Picked up a pizza to-go this evening. It was amazing! We got the Chicago Style Cappy. I highly recommend this pizza spot. We will be back. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu.
We have been searching for a good pie when in St Pete. From dough made daily to all fresh ingredients, Cappy's excessed our expectations.
Cappy's is hands down the best pizza I've found in St. Pete. The price is a bit higher then most of the competition but worth every penny. Not a big fan of Chicago styled pizza so I can't comment on that but wow, is the NY style delicious! Highly recommend "the Cappy."
I went two fridays ago.. I beleive not quite sure there pizza was great I had a new york style cappy and it was amzing but my server( she didn't give us her name but she was the short African American girl who seemed inappropriately dressed for the family restaurant)not so much we went again today and the service was 100 x better (actully had a drink the whole time and didn't have to get my own) over all a great little place I recommend asking for simon

PLEASE open in Sarasota. We absolutely loved going to Cappy's when we lived in St. Pete. Now, we live in Sarasota, where there is plenty of pizza..........but, NOTHING compares to Cappy's. Please, please, please, open a 5th location in Sarasota.
I love it all. The caesar salad is the best. The deep dish and the New York style are both tops.
Lots of Chicagoans and New Yorkers to feed in Sarasota.
This place is consistently good; the food, the service. Went there last night with my wife and had a large Greek salad that had this wonderfully slightly sweet dressing. We then shared a large veggie Chicago style pizza of which we could only eat half. This is one of the few places around that makes a good Chicago style pizza. I could eat the crust alone. We also had two glasses of wine and a beer, all for around $42. Our server was a tall, dark-haired woman who was very quick, friendly and attentive. I love Cappy's.
The best deep dish & more. We have been eating in & carrying out since the Brandon (Winthrop) location opened. The deep dish is the best we've had outside of Chicago. The New York Style & calzones are fantastic as well. The staff is always friendly & my order is always ready when promised. Love this place!!
Love to eat at Cappy's. We go to the St. Petersburg Cappy's, it's a really cute craftsman style house with seating indoors and out. Cappy's is a unique dining experience. The menu is on old album covers and there are trivial pursuit cards on the table to play while you wait. The staff is friendly and they take pride in the place. We love the pizza and the greek salad is the best. All in all it's a great relaxing experience. Keep doin' what you do.
Great Greek salad, best deep dish pizza ever!!!
I found Cappys on a recent pizza crawl and have been back three times. I like the atmosphere, the service, the beer selection, the big salad, and the pizza. The crust is just right If you fold it - it cracks but does not break, they don't overload the cheese so you can actually taste the sauce, and the sauce is worth tasting.
Drove by for years!. What a groovy little Place. Called for a take out after reading the reviews on urbanspoon.com and loved it. Will be back to eat in as it looks really cool inside.
Great Pizza. Some of the best New York and Chicago style pizza in Tampa Bay.
Try it!. Their Chicago deep dish is amazing!
We went to Cappys this week for the first time. Loved it. Atmosphere is cozy and I like the old house feel. They had old trivial pursuit cards on the tables to entertain diners while you wait-that rocks. The menu was small and simple. They don't do a ton of options-but from what I can tell what they do they do well. We ordered the Hand tossed style crust and loved it-crispy and delicious. The wine menu was as simple as the server reporting: we have a Chianti for red and a Pinot Grigio for white. So easy I loved it. Ordered the Chianti and it was just fine. Served it in a smalle juice glass.vs some fancy wine glass and I even loved that. I eat out at many high-end restaurants but this was great. A homey/cozy feeling with tavern flavorful food and a menu that was super simple which I so appreciate after over-thinking 1 million things a day all day at work. The decision to return will also be simple!
Move over Chicago!!!. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! The atmosphere, the staff and the food are all fabulous!! You are definitely a great find!! YUM!!!!
Good pizza and atmosphere. Went to Cappy's last weekend on a date. The 'wait list' could use some improvement. That being said, we really enjoyed the beer selection (Newcastle and Sam Adams were the two we picked) and the pizza was great. Once we got seated, the food was brought very quickly. Had Greek salad as an app, and it was fresh/tasty.
There seemed to be a real slow table turnover at Cappy's, so we had to wait a little longer than I expected before we got seated. But there's a few reasons for that: One, they have true Chicago-style deep dish pizza, which takes at least 30min to prepare. And two, the atmosphere is very down-home and relaxing. If I lived closer to Cappy's, I would be a regular there, especially in Fall/Winter when it's much nicer to sit outside.
All-in-all, a very nice experience with good food and friendly service. Thumb's up!
Great pizza. Cappy's knows pizza. Would recommend & return.
