I had my first Angelou's burrito at a Music In The Park event in 2010. Life changing! Been going there ever since for the amazing food and the spot-on service.

This food is so consistently delicious. For over 3 years, I visited this friendly little spot for lunch and raved every single time! It is a must-visit if you are in downtown San Jose.

Everything is great but a few of my favorites are the green pozole, the new Moco Loco burrito, and Taco Tuesday!

My own Mexican mother would give Angelou's her stamp of approval. Incredibly authentic and fresh. Just like home. Love you Angelou's!

Angelou's is a great Mexican hole in the wall place. Compact menu. Not a lot of options for vegan/vegetarians but whatever they have are great. Parking is not easy in the whole neighborhood.

Tip: Use the 3rd street parking garage (Address: 95 N 3rd St, San Jose, CA 95113) to nicely park your car, get out on 3rd street, walk little south and take a walking path short cut that open up directly in front of this place. Get your parking validated to make the parking free!

We had the following:
1. Supper Veggie Taco: Nicely loaded with right amount of spices.
2. Taco de Papa: Nicely done.
3. Cheese Nachos: Disaster. Literally tortilla chips with molten cheese and couple of jalapeno. Lacked taste.
4. Cinnamon based drink (sorry cant remember the name) Good change but not worth the price.

Overall - the place gets loud with all odd types of drunk , loud customers but definitely worth a try. Food is great; although a little pricey for the serving portion.

We are from Texas, and we did not make it to the Mission, while in SF to get our burrito fixe. On our way back from Carmel, after researching, we stopped in at Angelou’s. My husband asked me if I wanted to split a burrito; I’m sure my look of disdain was quite apparent as I quickly told him I’d be having my own! Lol..We both got a Super..mine pork carnitas and his, chicken. Wow..deliciousness!! Fresh ingredients, nicely grilled and it was not soggy. Definitely recommend!

This was one of the highly rated places in downtown San Jose, and it's easy to see why. The food was delicious and came out pretty quickly, and the place has an aura of history looming about it with all the decor. The staff was polite as well. Has some outdoor seating too. This is now going to be a to-visit spot on every trip to san jose now!

Personally I feel that this is the best Mexican food I have ever tasted in the Bay area. The cal burrito was awesome and full, couldn't finish it. The carnitas plate was also great - served with hot corn tortillas, beans, salad, guacamole and sour cream. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Really appreciate the girl who took our order. Even though she didn't speak fluent English, she was very helpful answering our questions, trying to show us pictures etc. The place was warm and cozy, but had that old building smell. But it looks like they are moving around the block sometime in June 2023.

$15.65 Red Chicken Enchilada Good flavor. Three smaller enchiladas made a good meal. (Instead of 2 larger) $14.95 Pork Chile Verde Good flavor, though a little salty.

Best Cali burrito up here in SJ so far! As a former San Diegan, I’ve been on the hunt for a good California burrito! PS idk why they put beans in Cali burritos up here… that’s just a NO! This place has tasty carne asada and good amount of fries with sour cream and pico in the burrito. Plus with the orange salsa is muy fuego!

Had the carne asada tacos. Serving size was good enough and reminds me of tacos in Mexico. But tacos could have done with more onions and cilantro

After personally having more time to venture around to different lunch spots in downtown San Jose, I can confidently say this is my favorite lunch spot in the area. Burritos are really good. You can tell they take the little extra time getting the flavor and texture just right.

Don’t expect fancy, this is fast-casual, legit Mexican. The salsa, chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the carne asada tacos were all terrific. Beans and rice were just ok, but as expected for the style of restaurant. Service was friendly and pretty quick (not too busy at mid-week dinner hour). If you want good, fast reasonably priced Mexican - Angelous is quite good.

I go for their orange sauce! So much better than la viks (la viks always gets me sick now). I've had the burritos here too and they're pretty good as well, but the sauce is what I go for!!

Good place to get your burrito fix. Been craving my usual burrito bowl and found that this place has an average price $10 plus tax. It was good and got my craving fixed but wasn't the best I'd had. Also it's only around the block of my office so didn't have to walk too far. It got busy during lunch so that's a good indicator that pricing and food is about average.
