Never, never bad food or service! This place has the best menu in St. Augustine! Everything on the menu is a treat and we have never left hungry. Once a week we have to go to Ned's. Even our little grandsons are being raised on the food there. And Ned also can talk good music!
My mom. I had the burgers and the south side burger. Omg they are the best. I haven’t had a burger since I moved away from Nebraska back in July. I love the mom and pops feeling of a restaurant. Are server was kick ass. She had short hair I think maybe buzzed. My 1st time and it won’t be my last. Keep it up y’all. I love it. Omg and the fries major yummmmm-o
We happened on Ned’s as we were returning from a drive to Washington Oaks Gardens. Loved the menu selections. The food was really high quality and the best turkey panini I’ve had. There’s no where like this in Jax Beach...Ned please open a restaurant Here!
I went to Neds , February 13th for lunch, Ashly was our server. We had a party of 6 with a high chair. The hostess was extremely efficient sat us promptly. The service was superb. All by two in the lunch party are servers and are very graphed we receive good service. The food was plentiful and tasty. There was also a server in training that was very helpful.
So. damn. good. Everything from the fish to the fruit was fresh. A wide variety of choices on the menu to keep you coming back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 10/10 fantastic.

We were here from out of town and didn't realize that every place would be booked for Thanksgiving dinner. We called Ned's and they said, come on up! We sat at the bar and had the best, friendliest, service. I can't remember her name but she seemed to be the main one at the bar and she kept things running so smooth and with a smile the whole time!! It was a little strange for us to be away from our family on Thanksgiving but we felt so at home here. Thank you so much for the great food and nicest service. One of our favorite places of our trip
Food, portions, service & pricing are always the best. Thanks Ned for making Ned's Southside the sbsolute best...everytime!
Love Ned's! Love Ned and his whole staff! Delicious, hearty, and plentiful food at reasonable prices. Something on the menu for everyone! Cheerful atmosphere.
Cute little place. Great food with good prices. Everyone is super friendly. It is a warm family atmosphere. Will continue to eat there.
Good food fast service great wait staff, will definitely return!

Tried this place for the 1st time today. The meal was excellent and I can't wait to go back!
We love Ned's! Our favorite lunch spot for sure. We go have lunch every other Saturday usually, excellent comfort food folks.
Okay, hands down this is some of the best home cooking. Everything is made on site, fresh, hot and seasoned just right. The price was well within anyone's budget. Heard they are going to put in a second location by the new Publix North on Hwy 1
I went there...... with my family..
we are very Hungary ....
then we decided that we will go to
the restaurant and eat buger on kaiser
roll ..
we went there ...
then we ate buger on kaiser roll..
we enjoyed with our #roll#
I've been going to Neds for years...in fact,I know his wife and am friendly with him when he is there.A real nice guy,in my book anyway.
I like that I live just down the road from Neds SS...
Anyway, the food is excellent...the staff friendly and even though it's packed a lot,the service is pretty fast.
I get take out through the window quite a bit and usually call ahead. It's hot and so good!!
Their hamburger platter is awesome.Real hamburgers, made the old fashioned way...no preformed burgers. They're juicy and flavorful with all the fresh trimmings!! They will definitely put the fast food burgers to shame!!!!
There is only one word for Ned's and that is Excellent
The food is excellent, and lots of it. The prices are excellent as is the service.
Just ask any local and they will confirm this without a problem
Outstanding, all the positive reviews are true. Reasonable pricing for large fresh plates. I had the escargot app as discussed here. A smaller appetite could get away with just this for $9! Great crowd and busy takeout for a late Thursday so the locals know.
This place is amazing! Fresh, flavorful food at an inexpensive price! The wait staff is friendly and patient. The place was packed but the service was not hampered at all. New favorite place!
The service was wonderful and everyone was friendly. The food was amazing. Everyone at our table 2 adults and 2 children loved their food. If we ever come back to St. Augustine we would want to come back here.
Turkey Dinner. Awesome tonight, again
Wonderful Food. Hugely popular casual restaurant. Our food was marvelous. Something very special. Our compliments to the chef. I could eat there every day. We will definitely return. Truly friendly staff. Manager/owner came by to check on us as we enjoyed our meals.
Consistent. We keep coming back because we can always count on simply GOOD food.
Great food. Great service. Tony the server is the best.
Good Food And Service. From the Southside Burger to the eggplant panini to the accompanying french fries and mashed potatoes with gravy--everything was delicious. All of the comfort food was well seasoned, hot/fresh and plentiful. The pumpkin cheesecake was creamy and the perfect conclusion to our meal. The service was good, too. It was busy, given that it was a Friday night, and the parking was a little tight but overall a good experience.
