Great Central American food vibe. Not your basic Mexican food. The PUPUSAS 🤤they were🔥🔥🔥. Highly recommend the mixed ones. Tacos were not so great. The tortillas were kinda cold, not sure why but wasn’t worth getting upset with the waitress over. The waitress, was WONDERFUL, super friendly! She was dope. To top it off we got the hot chocolate and churros that was a $5 special, kids kept beg’n for, and I’m sooooo glad we got it bc daaaamn it was soooo yummy. The hot chocolate was made with fresh Hispanic chocolate. So good!
It's so darn difficult to find good Mexican food, but Luna Azul will leave you craving for more. I had the chicken mole with an excellent paloma with fresh grapefruit. Our server was kind and the entire party throughly enjoyed their meal. A little pricey, but given the rise in food costs, I didn't mind it as much. I also saw that they have a happy hour. :)
I highly recommend eating here. We were able to pick out a table right away and had the most delicious whipped guacamole and chips to start. Everything was so delicious! We had two empanadas to start: the mushroom and the chicken which were both stellar. I ordered the street tacos and got four varieties: pollo (chicken), al pastor, carnitas, and the award winning 3LP - each were so delicious in a variety of ways. My favorite was the al pastor and my husband loved his bite of my 3LP taco best. The horchata was fresh and sweet. Hubby ordered the Cali Burrito and looked like he was in heaven after his first bite!
The salsa bar had at least eight different varieties that varied from spicy to mild. I personally loved the creamy Mild Zucchini, lime, and cilantro salsa (see photo). We were so excited about our delicious food that we even ordered a churro and flan to go and are looking forward to enjoying those when we get home (or on the way if we decide we can't wait)!
If you're looking for delicious food, please give Abuelita's Kitchen a try! I think you'll enjoy your visit!!
[Note: This restaurant was previously called Luna Azul and the owners are currently changing their name.]
As an amateur taco critic, 5 stars don’t come easily. These homemade tortillas were well executed and delicious. The signature 3LP taco is a mixture of carnitas and pork belly, the combo plays well with a balance of fat and flavor.
To top it off the various homemade salsas ranged in spicy levels, the sweet habanero was rich with flavor and properly hot! Well done at least for the the taco plate, can’t speak to other items.
I don’t ever eat Mexican food because I am Mexican myself so we cook Mexican food at home. But my friend from Argentina and I saw this place on tiktok and it is wayyyyy better than I expected! And I was expecting a 10/10! Great salsas, aguas frescas, arroz and frijoles and everything was absolutely amazing!
Some of the very best Mexican food I've ever had, and I've had LOTS. Our party of 12 was just as delighted as I was, too. This is not your average gringo Mex joint, drowned in cheese and canned sauce, just like all the others. Here you'll find fresh and unique flavors, generous portions, attractive pricing, and fast and friendly service to boot. We had street tacos, chile relleno, camarones y arroz, burrito al pollo, and more, and everyone was thoroughly pleased with their food. The rich and smooth guacamole was a treat and the house hot sauce was exceptional. The delicious tortillas appeared to be handmade, and even the rice and beans were superb. It's a little hard to find, the name of the place is changing (as of Sep 2023) and the signage is a little obscure, but keep looking. We can't wait to go back!
Renamed Abuelita’s Kitchen, this place is not fancy but the food was fantastic. It’s a combination of Salvadoran - Mexican and the flavors pop. The owner is kind, friendly, and happy, and we loved it. Street parking.
I really enjoyed Luna Azul. I visited on a Tuesday night with some friends. They have a large bar at the entrance and table seating in the back. We specifically visited because of the restaurant's Taco Tuesday promo. As of writing they offer 4 tacos for $6, $7, or $7.50 depending on the fillings. I went with an order of two chorizo and two al pastor tacos. The tacos were great. The meats were flavorful with nice seasoning. The tacos my friends ordered looked great and they raved about them as well. Because one of my friends ordered the 3LP, the waiter said Luna Azul had actually won a taco competition in Everett two months prior. Because of this my other friend and I ordered four of the 3LP tacos. I definitely understand why they won an award for the taco because it is a blend of chicharron, pork belly, and shredded pork and it just oozes fat and flavor. The big innovation is the crispy chicharron that adds a strong crunch adding to the experience. We all enjoyed it so much we're planning to return already. Also all the people working there were friendly and cool to talk to. I'm already planning on what I'm getting when I return.
If I could give this place 10 stars I absolutely would! As a fat white guy I'd like to think I know what a good taco is. Boy let me tell you, this place is amazing. Every bite of food put a smile on my face, especially their award winning 3LP taco. Sweet mercy is was like heaven in my mouth! They have a self serve salsa bar where each salsa beautifully compliments whatever taco, burrito, or any food item you order. And the service was fantastic! Friendly and super helpful. Run, don't walk, to (What is now known as) Abuelita's Kitchen! You won't be sorry.
They are undergoing a name change, but the nachos I had were delicious. Far from the ballpark-type nachos you get at other restaurants, these had real cheese, well-prepared pinto beans, grilled veggies, and crisp chips. Service was friendly and pleasant. Highly recommend.
