, to have 5 starts, they need bigger portions for every plate or be less expensive. I am aware that my options could intervene in my last point (I stuck to the dim sum section). Next time I will order different items to reaffirm this or correct it. I had: Daikon Radish Squares Sticky Rice Wraps BBQ Pork BunsFish-stuffed mushrooms Sweet & Sour Pork dumplings

The Beijing duck is a actually a bun sandwich, there was no picture in the tablet menu, thought it was simply a duck dish :( The Shanghai soup dumplings have no soup. Both of these not good. Dishes to recommend are stuffed egg plants, rice roll with fish and pork with Century eggs porridge. They added 18% tips automatically. Overall 3.5, but I round up to four.