Unexpected awesome surprise. I stopped here by default and was impressed with everything from the time I was quickly seated which was suprising considering they were packed. The coconut shrimp were phenomenal and the conch fritters even better. I was even suprised about good the mashed potatoes and gravy were. Stop by this place even if it's a bit out of the way! Definitely worth it!
Amazing flavors. Great presentation. Wonderful service. We will return!
Very good restaurant and the food is great.
The drive thru is not a good option. Should only be used for call ahead items however its not. If you get behind someone ordering at the drive thru you will be stuck because there is no space to go around them and the orders take too long to prepare for a drive thru.
Parking lot is small Otherwise great dine in option for lunch or dinner!
Excellent. The service was great, staff was friendly and the food was delicious. We had steak & cheese, mozzarella & prosciutto and the kids had the pizza and chicken tenders. It was all delicious. The portions were big and the French fries nice and crispy on the outside and soft of the insdie.
We love Ned's! We probably go once a month. I don't like seafood, but my boyfriend does & he usually orders one of their seafood specials. I usually order one of two things; the Ned's Southside burger or the sweet potato burrito. The service is always good. My only complaint is that their water tastes funny & the seating is rather cramped.
My friend and I went to Ned's on a rainy Thursday afternoon around 4pm. One-third of the dining room was full of guests. There are two dining rooms and a counter top where you can eat and interact with the staff who are very friendly. We were the only guests who were not regulars.
I ordered the Reuben for $7.95 and my friend ordered the Eggplant Panini for the same fare. I prefer my rubens to have pastrami and russian style dressing; however, this corned beef and 1000 Island version did not disappoint. The batter of the fries was nice, but I did not care at all for my pickle. I like pickle spears dont get me wrong, but the taste of that one was forgettable. The highlight for me was when I tasted the Eggplant Panini that my friend ordered. The eggplant is fried and accompanied by gouda cheese, served with a side of marinara. He could only finish half of his food as the portion size was satisfying to say the least.
I highly recommend visiting Ned's.
They definitely cater well to all palates even vegan and vegetarian guests would be pleasantly satisfied.
C.C.
We got the coconut shrimp and the stuffed grape leaves platter. For dessert we got the raspberry cake. The coconut shrimp was good; not greasy or heavy and the flavor was good. Everything was good except for the hummus on the grape leaves platter. It tasted like they forgot the tahini and the olive oil when they made it, perhaps even the lemon and salt. In any case, the hummus was the biggest disappointment. Service was good. Overall, would go back, but would avoid any of the dishes involving hummus.
Was there on weekend trip to st. Augustine. It was a great experience! Food excellent. Service great. Whole belly clams really yummy. Prime rib delicious.
Eating at Ned's is an event. The best event of your life!! Great Service from Kim. Fish was fresh as well as delish! Peanut butter pie is still the very best in all of St Augustine!! So many choices of mouthwatering food!! Prepaired by talented kitchen staff!! By far the absolute best restaurant in our town!!! Prices are perfect too! Long live Ned's Southside!!
Awesome Place to Eat. Great down home atmosphere and Great Food. Everything I have tried at Ned's has been good. My favorite Blackened Chicken Nachos and their Fish Tacos and My husband likes the Fried Shrimp and Prime Rib.
Southern fine dining! Even Yankees would live the greens, grits and fish! Peanut butter pie magnificent!
Really good. Service and food excellent! Late lunch on a Wednesday found the parking lot full but, still seating. Had two seafood dishes that were great. Try the Shrimp Jackson. No fancy atmosphere, sorta "diner like ". Just excellent food at a great price!
Great Food! Great Service!. The food was really good at a really reasonable price. I will definitely go there again. Staff and ownership was really nice and courteous.
Just great! Nothing else to say. I eat there at least twice/month, taking my 90 year old dad out to eat. He always wants to go to Ned's. Why? Because we have never had a meal we didn't like. Always tasty as heck! Service great. They are always sweet to my dad and he can be a handful!

Great Eats!. Loved the Blackened Chicken Nachos! Excellent staff to serve you!
So many great looking menu items. Remarkable variety of menu items to the point where you wonder if they can pull it all off. Only had one visit to Ned's but the two menu items my date and I had were executed very well.
She had the prime-rib sandwich, and I had the blackened shrimp nachos. Hers was a very nice piece of prime-rib on a french bun that held up well to it's ingredients and dipping.
