I miss Tropics. This was the only restaurant that made food spicy enough for my girlfriend and I. They went up to 10 stars if you asked, which didn't sacrifice any flavor for the spice. One of our fondest memories was eating here on Friday nights, where 10 stars was much hotter than usual and we felt some real spice that would really make us sweat. The staff were incredibly kind and remembered us very quickly. Our favorite options here were the curries. They were thicker than most curries at other Thai restaurants so it went very well over rice. This post is much too late, both to show our love and support for this wonderful, wonderful restaurant, and as a eulogy to it. This was truly a place dear to me, and I am very sad to see it gone. I hope the owners are doing well, and I hope that someday our paths cross again. Thank you, Tropics, for the many years of wonderful service and food. You are missed always and forever. I lose sleep at night knowing I may never taste such wonderful food again. If I could give a 10 star review I would just as you have given us 10 star spice. You deserve it.
Walking in you first see the nice aquarium with a surprising array of fish before smelling the tantalizing food. The wait staff is very friendly and willing to answer questions about their dish to make your eating experience the best possible.
The food comes promptly and to order, and with excessive amounts of delicious flavor. Spice can be tailored to fit all palates across a variety of authentic dishes. And for a reasonable price, as well.
A place not to be missed!
The cashier was so nice and friendly...but the food was incredible. Exactly what I wanted. Phad Kee Mao with wide egg noodles, peppers, carrots, onion and basil. Cooked to order, not pre-prepared and dried out (like a recent meal I've had in the same area). I've found my new go-to Thai restaurant! Couldn't be happier with my meal.
I frequent this place for lunch during the week; show up early because the place routinely fills up. They're moving lots of food so if you special order....no guarantees. I keep it simple and it's reliably good. Try the Ginger Special if you like some zip or settle for something safe like Cashew Nut. I like spicy food and a 3-star works for me.
Very good food for a great price. Can be a bit spicy compared to other Thai places. Order a level less of spice. They are also a bit slow so don't expect a 30 minute in restaurant lunch.
I just had lunch here, the garlic shrimp (2 stars). Very good. The restaurant was clean, the service prompt, and the food hot.
A very good Thai place.
The spicy noodles are one of my favorite Thai dishes in the city. Can't beat the flavors & ingredients here. A hidden gem.
All dishes have been excellent!!!
* at Tropics the Pad Kee Mao comes standard with red bell peppers (instead of green) and no tomatoes...just the way I like it.
Great food...As is typical in downtown Seattle, the outside should never be used to judge the inside or the quality of the food. Tropics is typical of this where the food outranks to decor and the outside.
One of my favorite places in Seattle! Great Thai food and really good service. The fried chicken wings are amazing!
best thai food i have had, their phad ke mao is amazing ( not slimy like other places ,is bit more dry and spiced up).. cashew vegetable is great too.
Food was good. But the level of spiciness ran a bit high. I got a three star, but it tasted like a four star....extra hot!
Love this place...we go there for lunch all the time. Becareful with the spicy level, I usually take 2 stars, which is perfect for me.
I love this place! The honey steak is absolutely amazing. I stop in for lunch whenever I go shopping at Uwajimaya.
Delicious food. It can get very busy during the lunch rush and can take a while to get the food
Great lunch specials. Large portions.
The crab delights are top notch!
