Place rocks, don’t listen to the haters. Super low key and tasty bbq with better sides than most bbq places get away with. No beer? No bathroom? All right next door so stop complaining lol. Wifi pw is chillyfish106
The meats (brisket, pork and pastrami) are all good, the sides Mac and Cheese, Cornbread, Corn, Brussels sprouts and Hush puppies (overcooked) were OK at best. Stick with the meats and you won’t be disappointed.
The BBQ here is excellent. I enjoyed everything. We had the "pig out Jr." which included ribs, chicken, brisket, sausage and pulled pork. All was very good. The ribs are saucy, but not too messy. Tender but still have enough chew. The brisket is 'cut with a fork' tender. The sausage seems to be house made and tastes a bit like Italian sausage. The chicken is moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. I usually don't eat chicken skin, but I couldn't get enough of this one. The pulled pork is moist, but could use a little sause, which is no problem as you are supplied with 3 choices. Carolina mustard sauce, spicy, which to me was a little thin, and sweet, which was my favorite. It also includes 2 sides, we had mac and cheese and coleslaw. The mac and cheese was good, but not great. The coleslaw, was not my cup of tea, but my father thought it was amazing. It's made without mayo, so if you're into that sort of thing, than it's perfect. It's low key, small and nicely decorated. The kitchen is open, so you can see and smell the food cooking. Our food came out fast and the service was very friendly. We will definitely be back.
P. S. One small complaint: there are no bathrooms.
I'm new to the area and have been having trouble finding good food. I gave Legal Swine a try and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered brisket, mac and cheese, and slaw. Everything was great! The slaw is super fresh and not slathered with mayo like most other places. The brisket was smokey and tender. The portion was huge. I have plenty left over. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The restaurant is nice and clean. I will definitely return!

I had them cater a birthday party at my house. They came on time with the food truck. The food was amazing and they set it all out nicely for service. They left the leftover trays for ease of continued eating. The ribs were sooo good they were demolished as was the corn on the cob. Great sauces were also left. I couldn’t be happier with the food or the team!!!
Legal swine catered our very small wedding (16 people) and we are SO happy we chose them. The food was amazing, the meats all delicious, the sides were great, I thought the kimchi pickles were a creative addition and the portions were VERY generous. The delivery was punctual and easy, everyone was raving about the food the whole weekend. We are bummed we don't live closer to this restaurant :)
The staff was friendly and professional. The FOOD was GREAT. I had the Brisket plate with Cornbread and Mac&Chez. My son had the pulled pork with House cole slaw and Bourbon Corn. Everything was really good. I will be back the next time I'm passing through
We catered a small dinner (20 people) with food from Legal Swine in early July. I have to say I don't like the name, but the food and service were top notch! I was coming from out of town and Desmond worked with me to create a menu of meats and sides that were perfect for our event. Everyone raved about the food (my favorite were the ribs) and nothing went to waste. Highly recommend!
I just finished eating, ordered through Door Dash, and I was SO impressed I haddd to come write a review! I got the 2 meat/2 sides (chicken and beef brisket / beans and no mayo cole slaw)....and I’m thoroughly impressed. All the local “bbq” I had was mediocre, after having real southern food. This is the best can get in NY. I’m the type that likes everything (even extra) well done....the chicken was great, nice and moist in the inside, but crispy on the outside...good seasoning. The beef brisket was phenomenal, soooo much flavor it didn’t need a drop of sauce. Unlike any other I had. Bark on it was great. Typically not a fan of cole slaw, and hardly for beans either....but wow. The beans were spot on, just amazing, nice and meaty too. Perfect taste. Love the no mayo slaw...had a good spice to it, though it could’ve had a bit more liquid (I’m assuming vinegar). I didn’t think I’d like the fries, but they were great too. I got just plain fries but now I know the meat topped fries would’ve been amaziiiing. I’m still deciding how I feel about the kimchi pickles LOL I loveeee spicy food, and can handle the spiciest. But these guys pack a punch, don’t let them fool you with their fresh smell!! Lol but that’s bc I had pre conceived notions about kimchi in general, as they use fish sauce to make it and I don’t like fish (idk how they make it at this restaurant, just kimchi in general is how it’s made).
The sauces: I got the spicy BBQ & the mustard sauce.
I was confused at first, expecting what you’d imagine BBQ sauce....but it was light, thin, vinegar based and nice and spicy...my new favorite! The mustard sauce was good too, thicker and complimented the food. It was all great. The only thing I wished for was the more sauce on the cole slaw....but it was still really good!
ALSO BIG UPS to them, the only place that ever listened to the “special requests” on DoorDash!! I’ll be ordering again this week‼️ 😁
The ribs are flavorful fall off the bones good, corn bread and baked beans very good too. Macaroni salad dry and tasteless with a bite. Overall not over the top, but satisfying good meal.
We found this place on Yelp, reviews were really good 4.5 out 5. Drove to it and got a little confused, cuz this place is right behind a gas station and from outside looks like "whole in a wall." We got very skeptical! But it went from 0-100 in no time. Place looks very cool inside. Owners were very kind. But what most importand food was beyond!!! Thise ribs are the best thing I ever tried!!! It was 4 of us and we.all got different things, every1 was amazed by the taste of it.
Took the dog for a drive and stopped by the Legal Swine. I enjoyed there dry rubbed wings and the buffalo Mac and cheese bites and we split one of there pork egg rolls. We had a great time.
I would have to say in all fairness i don't give out 5 stars alot because it just doesn't exist anymore.4 star rating from me means you gave great customer service and that your food in this case was above average. Now that being said there's not alot of restaurants selling barbecue in ulster county so really how can i compare legal swine to anything but a few small places like hickory pit or that place in wallkill on 44 55 .I personally think legal swine has very attentive employees and they work hard to give the product they can.so go try for yourself.you must try the redneck egg role
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! I HAVE NOT HAD GOOD BBQ SINCE I MOVED UP TO NY. THANK YOU LEGAL SWINE FOR ENDING THAT STREAK!!!!! My only complaint was with that mustard sauce and it's a complaint because they need to give you more with a take out order and by more I mean a I.V. BAG size so i can hook it directly up to my body so damn good!!!!!