The shrimp on my nachos was very fresh, no fishy smell what-so-ever. The chips were also very fresh with a nice mix of blackbeans, jalapenos, onion, and cheeses to enhance the blackened shrimp flavor.
Even better news, was the bill. A fabulous lunch for $22, not including tip, So many other menu items I will look forward to trying on my next visit to South St. Augustine.
Buddy
Great Food. My wife and I ate here last night and both our dinners were excellent. My wife had the Bang Bang Shrimp and I had the Salmon topped with Crab and white cream sauce. I think we may try it again tonight, due to being multiple things we would like to try. I would recommend to give this place a try.
Casual with Great Food. Best diner in St. Augustine. Casual, no frills but great food! Can't miss here.
Great food! A wide variety on the menu, but whatever you order will be delicious.
Small unassuming diner, but food was very good. Shrimp and grits were very good and my wife had fish, grits and collard greens and she said it was excellent. Would definitely go back
Palm Coast Scrumptiousness. So CRAZY good!! The quality of this food does not match the price. My meal was unbelievable. The waitress reccommended it, and I am so glad that I listened to her. I've never had such flavorful collard greens. They were sweet and slightly spicy, with so much integrated flavor. The grits were cooked perfectly; the cheese was not too overwhelming, and the texture of the grits not dampened by it. Those two stacked components would have stood alone, but they were topped with haddock and a creme sauce that made the plate even more ridiculously lip-smacking, The delectable lightly battered fish served as the vehicle for the succulent but not too creamy sauce. I would not fathom a guess at the ingredients or the magic behind it. Thank you Ned's Kitchen.
Try This Place!. My husband and I ate here on 3/15/12. It was busy, but we were seated right away. Our waiter Chris was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and specials. My husband got the pork chops special and I got the bang bang shrimp. The entrees came out quickly and both were very good and filling. At $26, it was a great bargain meal. We would definitely eat here again. If you can look past the cramped parking and kitschy decor, you'll be pleasantly surprised with Ned's.
Great food, great service, great prices! Overall great restaurant! Loved it, can't say anymore!
Great, no other words needed. Food is cheap for the high quality you receive. Food items you would see on both a diner or your high end eats. If the place hasn't been on triple D on the food network it needs to be.
Feels like home. We're new to St. Augustine, and found Ned's right away. It's become our go-to place when people visit, and we eat there at LEAST once a week. The food is consistently great, and the prices so low I always check to be sure they didn't leave something off the bill! Best of all, the staff is friendly and competent - no surprise, since employees tend to mirror the behavior modeled by the owner, and Ned is just the nicest guy you'll ever meet!
Passing through town - awesome service, large portions, fresh fresh fresh seafood, unique menu items and tasted great! Definitely worth the stop, thank you!
Cheesehead2. Neds
Sorry to see the "Spoon" ranks Neds #1 on the south side. This will only make it more crowded at meal time. Ned's, in our opinion, is the best spot on the south side and will hold its own with anything in St. Augustine. Good sea food here but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Eclectic choice of entrees ranging from Pork chops with glazed onions and provolone and Shrimp Franco (both recommended) to simple but tasty meatloaf, pot roast, or spaghetti and meat balls. Short menu, but they have a board with daily specials. I'm in the process of trying different things each visit but my wife, despite my prodding, keeps ordering the coconut fried shrimp. Check out the daily blue plate specials - lot of food for usually under $7. Other highlights are their Cuban sandwich and black bean soup. The Cuban is served hot rather than the more traditional cold version but the ingredients are the same. Still, it's very tasty and with fries, a meal. The place is still outside the tourist orbit although the snowbirds have found it. Excellent, friendly service. Haven't experienced much of a wait for food even when the place is full. Want to avoid the crowd?, get there by 5:30 It's a small place, not too well marked and easy to miss when driving south on Hwy 1. It's on the left side of the 4 lane divided highway. Bet you miss it on the first try.
An absolute must...amazing variety of goodness for cheap. You will most definitely not be disappointed. Had the shrimp and grits..awesome. Pb pie...awesome. Service was friendly. Dont know what else I could say about the place. Just go
Just yummy. Everything. Yummy.
Excellent On All Counts!. Ned's is awesome! I tried the Bang Bang Shrimp, which were amazing! Service was good. This is my new favorite restaurant in St. Augustine!
Everything was delicious. There was an incredible amount of variety on the menu, and everyone should be able to find something that they like. The Key Lime Pie rivals that of authentic local restaurants in the Keys. Don't miss Ned's!
