Update: just had a really tasty lunch plate - still a 5-star. Mac and Jack's and a variety of authentic appetizers and cocktails - perfect on a hot summer day. This could be the best incarnation of restaurant at this location, hope they get real busy!

Went here for lunch on a weekday. The decor is nice, the service was great, and the food was excellent! We shared the house specialty Molcajete: Traditional Mexican dish with nopal (cactus), chorizo (sausage), fresh cheese, avocado, green onion and special homemade tomato sauce, served in volcanic stone (molcajete) and rice, beans, corn or flour tortillas and meat of your choice. It was enough for two people. Will definitely be back to try more!

Wow—very impressed with this place. An amazing happy hour, incredibly tasty food, amazing (and kinda strong) beverages. We couldn’t recommend more! Even family-friendly and deliver with Bite.

Nice addition to the eastern part of Market St. Three tables on the sidewalk that are dog friendly and are sunny in the afternoon. Very reasonable happy hour with $3.50 drafts inclunding Mexican & Fremont ale. Enjoyed three carnitas street tacos. All happy hour foods are only 5 bucks. Its worth walking east of 20th St. Get some tasty happy hour food & 5 buck drinks.

This place is my new Latin fave place. Everything that I had on the menu so far was superb. My recommendations are the Molcajete dish, carne asada especial, and tortas. Big portions of food, friendly staff and spacious environment. Busiest times are weekends from 1:30pm-3pm. Highly recommended.

Love this restaurant! My boyfriend and I have visited many times, it's usually pretty empty at lunch but dinner it fills out more. The food is always delicious. So many options! It's a great restaurant offering freaking tasty Latin American cuisine at a really great price.

Tut the prices and flavors are both excellent. The restaurant has always been spotlessly-clean. The decor is utilitarian rather than "lush". Excellent for the price. This is one of my favorite lunch spots, but the few times we've had dinner there have also been excellent. Distinctively Central American (not Mexican). While the names of many things are familiar as Mexican dishes, the preparation is fresh and clean and the results are distinctly different from the typical Mexican fare.

We had the chicken tamales as an appetizer which turned out to be very tasty. They were not too spicy or salty. My wife then had the seafood soup which she enjoyed. I had the steak. While it was good I was a bit disappointed that it was all chopped up. I like to cut my own steak and chopping is just lazy cooking. The dessert was a nice ending. I had the rice pudding which actually came out warm as opposed to how it's usually chilled in other Hispanic restaurants. My wife had the flan which had the perfect density and flavor. Our waiter was pleasant as well.

The real deal. Great food. Definitely no thrills. If you ever traveled through Latin America and enjoyed the low key but "real" experience you'll appreciate this place. If you're looking for something fancy or sweat the small stuff when you eat, probably best you stay away and not skew the reviews :p

In some ways I don't want people discovering Ballard's best kept secret. But I want this family-owned business to be a rousing success. Authentic, Central American food that is prepared with love. I'm a vegetarian and my partner eats chicken and fish and we eat happily and well here. Prices are reasonable and drinks are delicious. I will return again and again to this warm, welcoming restaurant.

awesome food, full bar, decent prices. friends I have from Ecuador have said this place is super authentic when it comes to Latin food. this place was the only one they'd eat at when craving their own region's cuisine apparently. not just stuff from Ecuador, they have an extensive Latin menu.

From the time we walked in, till the time we left, the experience was fantastic. The food was coma worthy and the drinks were as strong as an ox. If you're there for happy hour, the deals and selection are excellent. 3-6pm and then 9pm to close if I remember right. I only wish they had tiger suace available. I will go back for sure!
