Absolutely the finest from Ray, our gracious and friendly server, to the succulent gazpacho, to the oysters to perfectly prepared scallops, this place is tops. We are world travelers and critical foodies, but this spot is tops. Highly recommended.
Romancing the relationship. This is what always comes to mind for me when I think of Water Street Cafe. Water Street is a gem of a place where fond memories are made. A special date night, reconnecting with an old friend...water street is where you want to go to make your time feel even more special. Stephanie (the owner) and her staff are wonderful and pay such attention to detail. Amazing food, amazing service, amazing atmosphere! Having been in the restaurant industry myself for ten years, I know that a lot of hard work goes into making sure customers are cared for. Water Street Cafe goes beyond the place you go to for a great meal...it's the place you go to for an exceptional experience!
If you see venison on the menu, get it! It melts in your mouth! It is always so hard to pass up the duck and scallops but branching out is the way to go as they do a wonderful job with locally sourced fish and I've been eating their crispy tofu salad with wasabi dressing for years. It is probably the only tofu dish I eat, ever. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is terrific. We love Water Street Cafe!

We had a great meal last night with friends. We arranged to meet back in the area as we all moved away years ago and Water Street was on the top of the list for a place to eat. Last time it was still in the previous building! The new location is great. Staff very attentive. Great Malbec on the wine list. Food outstanding. The only negative comment is related to the creme brûlée. The topping was great but the creme part is too 'eggy'. It should be more creamy and taste more like vanilla.
Cozy atmosphere that didn't feel cramped. Friendly service, diverse menu and wonderful food! Careful attention was paid to special requests in food prep - everything was wonderful! Can't wait to return enough times to try all the other menu items that caught my eye!

This is a great little place! They have an outstanding raw bar, great steamers and delicious main courses. The food is fresh and prepared simply to showcase natural flavors. Great service too!

The food was wonderful. The waiter , Ray, was very attentive and prompt and the hostess was very pleasant. Our first visit ... we will be back.

Mothers Day brunch, met my son and his fiancé from RI there. Great folks, friendly and very good service. Our meals were delish! Will definitely be back again as we live in south west corner of CT. Will defiantly be our meeting place in the future👍🏻

We had a 4 generation Sunday brunch there yesterday and it was great. The food was good and the service exceptional. From 2 weeks old to 84 years old, all gave it 2 thumbs up :-)

One of our favorite places to dine! It has amazing food, excellent waitstaff and friendly owners. We always have a wonderful time visiting this restaurant. The oysters are superb and the duck and scallops are one of their best dishes. We have been going for over 8 years and always look forward to returning.

Food and cocktails were fantastic, service was ... leisurely. Probably short staffed, just like everywhere else. Anyway, my three dinner companions loved the dozen oysters (3 varieties), and we all loved our entrees: Skillet Chicken; Halibut; Crispy Duck; and Duck Breast Salad. The fish and fowl were cooked to perfection; tender and flavorful. The cocktails were tasty and had quite a bit of alcohol. Overall, well worth the $200 bill (excluding tip).
Fantastic service from the moment you walk in the door to finish. Been here previously and it had been a 3 star rating and was never really blown out the water until now.. The new chefs were fantastic and explained in detail every entree and catered to my needs and likings perfectly. Would definitely come back here and/or recommend to all my friends. The quality is unmatched in the area. The new chefs really know what they’re doing.
We were here on a Friday night like the out of towners we are. But let me tell you that I'm so upset that I can't remember the bartenders name. She made me a margarita like I haven't had in years!!!! It was fresh light and perfectly strong. The hubby had an old fashioned and as soon as we saw her preparation method we knew she would deliver us one hell of a drink. And. She. Did. Not. Disappoint. Plus the oysters were heavenly... Definitely a 10/10
Had a good time (June 2022), not a big seafood person, but the chicken is really good. I assume their clams / oysters are great and I've been chided on how amazing Stonington scallops are... For one of three restaurants in the borough it's pretty good
Great Spot in Stonington! Great atmosphere, friendly Service! I had a local Brewery which was very good along with the Ruben. Would definitely order the same again. Cozy spot in historic Stonington.
Love the atmosphere and the food is excellent. A good mix of favorites that don't leave the menu (duck & scallops) and new dishes daily. It's an easy decision to go there.