Hopped off 95 looking for shrimp and stumbled upon Ned's. I ordered the blackened shrimp(shrimp served with cheese-y pasta) and the Bahamian chowder (like a spicy manhattan clam chowder), but had choices from Greek/Mexican/Cuban staples as well. Cute little place with kitschy plastic table cloths and nice servers.
Great Local Place. In a sea of over priced tourist traps. Ned's is just what this town needs. The menu is pretty diverse, ranging from local favorites to their own house dressing (can't figure out what's it that and it keeps me coming back) to really well done diner fare. The food is great. The prices are great, too. With a bunch of little kids at home, we can go here and sit down to dinner and afford it!
Great food. Since moving to St Aug in August, we are on a mission to try out the local restaurants. I printed off the top 100 from Urban Spoon and they seem to be in line with what the locals think too! We went to Neds tonight. My husband had the Blackened Fish Sandwich and I had oriental shrimp dish (cant remember the name!). They were both awesome. A family of 4(2 adults-2 kids) bill (with 3 soft drinks) was $31...a great deal.
Seafood chowder is awesome.. Their seafood chowder is like a manhattan clam chowder. Delicious and worth the visit. They should have a chowder and half sandwich lunch available.!! rice is right too.
Ned's the best!. Can not say more about the food...just look in the parking lot - if you can get a spot!
Kathy, the GM, is awesome - a real pro. You will be satisfied or she will take care of you. Staff is held to a strict code and are professional, nice and friendly.
CONGRAT'S NED!
Great Food, Friendly Service, Best Price!. We happened upon Ned's for dinner while on vacation last week and we were so glad we went! It looked like a locals hang out but the servers were prompt and happy to answer our questions. We tried the fish tacos and seafood etouffee. The etoufee was packed with crayfish, mussels, perfectly cooked shrimp and mahi and the tacos were fresh and generously portioned. I highly recommend a visit if you enjoy quality meals at very affordable prices.
Wow!!. Best cuban in town at a great price....I recommend this to everyone that is looking for great quality for less money.
Favorite Hangout for Locals. Ned's is right next door to my neighborhood, and more times than not these days we find ourselves turning in. My family has probably eaten at Ned's 20+ times since they opened earlier this year. We were big fans of Ned's other restaurant-Gypsy Cab Co. The food is very similar but more reasonably priced.
The atmosphere is simple but lively and the service is great. The prices are very reasonable-with a number of entrees starting at $6.95. There's enough variety on the menu to keep us coming back, sometimes several times a week. Everyone in my family of five thinks that the Southside Burger is hands-down the best burger in town. Their hand-battered fries are second to none. Other "greats" are the Blackened Chicken Nachos, Fried Fish Sandwich, Hummus and Veggies Pita, Greek Salad, Southside Salad, Greek Omelet, and Fried Shrimp. Also, there are daily specials that aren't usually on the menu.
The food is consistently good-you won't be disappointed.
Really , really likes it!. If you want outstanding food in a a pleasant atmosphere, reasonably priced ...Ned's is it!!!
Love the food, great new place. We have been to Ned's about 5 times so far and the food has been excellent. It gets noisy but that is because the place is always full. Cuban sandwich is wonderful. Fries are excellent. Fried shrimp is one of top 3 in town ......
Very good old fashioned Hamburger. We(2) were promptly greeted and seated even though the place was almost full. Our waitress, Ashley, was there immediately to take our drink order. Ashley was very personable and answered our questions. I had a cheeseburger and my guest had the patty melt. We had our food quickly, it was hot and very delicious. The tomatoes were fresh and flavorful. The patty melt was on a very nicely toasted rye bread, the cheese was creamy and the onions done to perfection. At the table next to ours, the fish & chips looked great and they were totally consumed. Salads looked very fresh and there were several types to choose from. Our beverage glasses were kept full and we were not rushed or forgotten. We are looking forward to going back again for lunch.

Welcome Ned's. The food is awesome. The Service rates as excellent. The staff is so friendly and timely. You always get great fresh flavors in a very welcoming atmosphere. Nostalgia came over me when I saw the "Malaga Street Depot" sign. The menu offers new items each week. Welcome to the neighborhood..everyone try it. You will not be disappointed.
Best Food In North Florida. Ned's food is the best food ANYWHERE - but surely it is the best food in St. Augustine. I have known Ned since being a teenager (now 50). Ned has worked hard to develop delicious food for every palate and diet. He is a kind and generous person and delivers the best food possible to his clients. If you have to wait - wait. You will not be disappointed. Ned - many people are glad you are a Restaurateur again in St. Augustine. Any dish is delicious!
There's no pretense here, just great food at good prices with a little bit of dirty South character.
