A place that’s reminiscent of your kindergarten classroom but with food that’s top notch. They have a good balance of savory and sweet options, and the sandwiches are never too sweet or savory. The biscake comes with a lot of sweet toppings but the buttermilk biscuit underneath balances them out with its flaky, slightly salty taste. The cheddar chive biscuit goes really well with most savory options.
Stopped in because of the good reviews, and it definitely didn't disappoint! Food and coffee was absolutely delicious, hot and fresh. Service was very friendly and kind. Will definitely come back!
Just a heads up for those who care. It is open seating so I did have to wait a few min for a table and you have to bus your own table. But it is upfront and posted, no issue to me.
Tried 3 most popular dishes.
1. Most delicious, biscuits & gravy. Hands down.
2. The Spanish fly - the buttermilk biscuits are so creamy good. On this breakfast sandwich, they melted a cheese that steals the creamy goodness of the biscuits and mutes it with a salty cheese. I ate it enjoyably once I dug out the cheese.
3. The Fast Break sandwich - had a red sauce my friend didn't care for because it had cumin. She scrapped it off and enjoyed the sandwich.
*the best biscuit* in town.
A bit pricey in UD but food is so worth it! Plus, if it’s in Cap Hill, the price will probably double. The portion is also very large… Barbie pink dessert 👌🏼
Parking was easy. Good vibes, fun music, quality food and even coffee. Will come back!!
Yeah I've been coming here since it was in the little old place a few doors down, and it's always been my favorite breakfast in town. DELICIOUS . Good coffee. The current location certainly doesn't have the charm, and now they've raised the prices significantly...I paid about 20 bucks for a Spanish fly with a 12 oz coffee, and this in the University district. It means I won't be coming out of my way for this anymore, and I fear for their longevity with such prices in this area.
You probably wouldn't notice this place walking passed it but it was actually delicious. Its more of a low frills place from an aesthetic perspective, almost fast food-like in a lot of ways but their food is anything but. These biscuit creations taste so good that I almost took one to have later... A must try sneaky spot in the U-District for a tasty, inexpensive brunch. If they had a bar, I might not leave.
Decent breakfast sandwich but the coffee could be better. I liked that the sandwich was made in a biscuit!! That was super yummy - I got the recommendation from the girl who helped me. The sandwich was pretty large and good flavor, however my vanilla latte was a little bland. The inside of the restaurant had a ton of seating but no one was there, it’s only counter-service so seems like mostly to-go orders.
Great biscuits and biscuit sandwiches, delicious lattes and other coffee too! I’ve been a loyal customer for 2+ years now. Only complaint is sometimes they use the same grilling pans for items with feta cheese and the rest which makes your egg and ham in sandwiches have a strong feta taste. It’s cool for feta lovers but some might have problems finishing their food.
Second time here
First was in 2017 .. same amazing quality of biscuits and coffee
Cheesy
Cheese and chive
All good
Sooooo delicious! I ordered ‘The fast break’ (bacon, eggs cheddar and roasted tomato jam) on a buttermilk biscuit and it was just perfect. Coffee and orange juice were great as well. Highly recommended!