So crazy delicious.. I read all the urbanspoon reviews about this restaurant and had to try it. Let me tell you, this pizza is so delicious. My husband and I ordered the veggie deep dish. My husband loved it, he's very hard to please. The first thing he said after picking up our pizza was we got to go eat there. I guess he liked the atmosphere. I am looking forward to eating there. Goodbye Gianni's, hello Cappy's!!!
Deep dish pizza. Better then Old Chicago or Giordanos and not so far a drive. The toppings tasted so nice and fresh too! It was done perfectly with the crust being soft yet crunchy to the bite and the toppings being perfecltly ccooked, yet not overdone. We were definitely happy with our visit here.
Incredible deep dish. Cappy's features the best deep dish pizza outside of Chicago. The crust is perfectly done and the sauce is fresh, tasty, and not acidic. The NY style is good as well, but you can get better elsewhere and I wouldn't choose it over the deep dish. The salad is excellent - always fresh, generous portions, and tasty homemade salad dressing. Though the dressing is sweet it is unlike other dressings, which makes the salad that much better. The menu is simple - Deep dish, NY style, salads, breadsticks, and calzones - that's it. The breadsticks are one of the best I've ever had and if you're looking to eat light I suggest a Greek salad with breadsticks. Beer drinkers will be happy with their selection of bottled beers, which always rotate, and feature everything from PBR to craft beer. The portions are generous and the prices are extremely reasonable. Cappy's is one of the best values in St. Pete. When dining in the atmosphere is comfortable - it is a small craftsman house converted to a restaurant of mostly wooden booths. Be careful who you sit next to, because the acoustics aren't good and screaming children echo. The only thing to be weary of is the service. Typically there is only one server and two guys in the kitchen. While the server is always friendly and never stops hustling, he is also responsible for every table in the place. So, if you're demanding or desire your server to check in several times during your meal this may not be the place for you. A cool feature to distract while waiting is the trivial pursuit cards on the table. Overall, if you're looking to try a new pizza place outside of your typical NY style joint, or you're craving Chicago style, I would recommend Cappy's.
Best Pizza in town by far. I have had both the Veggie and the Cappy. Holy cow. If you like big pizza with huge flavor and lots of toppings, this is your place. The Chicago style is the must-try pizza. It might be the best pizza I have ever had. With Cappy's nearby, I will never order another chain pizza again. It is that good. TRY IT!
Excellent Pizza. I've been here a few times and am always impressed with the pizza. The crust is SO tasty and addictive. The Chicago style is really filling so plan to have leftovers - which reheats beautifully. The NY style is thinner, although not the kind you'd get at a NY pizzeria. It's a little thicker and more pillowy. You can tell they use high quality mozzarella. My only qualm is I wish they used the thicker, more flavorful pepperoni that you get on the pizzas at Gigi's. It really makes a difference.
The place has character, friendly staff, amazing breadsticks, and fabulous Chicago-style deep dish pizza! We have been so tired of eating NY-style knock offs everywhere we go in the Tampa Bay area... We don't even really like NY style pizza! And although this place does have NY-style, we opted for the Chicago deep dish. We were THRILLED to have a change in style, and even MORE ecstatic that it tasted so great! Flaky, buttery crust, spicy pepperoni ad sausage, ooey-gooey cheese, and rich tomato sauce! And our meal was under $20 personally, as we ordered only a small deep dish (which was PLENTY for two people). We plan on returning to Cappy's in St. Pete. Great experience!!!
Great pizza. Cappy's is the best pizza in St. Pete and the staff is really friendly. Highly recommended.
Best Chicago Deep-Dish in TampaBay!. I frequently get a craving for a really good Chicago-style deep-dish pizza. Cappy's has the best in the area... each one I get is better than the last. The crust, cheese, sauce and generous toppings make this one perfect!
Pizza Sauce . . better than other locations. I have visited and eaten regularly (maybe to regularly) at all the locations. The S. Tampa location was down the street from my apartment when I lived in Tampa, and the Seminole Heights location is near my parent's house (they frequent that one and swear by that location). I recently visited the St. Pete location, because I now reside in Pinellas. The pizza sauce at this location tasted a bit bolder than the other location. We spoke with some of the employees that say it is the same, but there was defiantly something better in there sauce. The location is off the beaten path on a one way street, but is worth it to seek out and try. This location also takes credit unlike the other locations which is nice, because who carries cash anymore, and has lunch Monday through Friday. All locations ARE great, but this one seems to have the sauce just right!
I knew I liked the place when I saw that every table was outfitted with Trivial Pursuit cards. Have some fun while waiting for your pizza to be baked! Then I saw the menus... old record covers. Pretty cool, right? This place really has a vibe of being at a friends home.
