I sat st the bar overlooking the kitchen and drank a few beers. I watched The Chef/owner cook for over an hour and I was very impressed!! Such care in preparing each dish and great communication with his assistant in the kitchen and the front of the house staff. Every dish looked delicious. I’ll be back to sample the food. Looking forward to it.
This was the best meal. Our whole table felt the same way. Blackened grouper with pomegranate molasses, mmmmm, fabulous! I have to add our waiter was so knowledgeable & engaging.
Ok first you have to start off when the cheese curds when dining at 527. They are amazing!!!! Then my favorite thing to get for dinner is the coffee rubbed chuck tender, It's my favorite dish. I can never eat it all, but I don't mind taking it home, because it makes for awesome lunch at work the nxt day.
Then please finish with desert if you have room, they are all really good!!!
Hands down best food around. The atmosphere was amazing but the best part is the flavors. Chef is there everyday cooking and plating each dish before it arrives at your table. I try something new every time I dine there. Delicious and creative food every time.
We never go to the same restaurant twice while on vacation, because I like to try as many different places as possible. But, two bites into my meal here (and ok, a taste off of my husband's plate too-I couldn't resist! �) and I was already talking about coming back. Everything was amazing and there were so many more things on the menu that I can't wait to try. I may not be able to button my shorts tomorrow, but that southern grilled cheese with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes was totally worth it. Thanks for a great meal, see you again soon!
This place is amazing because the chef cooks with love! Is wife is so sweet and pours you some delicious beverages. The staff are friendly and together they make you want to come back over and over. Last night we drove there and brought 3 items off the menu home. That was after me attempting to eat a pound of the rosemary fries. I made it through about half lol.
The monster burger is the bomb!!!!

Went for dinner and as you walk in you're greeted by the bar regulars.
Service from the beginning was just a bit off. Nothing rude or bad but just bringing out 5 waters for 6 people, missing plates, not super attentive to our table.
Fried perch was the favorite dish, fried chicken was good, burger was alright.
Delicious food! The monster burger, Sinatra burger (no bun) and fries were so good! Everything was full of unique flavors and fresh ingredients. Would highly recommend!
Had the side salad with monster burger, which is surprisingly not served in a bun, but between white bread slices. Was cooked perfectly though. 😋
This place is great. We found them because other places on a Friday Night were not able/willing to do carry out. Food was ready at the promised time. Fried Chicken is exceptional. The Fries were awesome. Probably the best SEASONING on the fries I’ve had for a while. The Cranberry Walnut Chicken was not great. Dressing was way too heavy in the balsamic vinegar, almost no goat cheese, and lacking sweetness. Regardless, I’ll be back and cant wait to try their burgers.
I had the Cajun Catfish and I ate every bite of it. Spicy but not overpowering, cooked just right, delicious. Oh, and the fries, seasoned, but again not overly so. I ate all of those too, along with the hush puppies. Had a good Founders ale to go with it. Alice gave us good service, not hovering but didn't forget about us. A great experience overall.
We came here on a busy Friday night and they were able to seat us right away. The server (Ashley) was wonderful-she answered all of our questions, took our special requests, gave great recommendations, and was attentive throughout our meal. The food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the pretzel bites-they were incredible. The chicken sandwich was well cooked and flavored. We all loved our meals and would happily return again!
Overall awesome experience! The food and service were top notch! Eli was definitely one of the best servers I've ever had. He was super knowledgeable of the menu and beer selection, attentive and friendly. The rainbow trout spread appetizer was delicious, highly recommend! The husband and I got the chalkboard burger which was the "ya blue it" burger..... Holy moly was that burger scrumptious!!! I personally would put that bad boy on the regular menu! 100%, hands down, no questions asked will be back!
We had the fried chicken meal with the 3 sides (2 servings of mashed potatoes w/ gravy and Cole slaw). 5 stars all the way around. Practically licked our plates. Was delicious!!! Thank you for the superb meal and the great conversation from the bartender (sorry we didn’t get your name).
Both the Monster Burger and The Big Cheese were great. I plan on going back to try other unique dishes. I added the burger patties to the big cheese, it was like being in a decadent cheese heaven.

