Great nihari, great service but nahari portion was kind a small with just one chunk of beef, needs to increase the amount of beef into nahari. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all my associates.
I hope the restaurant continues and be consistent with the taste and the service.
Just had great dinner with friends. Food was simply delicious. We had Nihari, Kaboob, Chicken Chargha. Loved the spices and flavor of all the food. Highly recommend!
Myself n my husband were there yesterday for brunch at Ashar’s n the breakfast halwa Puri combo n The Nihari naan were delicious n worth every penny I’m one happy camper... yum
It's the best place to eat in the whole houston.
We are NOT going anywhere else now. Each n every dish has its own authentic taste. It gives a boost to your tastebuds in the first bite. Loved it.
We went there last night for a first time try..and Allhumdulillah we don’t have any regret...food,service ,atmosphere everything just on point...Dhaga kebab are the best..exactly taste like karachi walay kebab..
Absolutely loved this place. Great food, great service, Loved the environment better than most of the restaurants in sugar land. Will definitely go there again and this time I’m taking my friends with me.
Top notch Nihari probably the best I’ve had in Houston. Doesn’t matter if they are empty or slammed to capacity on weekends, expect to eat the best Nihari in Houston. Service has improved a lot and quality in consistent. Atleast once a week for me
We ate at this restaurant for the first time. Six of us had come from Dallas and four from Minneapolis, Minnesota, specially because we had heard a lot about the tasty Kunna and Nihari. They were delicious. In addition, the Dhaga Kababs, the Chicken Rice, the Afghan Pulao, the Gola Kabab, the Chat, the Seo Chat and the Pani Puri were absolutely out of this world. Even my nine year old grandson enjoyed the Kunna and Nihari.
I would definitely recommend this place.
Thank you Ashar's Kitchen for opening this lovely place. Keep the quality going.
Salam to all. I saw, I ordered, I ate!!!
And enjoyed every bite of delicious nahari! It is certainly one of the best cooked nahari in town. 8 out of 10. I found the potion rather generous... more than I’ve seen at any restaurants. The negative comments here could be their experiences, but mine was truly wonderful. Thanks Asher Tayyab saheb for your passion of cooking. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Best place to enjoy karachi style food. Best kabab and Adam's grill famous nihari. We had no complains about salt or spices.
Absolutely fabulous food, a must try restaurant. Had a great time !!!
I️ must add that it’s under a great Management

I tried the nehari at this place—slightly spicy, but the flavor was delightful.Naan are so fluffy and freshly baked. The tea was also enjoyable.
Houston food tour starts with a bang!
Silver spoon chicken roll - 👍
Beef dhaga kabab - 👎
Nihari - 👍
Naan - 👍
I finally made it to Ashar’s Kitchen in Houston after much anticipation. Traveling 1000 miles for a Houston food tour, this was my first stop (and also my 10th, see below), and I was not disappointed. The moment I walked in, Ghazala greeted us immediately, making sure to take our order efficiently. The other staff was plentiful and prompt as well. The no-nonsense menu offered a satisfying variety without overwhelming choices.
Our food arrived within 12-15 minutes, beautifully presented with the same attentive service. The Silver Spoon chicken kabab roll was a standout - it reminded me of the ones from Karachi, matching every detail down to the wax paper wrapping. The flavors were exquisite, from the first bite to the last. The beef dhaga kabab, though not exceptional, was decent, while the Nihari, a king of beef gravy dishes, impressed with its generous portion size.
The naans were a delightful accompaniment, incredibly fresh and soft. It was a fantastic start to our Houston food tour, offering authentic Karachi taste that's a must-visit. The decor was pleasing, the tables and utensils were clean, and the presence of chafing dishes at the table to keep food warm was a thoughtful touch. The abundance of attentive staff made the experience even better.
I'm looking forward to exploring their weekend brunch buffet if time allows. Whether you’re a local or a traveler, seeking exquisite Pakistani (Karachi) taste, this place deserves a spot on your culinary journey.
UPDATE:
Chicken biryani - 👎
Chicken boti - 👎
Silver spoon beef roll - 👎
We returned to Ashar’s kitchen once more making it (our first and also) our 10th stop on a continued Houston food tour in an effort to explore more of the menu. This time around, however, the items we selected didn’t work out so well.
