Best place to get a burger, especially to ruin your workout after the gym that is next door... Although, they do have a good salad bar too.

We had driven by this place so many times. During a Google search, I happened to check out its menu and my family and I decided we wanted to try it. Shortly after that, I saw a news story that the landlord refused to renew its lease and they'd be closing early next year. So, we had to actually make it in to try. Boy, did it give me vibes to classic places I went to as a boy. The best thing was the servings and prices were something from the past too. Really good food with affordable prices that would allow a family of four to eat there and not wipe us out for the month. Wife got the Flat Iron Steak which came with fries and bread. I got the Cheese Steer Burger which is like a long burger sandwich with a baked potato. Prices were good enough that we each got a cup of the soups of the day, Clam Chowder and Vegetable Beef. Really delicious. Only drawback was a poorly cleaned spoon with one of the soups. There was only 1 waitress and 1 bus boy, but boy were they hard working and incredibly friendly and attentive. Definitely bringing my boys back here. Place is big with plenty of booth seating. Plenty of parking in the small strip mall lot. I hope the landlord reconsiders and renews their lease. It looks like they've already driven out most of the surrounding businesses. I'd hate to see them drive them all out just to know the buildings down and replace them with a giant multi-story complex.

Alex was my server. He made sure my chilli fries came out nice & hot. Perfectly fried crispy fries. Dare I say way better than McDonald's. I passed by a Five Guys & Chick-fil-A to dine at Burger Pit.

MY GOODNESS! This restaurant will always have a special place in my heart. Grew up eating really special meals here with my family, went to high school at Pioneer.. I have fond memories of one of the staff practicing ASL with me when I was learning as a youngster over 15 years ago, too (I think his name was Ken, and Ken, thanks man, you have no idea the wheels you set in motion that day- it was a day that changed my life and I will never forget it!) Come for the burgers, become part of the extended family. I have never seen anyone- staff or customer, frown inside this restaurant. The menu is down right comforting, delicious, and so filling! I have appreciated the consistency and quality here for 30 years. Even the way they season the food is special! So perfect! I now live a bit too far away to enjoy as frequently as I used to, but I'll be making special trips before it closes just to make sure I soak it all up. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a meal to go, too, because the next day you'll be craving it! Thank you Burger Pit for all of the food and memories.

If you want a classic old school dining experience, this is the place. Enter and step back in time. Friendly staff, good food. Can't go wrong here. Really enjoyed our burgers with friends. Girl helping out in dining area was friendly and frequently asked if we needed refills on drinks or anything else. Sadly, they may be closing in April 2024, so get here quick so you can enjoy some good food and nostalgia.

Old school restaurant. The store was established in 1964. The restaurant layout is old fashioned but business is good. The staff is very friendly and warm. The price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

Service and staff are absolutely excellent, they're kind and constantly check and wait on you without expectation. Very old old school mindset, love it. Super awesome historic ambiance as well, and the pricing is VERY good. Unfortunately found the food a bit bland. Fries and onion rings are fine. Steak sandwich was a bit too boring, though tender. The burgers have a good char and are cooked exactly as you ask but they're outclassed quite easily by modern day burger joints. I'd say the food alone is 3.5 but the incredible service and historic value make it a 4.5.

Like a trip back to the 70's, except all the patrons are now over 70. The menu is incredible. Every possible form of meat (burgers, steaks, chops, ribs, chicken, fish). The service was excellent. The place was super clean and fresh. It was sad to hear it will be closing in a few months. It really is a time capsule that has great food that somehow just isn't as popular as it once was. Enjoy it before it's too late!!

Try their Chili Size. There's nothing like it anywhere else. So good. Tuna Sandwhich is just OK. Everything else is amazing. The staff are all super friendly and make you feel like family. Awesome place to eat.

We went with a friend because we had both enjoyed Burger Pit many many years ago; and now it was going to close. The food was still very good, my wife's onion rings were reported the best ever. But the restaurant's upkeep shows a lot of wear and tear. But absolutely worth a nostalgic visit before the close in the spring.

One of the few original Burger and Steak places left. This place is classic! No digital menu signs here. Great food and service.

Love this place, family has been eating at Burger Pit since the early 60's. Had the salmon, but my other guests had burger and a steak, it was all cooked to perfection. Service was amazing.

Been coming here for about 40 years. Absolutely love the food and the service. I am deeply saddened that they are closing next year. But while they are still around I will be coming here whenever I'm in town. I highly recommend this place if you want some good classic American food.

12/3/2022. Last of the well known San Jose family burger. Lease ends April 2024. Family established. Reasonable prices, unlimited coffee for future visits with purchase of a Burger Pit coffee mug. They offer steer burger. Popular local support, lines are waiting for them to open.

The steak was perfectly grilled, very soft and delicious. No salad bar but small salad was given with perfectly grilled buttered bread and fries. The clam chowder was very creamy and tasty. Very friendly environment and staffs. Loved it!

Had been driving by this place for years. Finally found a chance to go and was not disappointed. This is a gem from a generation past. Interior decoration kept up the class vibe and the food was way better than expected. It looks like they will be shutting down in a year or so due to their lease. I really hope they can find a way to survive.

My family and myself have been going to burger pit for well over 40 years. It's sad to see that it's closing. My wife's grandmother work there for 40 years as a bookkeeper, so there's a family attachment to the restaurant it's always had really good food. Nothing fancy, just comfort food from the past. There are no restaurants in existence like this anymore. In large towns, the doors were closing in April 2023 due to landlord will not renew these and I'm sure the present owner is ready to retire.

Old school restaurant, won't be around much longer. Wanted my patties medium and they were medium and juicy. Fries come out piping hot every time, exactly they way i like them. Onions, lettuce and cheese enhance the flavor of the tasty burger.

My husband and I finally tried their food. I ordered the mushroom burger and let me tell you, this is by far the BEST mushroom burger I have ever had. The only problem is, it did not sit well with my stomach 😭. Still having stomach issues 🤦‍♀️. Was it worth it? Yes lol
