We had dinner in the Big Sur Restaurant in June, 2023 while staying overnight. I liked this little restaurant, even though it wasn't the fanciest.
We had a nice server who was nice and seemed to do a decent job. Well except one thing. I'll get to that in a second. She took our order promptly. Our food came out fairly quick. There were other tables, but they were not crowded at the time. The food was pretty good. The portions were large enough that neither of us finished our dinners. And the prices were arguably, not too bad. They were not cheap. But they also were not overly expensive either. I guess I would say somewhat fair in this day and age.
Now the one thing. What is it about this area that no matter where we sit down to eat, they get the order wrong. Is this a normal California thing? I ordered a steak rare. She even read it back to us as raw. But when the steak came, it wasn't remotely rare. As such, a good dose of A1 sauce made it a little better. But not all that great. I put on a smile and ate my dinner when she asked. I will not say anything. If in a rare situation, I do. Well then that won't be until after we are done eating. So she probably never knew.
The part that aggravated me, was the check came with it reading, well done instead of the rare or raw she read back to us. This was the only blemish worth mentioning. Other than that, it was a decent dinner. It would have been better had my steak been rare, the way I like it and always order it. But I ate the well done steak anyway. But mistakes like that should not happen. Why read it back if your going to still put in the order wrong?

Intimate dinner! The service was amazing! Family owned. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs, which was well seasoned and crispy outside, as of now best one on the central coast. Location is perfect right by the highway with a peak of the ocean. Thank you, Manuel and family for your hospitality.
What a wonderful hole in the wall type of place. Definitely family run with great food. Very clean inside, good service, excellent prices. Bathrooms were also very clean. Plenty of parking and decent free Wi-Fi.
I would recommend this place and look forward to coming back.
Definitely adding this to list of go-to places in/near Cambria fo4 good affordable food.
Great portions of food. Tasty breakfast n good coffee. The waitress was pleasant and we got our order fairly quickly, being that there was only 1 cook visible. I was pleased with the overall experience
We just arrived in cambria first thing we did was come to our favorite restaurant for breakfast. The food is just really amazing. What i love about this place is that we've been coming here for the last couple years, and the quality n taste of the food remains the same. It's the reason we keep coming back. Our server benito was on point very friendly n courteous . We definitely recommend coming here whether its for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
The prices are very reasonable . This place is very clean n spacious inside n outside.
This restaurant has a fairly large menu and has a little of something for everyone, from seafood, to meat, to pasta and more. We started with an appetizer plate of Fried Calamari. The calamari was not the usual tubes and tentacles, but were strips. They were lightly breaded and tender and came with cocktail and tartar sauces. I ordered the Shrimp and Chips and my wife ordered the Chicken Mushroom Fettucine. Both were food, nothing fancy, but decent portions. Service was extremely fast. Good, basic food.
I honestly can't share the negative experience other users had - we were quite satisfied with our meal. It was way better than expected & definitely better than other restaurants we've been to before. Also, the service was very nice, so we can't complain about that either. We went there twice (once for dinner, once for breakfast) since our motel did not provide either. Both times the food was nice. We fully recommend the place!
Really good food we highly recommend this place. My wife had the ABC Burger it was huge and delicious. It was juice and with lots of Bacon she also had the option of fries or a small salad.
I had the SeaFood Combo. It was so good i almost had to lick the plate. It had the biggest shrimp, scallops and calamari in a delicious Sauce.
It also came with vegetable and rice.
And because I thought it was going to be small plates I also order garlic bread, that's the center place on the picture.
Don't pass this place make sure you go and eat there.
Alicia the waitress was really nice and helpful, she helped us decide on the food and she wasn't wrong.

They serve large portions. Had their spaghetti, fish n chips, and penne pasta. The penne pasta was a bit bland. So wouldn't recommend that, but the spaghetti and fish were good. The place was completely empty at dinner time. Made us a bit nervous about eating there. I hope they usually have more business there. Maybe it's because it was mid week or off season.
Admittedly I came here as a pit stop with no expectations but was very impressed! I ordered the chilaquiles, which were both delicious and well-presented. They have a huge menu, so the restaurant as a whole could be hit or miss, but these are without question a hit.
The food was delicious and the portion was good. Would recommend this to everyone!
For being a roadside diner, this place was really good. The ABC burger was cooked just right and was very juicy. The apple pie had a flaky crust and the right touch of sweetness. Just like grandma would make. Loved this place.
Amazing breakfast! Highly recommended.🤩 I had “Eggs a la mexicana” and it was super tasty! My boyfriend had French toast and he liked it very much as well! We stayed the next hotel and it was quite easy option for breakfast: We would definitely come here again when we pass by San Simeon next time. 🌿
Pleasantly surprised! Five star service start to finish from friendly and competent staff, and a very good tri tip omelette at a fair price. I have noted this charming food spot as a place to return to again.
Fast and friendly service we came here for breakfast with a group. Everyone got what they ordered hot and fresh. They were even able to accommodate my protein oatmeal bowl, which was very much appreciated! staying at the Motel 6 you can get a 12% discount here so definitely worth it!
