For three days, I was CRAVING a substantive salad, so my person brought me to Harvest & Hearth.
What? A pizza place?
First, it's adorable. There is a giant brick pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant, and you can watch the crafting of your pie. But also?
THEY HAVE THE BEST SALADS IN TOWN.
I was warned that they are 'family style' - that one bowl is intended to serve four people as a starter. And I did share a little, but wow, the poppyseed dressing was outstanding and I finished it off myself.
The pizza was also lovely - we ordered three for the table, including the BBQ sauce/chicken pizza, which was tangy and unique and really lovely.
I'm sure in fairer weather there is patio seating as well, and we will 100% be back.
Excellent wood fired stone oven baked pizza spot near the water away from downtown Saratoga. Pizza is excellent with just enough of the smoky stone oven taste. I am no vegetarian but the gluten free cauliflower crust was much better than any other GF bread product I have tried. Desserts are excellent also, baked brownie sundae was a hit.
Harvest and Hearth has the best pizza in the Capital District. Thin crust, baked in a wood-fired oven, and with an exquisitely matched blend of toppings.
They also have great salads. Their Mammy's Poppy Salad is dependably excellent, and they have a daily special that is often even better
Wife and I go there fairly regularly to share a salad and a small pizza -that's a perfect dinner for the two of us.
Super pizza, quickly done in an attractive wood fired oven. Tasty huge organic salads. Service was a bit slow but not too bad. The indoor setting is not attractive. Could use some design. The outdoor deck is much more pleasant, as it overlooks lots of watersports.
BUT...it's ALL ABOUT THE PIZZA, YUM!!
Really good pizza with a perfectly crispy crust, good ingredients. Good salad. Good service. Wish we sat outside overlooking the picturesque waterway, but ate instead in the main dining room which is devoid of design
