This 5 star review is based on Chinese take out. If you are looking for a traditional or higher end Chinese cuisine or experience this is not it.
This is a solid Chinese take out joint. This is my favorite in the area because they have slight differences in the food compared to many other Chinese takeout.
Some people might not like it, some might hate it and some might not even notice it.
For example they have carrots in the chicken in broccoli. Not a lot and not just random piece’s that might have fell in but they add in a small bit of thinly sliced carrots. The boneless spareribs are very different. Most places have smaller pieces covered in sauce. Here it’s bigger pieces with not a lot of sauce. The wontons are my personal favorite. I don’t know why or how but they are just good.
I have ordered here dozens of times and the order is always correct, made in a timely fashion and they are always friendly.
Just a solid Chinese take out joint.
It's been awhile since I've been here, but last night I stopped in to grab one of my favorite dishes. Singapore Rice Noodles. They were cooked perfectly with lots of chicken, shrimp, pork, and good sized chunks of vegetables. The curry had a decent heat and tons of flavor. Everything I was craving.
I've been eating here for decades and I still enjoy it whenever I come back into the area.
Food was good Chinese food. Never took name when placing order. Due to covid wasn't allowed in store. Said 20 min and it was full 45 min before I somehow got the right order. Pick-up seemed a little chaotic. Thought overall the taste and the price were worth it.
Put off the entrees, my mother and I are full for the moment after just wonton soup and shrimp toast. The quart had 10 wontons, most place give you only 6 at most. I'm sure we are going to enjoy the Lemon Chicken and Happy Family. We ate in the restaurant years ago the waiter was fantastic, on the ball. We tipped him $ 17**, he more than earned it.
Szechuan King is located on Main Street in Saugerties, NY. Hopefully we'll get passed this pandemic, and their restaurant will be open for business again, when it does I highly recommend this place. Until then if you can't wait there is the take-out side.
Have been a customer since they opened, which was at least 20 to 25 years... Kit and his staff always have a friendly and warm offering the same two questions upon entering. "How are.. ? " ( The family, you, your day, ) Followed up with making sure that our order is taken as soon as we're ready to do so. I couldn't even try to say the number of times we've ordered special "off menu dishes , discovered after tryin a dish suggested by kit or his chefs. They even re made and replaced my entire order with out charging anything extra after a sizeable order I'd made, took almost 90 minutes from me to arrive and pick it up. This was almost a $ 100.00 order.! There will always be people who prefer one type of place over a other and for many reasons. However because of it's longevity and genuine relationship it has with it's customers... There's is only ONE Kit, and ONE Szechuan King.
Very good food for a reasonable price.
The best Chinese food I’ve had in years. The egg rolls are insanely good. Shrimp and broccoli delicious. The fried rice actually had pork in it! The general Tso’s is actually spicy!
Best Chinese food in Ulster County, egg rolls are great. The owner Kit is a little rough around the edges with an old school mentality but overall he's nice guy.
Great place for chinese take out. The owner is really down to earth and just a nice fun guy in general. We started coming here about 8 months now, and so far everything we ordered is really good. A favorite of ours is the cashew chicken, general tso chicken, and the beef chow fun is really good too. They been here for like 33 years, so apparently they are doing something right. If you find yourself in the little town of Saugerties wanting chinese take out, I recommend you trying this place.
Great food! Egg rolls are extraordinary.
Not sure what people are fussing about. I enjoyed it. I used to go here every week when I was a teenager and loved it. Fifteen years later, I come back to the area and the same owner is there. The food was really good and it was polite service.
Try there peanut sauce, goes great with dumplings, cant find it anywhere else. Local, long time, family owned business, clean place, foods tasteful and fresh, not bland and fake. Beautiful dine in area on the side (door is somewhat hard to locate at first glance)
