Bramling Cross is a local restaurant in Ballard that has a mix of food, with an emphasis on sandwiches. They have a decent sized menu and prices are decent but portions are pretty big. Their drinks are poured very well, their staff is friendly and they have a good amount of seating inside and outside. There is very little parking around here, so be prepared to walk, and they do close earlier in the night so make sure to arrive in the early evening. Their wagyu meatball sandwich is amazing!
Updated: still an awesome place for gatherings with friends or family. My previous review was posted 2 years ago and still one of the best places to grab a bite with friends and family. I got the double jeopardy burger special and it was fantastic. Bring your appetite. I didn't order any appetizers this time. But I was really full.
2 years ago: Amazing Ethan Stowell restaurant. You must have the Osso Bucco and the Dynamite chicken. Absolutely amazing and a generous portion. The fried chicken is a whole chicken so it is great for sharing. The rest of the menu does not disappoint. The other starters I have had are all very good. My favorite was the crab dip and the chicken liver patte. I have visited this restaurant several times and my experience was great every time. Great restaurant for a date or large groups. Nice selection of beer and wine. Ask your server for recommendations. They are very knowledgeable. Bring your appetite!!
Bottom line up front: Another great Ethan Stowell restaurant that combines the best of many worlds from homemade pasta to bar food snacks to southern fried chicken. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great restaurant and great menu. Good selection of cocktails and beer. Big space, but limited seating that can fill up quite quickly during happy hours and weekends.
The food is diverse. You can snack on bar food from pretzels, wings, and fries, etc. You can have a nice piece of grilled coho or chicken. You can sample Ethan Stowell's homemade pappardelle. The options are endless which makes this place great.
The most impressive option, however, is the dynamite chicken. This stuff was money. I 100% recommend getting this with the biscuit it's served with. I also got it spicy and got a side of honey to dip in. The combo was incredible.
Plenty of options for anyone you choose to bring here. Would definitely recommend this place!
Bramling Cross is an upbeat and festive gastropub. The definition of a gastropub is "a pub that specializes in serving high-quality food." Well, that's exactly what you can expect here. We have had a number of wonderful meals and drinks at this Ballard hot spot. Just the other night we had a great holiday meal that included cod and a rib eye steak. And, to top it off, we had the bartender's recommendation, "Merry & Mischief," a light scotch drink with just the right balance of sweetness. Bravo! The atmosphere is upbeat. The service is exceptional.
Some of the best fried chicken in Seattle. The kitchen consistently produces high quality, ultra fresh dishes. Very impressed with the quality and consistency, a big recommendation from me.
Gastro pub = smart, well executed food in some fancy digs where you want to hang out for a long time. All that is served up with excellent, unpretentious service. Totally recommend.
The Pinchy Bois pop up was fun - a warm and tasty buttered lobster roll with Old Bay seasoned french fries and a celery aoli. Good to see Ballard Avenue coming back to life!
Restaurant week strikes again. Fried chicken collared greens banging burgers pickled fries fabulous desserts and on point apps.
Super tasty spicy fried chicken. Happy hour 1700-1900 daily at the bar!
Overall a very good experience. I went here during the Fall 2017 Seattle Restaurant Week, so for a special I had the opportunity to try several appetizers. The cauliflower soup, pretzels, and chicken liver mouse were great. The endive salad was a nice compliment, but I wouldn't order it on its own. The fried oysters did not do much for me.
For dinner I had the Bramling Burger with pickle fries. It was great. My date had the dynamite chicken. We both agreed it was good, but there are a few other places in Seattle to get better fried chicken.
Desert was good, but by this time we both were stuffed. So no comment on the sorbet and pineapple upside down cake, but the restaurant is a good place if you are looking for a lot of food.
Finally, I should also mention great beer selection, good service, and atmosphere.
