Great little spot. The lunch specials are usually spot on. Favorite breakfast is the Mexican. Friendly staff and clean. We go there all the time.
A wonderful little hole in the wall. My husband and I love to go here for breakfast. They have all the normal favorites, but have several special items with a New Orleans spin. I love the Cajun eggs Benedict!
Service has always been fast and friendly. Wish the weekend breakfast menu was every day. Still enjoy the regular menu as well though. Pancakes are a must for a regular weekday. Love the filet on the weekend. Excellent flavor. Parking could be better though.
Love it since it opened.. Started off as a very small place. I go there to mostly eat breakfast. The menu is extensive and you can order Ala-carte which suits me fine. They cook things the way you ask.
GREAT LITTLE HOLE IN THE WALL PLACE. LOVE BREAKFAST every Sunday morning after church!
They have a great Philly steak omelet and awesome home fries. This is definitely not a health nut kind of breakfast.
This is our favorite BREAKFAST place on Sunday!
Great little dive. right in the heart of town. good choice of daily specials. I had the pork chops give me to be which were tender and juicy. I need to bring were wonderful and piled high.
Like him or not, Guy was right on!. We went here a while back after seeing it on DDD. The place is definitely on the dive side of things if you are interested in the decor. As usual though, I'm interested in the food. The Smoked Prime Rib sandwich is a masterpiece of flavor! Being messy to eat only adds to its charm. This is simply one of the most mouth-watering, best tasting sandwiches you can get anywhere! If you're ever traveling I-10 through Slidell, it's well worth the 5 minute trip off the highway to the little dive under the water tower, LA Pines!
Great local place!. We've been repeat customers for years. Food has always been good,so much better than the same old chain type places with a lot of different tastes on the menu. Ask for Cheryl, she is always cheery and makes it a point to remember your face each time she sees you. Home made food just the way you like it. Breakfasts can't be beat!
As seen on TV. It's not a diner, it's not a drive in.......That said, the food is very good, the prices are low and the staff is very friendly.
Local and Awesome. Every time we go to LA Pines with our 3 kids, we have a great experience. Once, we showed up about 5 minutes before closing, not a problem they said. I ordered a tray of BBQ beef for an office party. Everyone LOVED the BBQ we used for sandwiches. We ordered it the day before the party, not problem they said. Thanks LA Pines for being there with local great food, great service, and a great attitude. Not going to lie, I look forward to catfish Fridays!
If you're craving that greasy spoon, cheap, yet tasty breakfast, this is the place! The food is simple all American breakfast (or lunch) with a nice southern twist. However, the service is atrocious! The servers have been there too long and you can see how much they hate their jobs. The food is definitely the conversation for this little restaurant
La. Pines Cafe. Waffle? Pancakes? Or maybe I feel like having eggs and grits. It doesn't matter because it's always delicious. This place has charm and character fast food and chain restaurants doesn't have. Good food, friendly waitresses (Hello Max and Sheryl!!) and great prices. Even if there is a waiting list we have never waited more than 15 minutes and that's not a long time to wait for a freshly prepared meal. If you haven't tried La Pines Cafe.. stop by.
MY OH MY !. Have enjoyed breakfast there every Saturday morning now for years love the Fench Toast and grits. The Baked Chicken and Red Beans are the best in the area ! If you haven't been yet make a point to stop by.
Great Food and Service. Love the coffee! Love the Breakfast and Love the people!
Breakfast is a must at LA Pines...many choices and always cooked fresh to order....
Never had a problem with service...the watiresses are always happy to get whatever you need....
Maxine takes care of us, just like we are one of the family...stop by and find out why the locals love this place!
I was the opposite of most of these reviewers. I stayed away from LA Pines because of that annoying, backward-sunglass wearing d#$%&%$#$%. Honestly I don't know why he is even on TV. However, I am glad my son and I went. The place was PACKED and everyone looked like they were enjoying their food and the atmosphere. My son really enjoyed his French toast and the bite I stole from him I liked. I had the traditional Egg's Benedict. Hollandaise wasn't bad (I like mine with a little more kick) but the eggs were perfect. Both of us had grits and they were delicious. Our server, Cheryl, was very friendly and despite it being so busy she was attentive. We were greeted at the door warmly. From the experience my son and I had I can't explain some of the negative reviews. I will definitely come back. But I do have one major complaint: take down those huge pictures of that obnoxious spikey-haired $#$$%$#@ !!!!!
My husband and I made it a point to find this place after seeing it festured on a popular tv showwhere the spiked blonde haired host visits locally owned diners across the nation. You know who I mean! It was worth exiting off I10 for us. My hubby got the whole fully dressed roast beef po boy and I got 1/2 of a fully dressed prime rib po boy. My hubby said it was the best, messiest po boy he'd had in a decade. I tried a bite of his, but it didn't compare to mine! Mine had a perfect balanced flavor and was not so messy that it fell apart. I was a little put off when the waitress said that it had horseradish sauce on it, since that is mot a condiment that I am used to eating. Wow!! It din't overpower the steak at all, but was perfect. They added au jus to the bottom of the flaky bread too. The corn pudding served with it was also a nice surprise. $20 plus tip was a fantastic deal for two of the best sandwiches plus sides. We are very happy we stopped!!!
Best breakfast in Slidell. La Pines always cooks up a terrific breakfast. My husband had the Cajun Eggs Benedict this morning, and I had a more basic breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, grits and toast. Both meals were delicious and delivered to our table fast and hot. Always good coffee, good service, and great food.
Wonderful service and food. Will recommend to friends. Prices very reasonable. My new favorite cafe.
Great home style breakfast, friendly staff and food come out hot and quick.
Excellent service!! Wish I remembered her name. Food was good. The place is fairly small and seems to carry a crowd. My only complaint is that my chicken on my Poor Man Eggs Benedict was a little hard and overcooked. Didn’t care for the Cajun eggs Benedict. The omelet was very tasty.
Nice old time diner atmosphere. We had breakfast and tried a little of everything. The bacon was a little too crisp for my taste but the steak and eggs were done to perfection. The pancakes and French toast were very tasty, and the grits were smooth with no lumps. My favorite was the home fries cooked crisp, but not too crispy, with onions. Our waitress was friendly, kept her tables sanitized, and made sure everyone had what was needed. We really enjoyed our breakfast!
Was great, always fast service and great food! The best breakfast
Wanna know where the locals go for breakfast? This place is it! I remember my parents going to LA Pines when I was a kid. They have been in Slidell serving great food for so long the are practically an institution. Even Guy Fierri and Frank Davis enjoyed LA Pines! Favorite breakfast is the shrimp omelette with crawfish cream sauce and a side of cornbeef hash. Favorite lunch is red beans and rice (pretty basic sounding, I know, but they have the best!).
One of the best southern foods in town, hands down!! From the service to the texture of the food, the flavoring and just really delicious southern homemade food. A must go to!
