The labor shortage is real. The manager was also the cook and there was one other employee there. She was manning the register. Even with that as an obstacle, they got my order and prepared it without error. I have always loved the Super Star burger and they didn't disappoint.
One minus, the ice needed replenishment, but I was able to squeeze out enough for my drink.
Nice and clean establishment. Well maintained. A bit slow on serving for fast food, but I guess it’s because the burgers are charbroiled when the order was placed. Great taste.
One Carl's is pretty much like the next although the prices may vary depending on where you are
Very good! It is better to use coupons. Otherwise, your bill will be shockingly high.
Excellent place to grab a bite if you are in that unique area, especially since there isn't much there as far as food goes.
It has no drive-thru, so be prepared to walk inside and order.
Bathrooms are open to the public (meaning you don't need to ask or enter a code) which is always nice, since asking to use the bathroom is almost always necessary nowadays (covid made bathrooms less safe? Idk lol)
Food may come out a little slower than a rush-hour mcdonalds, but the food is made fresh, and the place seems like a revolving door of high-school kids/elderly people, so be patient.
Homeless people abound, like I said, that place is one of the few food places in the area, so people naturally flock to it, especially if they are on foot. A couple vans in the parking lot have people living in them, and there is one guy that stands outside and practices Tai-Chi on passing cars for approximately 3-4 hours if the weather permits (no joke, just drive by around 1pm, you'll see him) but everyone is harmless, and I've never had anyone even ask me for change.
Seating is spacious, extremely spacious. It's one of the bigger dining areas in San Jose, and almost always empty. I think the most people I've ever seen in there at one time is 6, and there are at least 15 seating areas. Very quiet restaurant experience, reminds me of a library.
The food is a little pricey, but that's just Carl's Jr. in general I think, not because of the restaurant jacking up prices.

All in all, a very nice restaurant, probably one of the most hassle-free, quiet, and genuine fast food places out there nowadays. Food is good, spacious seating, bathrooms are large and clean, and the people are nice.
I recommend it. 5 out of 5 stars. I go there about once a week to meet my employer, and we have lunch there. Never had an issue with the food, the staff, the cleanliness, or the people in the area.
If you're ever in the area, it's most definitely a must-try.
We did takeout. I got a chicken swiss bacon burger with onion rings. My girlfriend got a sandwich with sourdough, which came as slices. We both enjoyed our food.
I had a really good experience with one of your employees. A young man with a beard, very genuine. He indulge me in casual conversation while he continue working. I ordered a chicken Green burrito and a handmade chocolate shake totally awesome look better than the picture good job folks.
For fast food, this place is great. I remember back in the late 70’s they were involved in programs at Carlton. That was my first exposure. Many decades later, this place remains our go to. Kids agree. And don’t forget to wave to Jorgen when you drive by. The dude is awesome and will wave back.
Very helpful and nice staff. Good service,. I recommend especially the chicken burger. Is really juicy, not dried as at other restaurants. Their hamburgers are really fresh, not dried compared to other places. Clean place.
I thought the staff was very curteous and made sure my order was correct. I replaced fries with onion rings and the cashier informed me there would be an extra charge. It doesn't sound like much, but it was nice that she informed me. The food was typical of a Carl's Jr. so not much else to say in that regard.
There is no drive thru here, so you'll need to go inside if you want your food to go.
Maybe I had posted the review from my other Google account or something, but I could have sworn I already wrote one for this Carl's Jr. Usually I don't review fast food places unless they stand out for some reason, whether good or bad. This Carl's Jr is no exception.
What makes me love this location, besides the obvious proximity to my home, is the manager there. Mary Lou has been there for as long as I can remember, and while it took me a while to realize how great she is, since then I've realized this Carl's Jr has never messed up my order and provides by far the most consistent experience for me. It seems that even the teen summer employees seem to like having Mary Lou as a manager, or at the very least, aren't ignoring directions, while staring at their phones with frequently rolling eyes (this is the norm in most FoH food service positions based on my personal experience).
I first took notice because she has a very nasally voice, which reminded me incredibly of Louie Anderson's voice. The fact that her name coincidentally shared the "Lou" made it memorable. But, I think her staying power, probably a good couple decades long, of working the same location (she doesn't drive, nor owns a car), her consistent upbeat attitude, and general contribution of positivity to the restaurant is what ensures I don't ever forget her impact. Many may not notice any of this to begin with, as Mary Lou doing her job well should not make you take notice. On the contrary, being noticed is usually indicative of a poorly run dining establishment, so realizing that I wasn't recalling many fine details of my experiences there, it dawned on me why that was...
People who are always trying to improve their corner of the world deserve more recognition I think. Too much energy is spent chasing down societal negativity and casting those elements, along with any people involved, squarely into the spotlight as seemingly preferential to any positive stories. So this is my attempt to get Mary Lou a bit of recognition for something she probably doesn't see as grand or special, but that I want her to know that I have noticed and that I appreciate it each and every time I am a patron of this Carl's Jr location (semi-infrequently now to delay inevitable health issues US dietary norms bring about).
Keep up the good work Mary Lou! If you're a customer of the Camden Ave & Union Ave, SJ location, let her know her hard work is not going unnoticed... at least by me!
Hey, I like this place for a fast food joint. Its still just fast food though. I give them extra point for making a pretty good burger. Its not so greasy and has more substance than most other burger joints. I wish we had better restaurants around here though.
