We could always trust our Seattle friends to pick out best spots for our brief visit. Since our two families were juggling 3 kids, we opted to order take out from Donburi. This place is a regular for them, and it was incredible. Take out was ready on time for pick up, and when I got it back to the house, it was pristine shape. Luckily, our friends live fairly close. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I ordered a chirashi don which had a good sized serving of sashimi. I wanted to eat my friends’ sake don and spicy tuna don also. My wife and son ordered tonkatsu which all kept its crunchy fried batter and huge portions. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to snap a photo of all the food because everyone was hungry and I didn’t want them to wait on me to take food photos. Definitely worth a visit to this restaurant. Would come back 10/10.
Donburi is a small chain of Japanese food restaurants. They have a parking lot on the side which is great since Airport Way can be tough sometimes. Inside they have about 8 tables and a few stools to sit on, but most tables are sectioned off. The staff here are friendly, although sometimes it takes a minute to notice you when walking in. Their menu is small, but it's because they focus on a few food items. Prices are decent, but portion sizes are on pretty good for the bowls. They could do a bit of work on their sauces, but overall a solid lunch spot.
What a fantastic meal we had. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Everything we had tasted fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Volcano Don, Crispy Tonkatsu Don, and the side Pork Curry. The Crispy Tonkatsu Don was so juicy and packed a punch of flavor. The Pork Curry was the best I ever had. The Volcano Don is off the chain good. There is only one thing I did not like. And that was the service. There is none. No one to greet you. No one to explain the menu. Or recommend what to add to your poke bowl.
This place is located right next to an overpass, making it easy to miss it and hard to find street parking. I don’t think the lot next to the building is theirs so I had to park on the street behind the restaurant.
This is a very small quick service restaurant that you have to use the kiosk to put in your order. They only have 3 two seater tables open with 2 bar stool seats facing the window when I visited. All the other seats were closed off.
This place feels and breathes japanese rice bowl (don) and their menu is pretty simple and straight forward
Salmon poke - 5/5
I honestly don’t know where the salmon came from and how it was stored, but it taste very fresh and has a very nice orange color to it. The cucumbers, tobiko and seaweed salad makes the whole thing taste really good. The lettuce, imitation crab meat and the wasabi was sub par. I got this with 50/50 rice / salad. I would love to see some edamame and maybe some other greens. The yuzu sauce is also really good with the poke.
Veggie Croquette - 6/5 (not a typo)
My god is this good. Very crispy outside, a soft mushy inside. This was fried to PERFECTION. This is what I’ve always imagined what frying mashed potatoes on crack would taste like. The katsu sauce is very good for dipping, but it’s not as thick or as sharp as you would expect for katsu.
Overall they used some packaged stuff from distributors, but it’s definitely worth a try. I will definitely try their other donburi next time.
Oh my word this place is amazing! I had the chicken teriyaki with spicy umami sauce. Don’t skip on the sauce! It’s not that spicy and is mind-blowing good.
The food was very good. A nice little hidden spot in Georgetown. I had the Salmon Poke with rice.
We came in as a group of 7 at noon on a Monday. It wasn't too busy and we were able to be seated easily.
Rated service a 4 because the woman who took our order just stared me down. I had a hard time hearing her and needed her to repeat herself.
What a tasty place. Portions are reasonable. Prices are okay for what you get. Limited dining tables available for eating. There’s one big touch screen for ordering.
Cramp parking lot adjacent to restaurant shared with other places but there are a number of spots available.
Ordered Una-gyu Don and it was great. The beef was juicy and tender and unagi was very flavorful. Will be going back to try out their chirashi don.
Our favorite carry out restaurant every time we visit Seattle…2-3 times a year! The chicken teriyaki Donburi and poké bowls were super spicy, flavorful and absolutely the BEST!!
Quick turn around, very easy online order.
My favorite is their Chirashi. Generous portion for that price and fish tastes fresh. One of my favorite place to get my Japanese food fix.
My only pet peeve is the lettuce. Why iceberg lettuce??? When the menu says mixed green, please don’t use iceberg lettuce. When I ordered Poke, I was very disappointed by the lettuce....... So, I am taking one star off for that.
They have a Bellevue location now. I plan to check them out and compare.
