This is the best Chinese food I have eaten in the Seattle It is full of color, aroma and taste, and the service is also very friendly. Every dish has the color they should have. In many Chinese restaurants in the United States, no matter what dish you order, it will always be the color of soy sauce. The family in charge of the restaurant is from Taiwan. In addition to Chinese, they can also speak Taiwanese.
Delicious and flavorful Chinese food in the International District. I particularly recommend the hot & sour soup and the hand-shaven barleygreen noodles. Packed with chewy noodles, fresh veggies, and tender squid, this dish is a high point on the menu. The kind staff provide excellent service. A favorite for dining in or taking out.
We have been coming here for years and Shanghai Garden is always excellent. Great for large parties of people. We ordered about 12 dishes for 10 very hungry people and every dish was excellent. It was about $25 per person, so the price was normal for Seattle. The eggplant, the hand shaved barley noodles and the orange chicken were excellent. We will keep coming back.
Surprisingly better than expected! Shrimp is the the best, crispy and still get to retain the taste of freshness. Had rice cake, tofu and veggie - all are pretty good. Would be happy to visit again.
Great food green barley noodles are outstanding bit really expensive
Shanghai Garden is a time-tested, honored, reliable, and truly amazing restaurant.
The wait time, even at their busiest times, is rarely more than 10 minutes, and once you're seated to the time you're served, 20 minutes tops.
Best of all, the food is consistently amazing.
I highly recommend the green shaved barley noodles, they melt like heaven in your mouth with a delightful, light sauce and delicately scrambled eggs.
The sweet chili fried shrimp - so crispy, so tasty, so flavorful.
The food is so delicious, before you know it, all you've got is a table full of empty plates.
Do yourself a favor and thoroughly enjoy a tasty dinner at this little hidden treasure of Seattle's Chinatown district.
Great neighborhood Chinese spot. Known for their hand-shaven barley noodles but everything is really solid here. Vegetable moo-shu and Peking Duck (order ahead!) are other standouts. Had kung pao tofu on my last visit and it was 10/10.
The hand shaven noodle had good texture but was a little greasy. Personally I think the portion was also just a little bit small for $20 compared to surrounding restaurants for what you could buy for $20. I would only come here again if my friend wanted to go which is the situation that happened. It's not something I would come out the way for though..
The food here was quite good. The atmosphere was casual. I went around 5 on a Sunday, and while the restaurant was busy, there was no wait for a seat. The vegetable fried rice with egg could have used a little more seasoning, but was still quite nice. The Kung Pao chicken was extremely tasty. Somewhere out there there is an empty jar of Skippy wanting it's peanuts back. This dish was very heavy on the peanuts. Both dishes ordered where quite plentiful. I am looking forward to eating The leftovers soon.
The aquarium added to the ambiance.
Love the house special rice cakes with chicken, shrimp, calamari and napa cabbage. The hot and sour soup was also very good - loaded with tofu, mushrooms and bamboo shoots. A very satisfying meal!
One of our family’s favorite restaurants. The food is consistently good, the atmosphere is pleasant and the owners and staff are friendly. Our favorite order includes Chef’s Special tofu, green beans, and house special chow mein. Always good! We get them for take out sometimes too.
Pretty solid noodles! The base flavor could be more exciting, but the noodles were great, the chicken, shrimp, and egg was top notch!
The pace itself feels a little older but ok. The staff was friendly and fast.
In my opinion, Shanghai Garden is one of the top three best restaurants in Seattle, and by far the best Chinese one. The wait staff is also so kind and attentive and has been there for years and years.
Some of my favorite items include:
- Hot and sour soup. Best in the city.
- Hand-shaven Barleygreen Noodle Chow Mein. I’ve never had this anywhere else and it’s a favorite. My kids (ages 3 and 6) love these noodles so much that we often order two.
- Tofu with Black Bean Sauce
- Mooshu. Delicious, and pancakes are fresh.
- Vegetable steamed dumplings
So glad Shanghai Garden is here in Seattle for us to enjoy!
Enjoyed sizzling beef.
Tasty and tender.
Great for a post game meal! Great menu selection and attentive service. We'll definitely be back to try more things to find a few favorites
