Coming from Canada it can often be hard to find truly fantastic, authentic Mexican food. First of all the menu is fantastic. It's large without being intimidating and it has a wonderful mix of both breakfast, brunch and then traditional Mexican entrees. While you will find the normal street tacos. On the menu, I definitely encourage you to check out some of the entrees on the back side. They are absolutely wonderful! Menu they state that they're a family owned restaurant and their salsa is actually spicy and this is very true. The salsa is quite spicy. Portions are large and generous. Our shrimp entree had eight large shrimp on it as well as a wonderful serving of rice and beans and tortillas. Service is prompt and attentive and the room itself is lively, colorful and the washrooms are clean.
I highly recommend El 🫎
Atmosphere and service were both fantastic. The Paloma Rosa was perfect balance of tequila and grapefruit juice. The carnitas Street tacos were very good. And the plantain with cinnamon sugar dessert was a nice finish.
This will now be my go-to Mexican place. After moving up north from the southwest, I have been struggling to find a good authentic place, and this is INCREDIBLE. Flavorful food, colorful atmosphere. Look no further than El Moose
Super friendly staff. Authentic food served on traditional Mexican plates.
The menu features entrees from diverse regions. Everything we've had so far has been delicious!
El Moose in Ballard was a surprising location for such a delicious Mexican restaurant with delicious fajitas. I would recommend anybody in the area who likes the style of food (or any visitors missing it) to pay this restaurant a visit.
Lovely and cozy place, super friendly staff and delicious food! We got Camarones al Tequila, guacamole and the flan and everything was yummy!
Great authentic Mexican food options. I was with some friends having a mini reunion. We were loud at times and they were nice enough to let us have our fun. Two problems; at the end of the meal they kept coming to us more frequently to see if we were done. There was plenty of open seats so it’s not like they were trying to make room for a wait list. We just felt like we were being rushed. The other problem was separating the bill. I just ended up paying most of the bill because I didn’t want the hassle.

Nice small place. The food is fresh and delicious with every bite.
The restaurant can get filled fast. Parking can be difficult.
Do try their "street tacos".
Love this place for the most authentic Mexican breakfasts. Everything from scratch and house made. Huevos rancheros. Divorciados. Enchiladas de Puya. All superb and satisfying!
Cozy and authentic mexican food in Ballard area 😋. Tried manchamanteles and it was amazing. The home made chips with salsa are one the best I've tried. Staff was super friendly and food came out quick.
The menu has a decent variety and good prices.I will definitely come back. Parking can be challenging in the area.
This is now my favorite Mexican restaurant in seattle. The food here felt more authentic than most of the places I've been here which tend to be more Americanized. I got the carne asada a la tampiqueña and it was delicious. It came with three tortillas which was the perfect amount. My one complaint is that I wish the tortillas in sauce that came with my plate was seasoned rice instead. I also noticed the rice plates going out to other people were white rice which isn't as good. Also, the food was definitely on the more expensive side with my plate being $23 before tip/tax.
Definitely would love to come here again. The server was also very nice. Ask for the hot sauce, they have a delicious and spicy house made salsa :)
Super authentic & unpretentious. We felt like we want to come back again.
Relatively cheap, despite inflation.
This dish is tender pork and nopales (= cactus) simmered in tomatillo sauce.
Margaritas great. Wine was terrible, but I'm ignoring it. Service fantastic.
Wow cannot wait to return!
The sopas were incredible, the pepino margarita was so good. Delicious fresh salsas and incredible food
Easily a top Mexican food restaurant in Ballard. Almost everything on the menu is top notch. Pick your mole carefully to make sure you get the flavors you want. Get the chips and salsa selection plate. If they dropped their prices a bit would be perfect.
Amazing Mexican brunch!! Their house made tortilla chips are seriously the best I've ever had, esp with their salsas and chunky guacamole done properly. They are just thick, salty, crunchy pure happiness.
Loved my Mexican egg scramble (name escapes me presently) and the warm tortillas it came with made it super, super filling. Also their horchata latte was divine, and appreciate that they have oat milk. I also recall years ago coming here and being blown away by a dish with chicken liver and a mind blowing mole sauce... guess I'll have to come back soon for dinner and see if they still have it :) Also the space is super colorful and charming and the staff very sweet and helpful~ highly, highly recommend!!
A million stars! Love this place!
The food was amazing, best I've had in Seattle! Drinks were strong and delicious and everyone was friendly and very nice! I'd recommend the pollo adobado, and chips and salsa because they make an amazing delicious peanut salsa!! 🤤
Amazing tacos, got the shredded chicken. Super tasty. The house habanero hot sauce was also delicious and very spicy 🔥😋 Brunch menu looked great too, will be back!
El Moose is a fantastic Mexican restaurant near the old Ballard area. It's very authentic, has a decent sized menu, good variety, good prices and really good tasting food. Although they are open for dinner as well, they are really known for their great brunch. Their staff is very friendly and food comes out pretty quick here. Drinks are on the smaller side but they are quite strong. Parking can be tough in this area too. Would highly recommend coming here if you haven't before.
Really great brunch spot! Lots and lots of brunch egg options. I really liked my fajitas and my friend loves the shrimp in tequila sauce. The fajitas were better than average but I definitely had better fajitas elsewhere. Downside is the restaurant is a bit small and cramped. Service is very quick. Would come back for brunch.
