What a wonderful, wonderful place to eat. We had a party of 12 that was accommodated so well, with such ease and professional manners. The Breakwater will do all they can to make your visit exactly the way you want. Our waitress, Ally, was the best I've ever had. She was friendly, professional, funny and on top of every request. It is not easy to serve our crowd, we are a large family. The food was unbelievable too. I would not recommend anywhere else to eat if you are in the Mystic, CT area.
Beautiful sunset view on the water with so many sail boats to look at! Service was impeccable, our server was Kimmy. Very attentive!
Food was amazing! We shared clams casino for appetizer and I the hot Maine lobster roll, omg yum! Boyfriend had a special of the day of stuffed flounder. Also yum!!
Desserts: hot apple crisp with ice cream & I had flourless chocolate cake with raspberry coulis! We’ll be back soon! So much more to try.
Stayed at the inn this past weekend and loved that this restaurant was in walking distance! Service was great and the food was incredible!! The sun dried tomato chicken special was just amazing and hands down the best chowder I've had! The restaurant was comfortable and cozy and the drinks were great! Went back on our 2nd night just to sit at the bar and were pleased again!
Excellent all around. We had a large graduation party, and the staff was wonderful. Service drinks and food were excellent, and you cannot beat the view!
Great atmosphere! Delicious food and our server Justin was a delight! Can’t wait for out next sunset dinner

I love this place! I go every time I visit my mom. It is surrounded by water. It has an outside deck for dining too. The service has always been friendly and efficient and the food is excellent.
Great food and loved the location. We came for dinner and did the prix fixe menu and it was delicious! The butternut squash soup was amazing, and they had a good selection of desserts. Really pretty view and the servers were super friendly
We always enjoy going to Breakwater! This restaurant is always consistent with its food, cocktails and service. The wife and I have found that one of the biggest problems with waterfront dining in Connecticut and New England for that matter is lack of consistency in good/great food and service. We never worry about that when we come to Breakwater! The only other place in New England that I would mention is Coastguard House in RI. That to me and I hope to Breakwater is quite a compliment!
We will be back again and again this season and for years to come!
Great, friendly service. Yummy drinks. Delicious food. We ordered Hot Buttered Lobster Roll and Grilled Shrimp Tacos. Highly recommend Breakwater.
First I must comment on its location, driving through the beautiful historic town of Stonington you will find this beautiful restaurant on the water - kinda tricky to find if your from out of town as it is nestled between the pretty old buildings/homes but we did get to drive around some cool historical cannons.
Service was absolutely spectacular from our hostess who was super friendly to our waiter Keila who made us feel very welcome.
We had the fried calamari, mussels marinara and blue cheese fondu with toasted French bread to start - all very tasty
The main courses we had were the sword fish, grilled seafood medley and fish tacos - all fresh and delicious - just what everyone in my party craved and enjoyed
I would defiantly recommend if you are passing through and in the mood for fresh tasting seafood
Excellent food and we enjoyed the entire time we were there! The salads were fresh and crispy, we asked for extras (anchovies, dressing) because it was so good, and we were never rushed - in fact the meal was so well paced there was even time between courses. The clams and oysters were fresh and so tasty, and the burgers exceeded our expectations. They were huge with toppings we even added to (fried egg on a burger - delish!). What made the meal Exceptional was the delight of Taylor's taking Great care of us. She made sure we had everything we needed and all the dishes were wonderful. Highly highly recommend.
So Stonington is terrible at parking for handicap and the parking lot was full at 4:30. This restaurant is totally about the ambiance. Absolutely beautiful and reminded me of Red 36. You can sit outside, inside bar and inside tables. We decided to sit inside because most people are outside. You can see the beautiful view from the inside table side. Felt very homey like a living room with pillows. The restaurant says seafood restaurant but many options that aren't seafood. The service was great. The food portions are on the petite side and for me it was perfect because I for the first time ate all my meal. We both had the grilled bistro steak and it was delish. Decided to have the key lime pie which was also delish. It wasn't loud, very serene. Loved the view and the night was enjoyable
Excellent food and service with an outstanding water view. The server was so personable and she accomadated a few special requests required by my two small grandchildren. I loved the oysters on the half shell and lobster roll.
Great lobster roll and swordfish wrap. They make their own potato chips too. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
