I am a huge hot chocolate fan and Mutari's spicy hot chocolate and sipping chocolate is the absolute best I have EVER had. I also really like the ambience and found the staff very friendly and happy to answer questions about their menu. Love this place!
I Love this place! Just walking in fills your senses with the most wonderful smell of chocolate. I had their sipping chocolate which is heavenly! The service is patient and knowledgeable. Try it!
Atmosphere was cozy and the chocolate was phenomenal!! Owners were also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely would recommend if you're a die hard chocolate fan!

What an experience!!!! Us girls went there after volunteering at St. Francis Catholic Soup Kitchen to sit down and relax for a bit. I have to say it was magical and I almost felt like I was in a different country. The frozen hot chocolate was out of this world. Everyone should go and check this magical place out. We drive from SF to Santa Cruz just to get chocolate fro Mutari. Their frozen hot chocolate is the stuff of dreams - super duper deep chocolate, creamy dreamy, and RICH. The chocolate sauce is what I wish every chocolate sauce tasted like, Hershey’s is so far from being on the same level it’s on a different planet. I always get the coconut whip because it’s decadent and goes so well with the freshly roasted cacao nibs that add a delicate, fruity, toasty crunch and textural dimension. And did I mention that I’m pretty sure the entire thing just so happens to be vegan - so lactose intolerant souls like myself can actually enjoy this marvel of a milkshake with no averse consequences??!!!
Their brownie is also insane (fudge, deep chocolate and HUGE) and I always get at least two of their single source chocolate bars, which are always delicious and from interesting countries. I don’t think you can buy anything bad here. Yes they’re pricey but good chocolate costs money!

Delicious bean-to-bar single-origin chocolate. The folks working here are also clearly passionate about and knowledgeable about chocolate, and happy to tell you about it. We really enjoyed the drinking chocolate and truffles. The brownies are also great if you like really rich, slightly gooey versions. Similar to--and perhaps better than--Dandelion Chocolate in San Francisco.
The chocolate tasting tour is amazing. We learned a lot of knowledge about chocolate making and tasted over 10+ chocolate bars. We didn’t know there could be so many nuances in chocolate flavors. Appreciate the owner Katie brought this great experience to us.

Came across this awesome shop as we were walking around DT Santa Cruz. The staff member helping us was super friendly and knowledgeable about the chocolates. He offered us samples and explained how of them varied. There are many options available and all but the milk chocolate are vegan. This place definitely hits the spot when you’re craving high quality chocolates. I’ll be returning to try the chocolate flight.
Cozy place with top notch chocolate drinks. Friendly service. Try the Coconut-cacao ice tea, it's perfectly refreshing. We ordered one to drink on site but after trying it, had to order another one to go. Also tried the Himalayan pink salt hot chocolate. Definitely taste the salt.
Really charming spot downtown for chocolate lovers. I went there for dessert with a friend after a moms night out and Mutari didn’t disappoint.
The place itself has a great atmosphere. And smells delicious too. Service is good and friendly. They will teach you the most amazing details about cacao.
We had a few truffles and I also tried the Coconut-Cacao iced tea. Everything was delicious.
