Our last night in Seward we ate here for dinner. They gave us cornbread before our meals which I thought was pretty okay, a little on the dry side for my liking. My boyfriend and I ordered the gulf captian’s platter and split it between the 2 of us. The halibut and tartar sauce were my favorite. Dessert we tried the chocolate cake which was perfect if youre a chocolate lover, but be aware, it is a LARGE slice so great for 3+ people to share.
We arrived at 5:30 PM and there was a line out the door. I took this as a good sign and bought a beer and waited. It was a pleasant wait on the porch in the beautiful sunshine. We were seated in about 45 minutes and promptly ordered. I had a sample platter with Salmon, halibut and prawns. It was delicious. The beer was a raspberry beer which was also good. Their dessert looked amazing but I was stuffed. The waitress was super friendly and efficient. Love this place and recommend highly!
Great food, decoration and service. The seafood platter was alright but the crab legs and steamed mussels were delicious.
Very good tasting food and service. Good small beer and wine selection as well. The seafood chowder is excellent. We also splurged on a king crab leg and it was great. We ordered the halibut sandwich and really enjoyed it as well, but it would have been even better on a less strong tasting bread. The bun overshadowed the taste of the fish a bit. And the rice was just a bit on the tough side tonight.
One of the best meals I've had start to finish at a restaurant in a long time. There will probably be a 45 min to hour wait but it is worth it. The clam chowder had plenty of fish in every bite. The large bowl is a value at $12. The salmon sandwich was really good and their homemade Berry Crisp dessert was the perfect way to end the meal. My server Savannah took excellent care of me. She has a great attitude. If I ever visit Seward again I will be back no doubt.
It is all it's cracked up to be. 🙂 The crab legs and the salmon bake were both very good, but it is the clams that were excellent (def order!). The grilled chicken burger was good, fry's were great, and the seafood chowder (primarily the salmon chowder) is worth ordering as well. Just about the only thing meh was the large salad (for the vegetarian in the family).
There was a 20 min wait, but they have a nice waiting room. Remember to weigh yourself in on the old timey weighing machine, makes for good conversation.
The service is patchy, we had to remind our server Savanah a few times about missing things etc. But this is probably due to short staffing during covid.
All in all, you must go here if you are in Seward.
From the delectable dill pickles all the way to the baked salmon to the blue berry cobbler this was the finest meal during our week of eating thorough Alaska. Our server Savanah, took personal care of us and we highly recommend Salmon Bake!
Food was delicious - I had the salmon bake and my husband had a burger. Staff was incredibly friendly and nice despite being short staffed. Beer was good. Would go back if I’m Seward again.