I had been thinking about a burger all day. But a sign going in said “best walleye in town. So I had that and my wife had the cod basket. Both were excellent. And we had onion rings. For a fried basket there was no grease in either of our baskets. The burgers coming out of the kitchen looked excellent .
Recommend: got to go some fried spicy pickles and fried green tomatoes. They tasted great and I would recommend them.
Food was good but not OMG good. We had an fried avocado appetizers that had a spicy dipping sauce. Sauce was really good. Little piece of avocado and lots of breading. Hubby had a giant grilled cheese with a hamburger patty in the middle and I had a German type sandwich. French fries were good. 2 burgers w/ fries and one drink (I had water) came to $48. With tip $60. Service was good. Internet was not working when it was time to leave so we had to pay cash or wait for internet. We always carry cash. Pub type atmosphere.
We went on a busy Friday night when most other places had a long wait. They could take us immediately so we went in with tempered expectations. This place was phenomenal and our server Ashley was the best. She accommodated all of our requests with no issue. My friend raved about her grilled chicken sandwich, our other friend loved her fried chicken. The pretzel bites were delicious. Would 100% return.

My family and I stopped in here on a whim when we were visiting South Haven for a bit. There were 5 of us and we were seated right away even though it was a Saturday. It probably helped that is was only about 4:30 pm. It started to get busier as we were finishing our dinner.
They have great kid friendly options. All three of mine got the mac and cheese with a side of fries. I tried a bite and it was delicious! My husband got the pork shoulder sandwich with fries and I got the chicken sandwich (grilled) with a side salad. The chicken was so juicy and tender. Not dry at all and had really great flavor. My husband's sandwich was really good too. We also tried the pretzel bites and beer cheese and they were worth every penny!! I think they are deep fried?? It added a whole other level of decadence to them.
Our server was also super friendly and accommodating. She was also very patient with our three kids which is always appreciated. She even got my very chatty 2 year old who is just finding her voice an extra water when she asked for it. It was very sweet!
Overall we walked in with zero expectations and I'm glad to say I am highly satisfied and would definitely go back if I'm in town!
We went Saturday 9-9 and there only 2 servers and 2 kitchen folk (that we could see). Most tables were full and the servers were busting their butts to take care of everyone. I enjoyed the sass and no nonsense of our server.
Our order of Harvest Burger(OMG, it was unique and absolutely delicious) Fried chicken-best in Michigan that I’ve ever had and The Chicken Sammy (also good) took a bit to come out, but it was certainly worth it. I think it was due to everyone in the joint ordering fried chicken!!
I would go back in a heartbeat to try the monthly burger special, get more fried chicken and this time have a few cocktails while we wait.
My only complaint was the occasional grunge/hard rock music that was cycling through the playlist. It didn’t really fit the over vibe.
Food is always really great here and the staff are really accommodating. It’s our favorite place to eat when in town and the fried chicken is amazing!

We went to New Haven for the first time in April, 2017 and intended to try a few restaurants over the weekend. We first went to Kitchen 527 and after one dinner there, we never went anywhere else THE WHOLE WEEKEND. We were floored that such incredible, beautiful, insanely delicious food would pop up in a small town in Michigan. After just a few bites of our first dinner which included trout and tenderloin (see photos), we immediately asked to meet the chef. Chef Alan came out and was incredibly humble and receptive to our admiration and compliments. We learned that he had experience at some very well known and highly rated restaurants. We went there three more times for lunch and dinner and we were simply amazed at how much we loved each and every dish (and drinks!) each and every time. We actually sat at the bar so we could watch Alan work his magic. He took the time to hang out with us, provide us samples of other dishes and get to know us. I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best restaurant experience I have ever had! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
