I had seen this place several times and finally got a chance to dine here. Super good. I had the Spaghetti Al limone and it was absolutely superb. Very balanced flavor and not overly tart. This place is quite nice as it’s more intimate and quieter. Highly recommend.

It was my daughter's birthday and she chose La Locanda for dinner. We had never heard of the place as we're from out of town so we had no expectations. But wow, were we impressed! It is a quaint restaurant with a very "fancy" feel. Inside, the lights were slightly dimmed and the tables were crowded enough to feel cozy but far apart enough to enjoy your company. They were booked for inside the restaurant but we chose to eat out on the patio. It was chilly but they had heaters going . String lights were hung for ambiance. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed the conversations we had with our servers. Their drinks were limited (no soda) but what they offered, wine, tea, and maybe some other drinks (I wasn't paying attention to that portion), were all refreshing. This is the type of restaurant that you bring a date to or a few good friends to impress. They provided bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We ordered prosciutto with melon as an appetizer, ravioli, lasagna, linguine, another plate, and a couple desserts. Each plate was displayed with pride from the chef! They were so beautifully served and the taste was perfect! This was true authentic Italian food filled with so much flavor. Even my 9 year old (who still prefers simple over flavorful) ate every morsel on his plate! The appetizer was refreshing and not something we expected. The clams and shrimp in my linguine were perfectly cooked 🤌 All the seasonings were done so perfectly well that every bite was heaven. You could tell that every single thing was made fresh in the kitchen. Even the desserts were amazing. We ordered neopolitan gelato and tiramisu. Normally, I wouldn't care for these but it was what my daughter and husband ordered. The gelato was served with a candle on top so that we could sing happy birthday to my baby girl 💕 Again, though, each plate was displayed with so much pride from the chef and every bite was leaving you wanting for more. I couldn't believe how delicious both desserts were. I normally don't order desserts while we're out because I tend to think they're too rich and I won't eat anything besides a spoonful. Not here. They were both so delicious and perfectly made. Their tiramisu 🤌💋 We will definitely come back and have already suggested them to our extended family. Perfect Italian dinner experience! But most important to us was that my daughter left happy with her time there and they made her feel celebrated on her bday. Could not ask for more!

Have been here three times since it changed ownership. Love the Angnolloti alla Piemontese. So few places serve these yummy meat filled pastas in a beef and butter sauce. I also recommend the eggplant Involtini appetizer.

Reasonably priced and deliciously flavorful and delicate Italian. I love the small and simple place with a bit of back seating. We loved our dinner under the lights in the back.

As out of towners from the OC, we came across this little Italian gem of a restaurant. Wonderful people, our server was engaging. The owners 10 month old daughter was adorable and added to the overall experience. The food was amazing; so fresh and beautifully prepared...if you haven't been, it's a MUST!!! SLO is lucky to have them!!!

Cozy Italian restaurant with great, friendly service and wonderful food! My wife had the gnocchi and I had the Salmon. Both were fantastic! We rarely give 5-star reviews, but this place definitely earned it. Highly recommend!

Easy-going ambiance coupled with a creative and delicious menu and ample wine list makes La Locanda a favorite destination in San Luis Obispo. The butternut ravioli (Raviola di Zucca) presented with a hint of almond flavor and maybe just a a light honey glaze in the butter and sage finish that was almost like treating yourself to dessert BEFORE indulging in an ample slice of tiramasu with fresh raspberries and blackberries. Whew! And while I love eggplant in just about any vegetarian dish, La Locanda presents a thinly-sliced, amply-layered eggplant parmesan ( Melanzane Parmigiana) with a perfectly herbed tomato sauce. I noticed both tourists and locals were all greeted and treated like old friends.

We had a fabulous dinner last night. One of the best red sauces I have had in a restaurant. I had the fettuccini with meat sauce and my husband linguini with seafood. Both amazing. My Italian grandmother would have loved it. Highly recommend.

Great food for a fair price! The food tastes great and the place is not only clean but the server has a one of a kind ability to describe food with words. "Fluffy, pillowy, melt in your mouth kind of delicious!" Definitely worth your time!

REAL authentic Italian food! We’ve been to Rome, Milan and Florence and this place still is better than the majority of places in Italy. 10/10

My favorite spot in SLO. A small intimate and authentic Italian place. You will likely be served by the wonderful Lucas who will make you want to come back before you even get your food. They always have unique specials however you can never go wrong with their signature lasagna that will melt in your mouth with every bite.

This is an incredibly charming fine-dining Italian restaurant. Very spare and simple decor. Sweet and excellent service. I had the breseaola, meat tortellini in broth; and roasted duck l’orange. Everything was flavorful and well executed. My girl had a salad and the filet with green peppercorn sauce, which she loved. The tiramisu was fluffy and perfect.

Many wonderful items on their menu, not only the lasagna. Service is usually enthusiastic and helpful. Prices very reasonable, as it is with the wine list. There's a small outdoor dining area in back. I've been there ten times in 5 years, and I've noticed a slight slippage in quality of what's coming out of the kitchen. Please don't let that be a trend.