The chicken biryani (on the bone) did not have the authentic biryani aroma and the taste was lacking compared to what we were anticipating. The portion size was good and the meat was fresh and not overly dry, but missing the true biryani taste did not win us over.
We also tried the tandoori chicken boti, which are boneless cubes of chicken breast bar-b-q’d in a clay oven. You get 6 decent size pieces to an order and they fittingly looked the part - orange, a little moist, and slightly charred - just as expected. But again, the taste was a letdown. It’s not that it tasted bad, but it didn’t create any wow!
We also ordered the silver spoon beef kabab roll. Given how delicious the chicken kabab roll was on our previous visit, we were confident this would be the star of the meal tonight. Unfortunately, we were wrong.
Perhaps the previous meal set the bar so high that we set ourselves up to be disappointed or perhaps the reality is that not all items on the menu can be excellent.
This doesn’t mean we will give up on Ashar’s. There’s so much more to try. On Tuesday’s they have BBQ night (buffet), on Wednesday’s they have Nihari night (buffet) and on Sunday’s they sever their famous brunch. All of which we want to try.
One of the best Nihari i ever try in Houston area. Kebab are on point, Naan are so fluffy and fresh. Highly recommanded👍🏼
Food was good.
But the area of restroom was very dirty. I couldn't even change my babies diaper. The tea area was not clean as well.
The tea 🍵 was best 👌 must try.
Update 12/17/2023: Tried their buffet for very first time. Everything was amazing but for that Tawa Qeema next to biryani. I don’t think it was fresh and gave me stomach bug and fever, I was farting like a skunk on way back to the point when we got home i was feeling sick and continuous farting led to my wife picked up a double unpacked febreze like a over and under double hammer shot gun and sprayed on me furiously. Though i felt honored knowing if I ever see a skunk in wilderness spray him first provided if i eat that tawa qeema. upon fierce force to go to bathroom which I glad i did pausing that apocalypse movie which had only 17 minutes left. Man, I exploded like a grenade without a 3 second wait the needle is out. Conclusion: upon inspection it had cardinality match with Tawa qeema for its dark chunky texture. Request to management, please don’t put the old food for the sake of adding extra item, buffet had enough items, anyways not dropping rating as everyone in family enjoyed nihari and halwa puri, the tipsy review update is under the influence of fever to spread awareness.
Updated 07/29/22: Had a chance to finally dine-in, tried their Nalli Nihari and reminded been missing rich and delicious nihari for years! unbeatable!
I heard a-lot about this Nihari, though I have never been to this place, this Nihari came to me through a distant relative visiting Dallas! And Oh Boy! What a Nihar! it really reminds me old fashion nihari taste used to be have tasted in years! Will be visiting soon!
Visiting from Toronto and had heard great things about their Nihari, tried it and found it awesome! was served by Asma and her service was excellent, keep up the good work guys👍
Must try dishes are Nihari and Beef Biryani…Dhaga kabab and buhari kabab are too good
Naan was so delicious… Must try…
Highly recommended
Now> Much improved now. Better service. Still need to improve their spice levels. I think spice level should be normal for all and add spice on demand.
(previous review >was okayish, but the service was pathetically slow. My table and table next to me waited half an hour for naans whereas food was already there and finally got cold till naans arrived.
I recently visited Ashar's Kitchen in Sugar Land, Texas, and I was very impressed with the food and service. I ordered the Nihari, which is a traditional Pakistani stew made with beef shanks, and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was fall-apart tender and the gravy was rich and flavorful. I also tried the chicken tikka masala, which was also excellent. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy and flavorful.
The service at Ashar's Kitchen was also very good. The staff was friendly and attentive, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu. Overall, I had a great experience at Ashar's Kitchen and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Pakistani food.
Here are some of the pros and cons of Ashar's Kitchen:
Pros:
Delicious food
Friendly and attentive service
Affordable prices
Large menu with a variety of Pakistani dishes
Cons:
Can be crowded, especially during peak hours
Limited parking
Overall, I would give Ashar's Kitchen a 4 out of 5 stars. It is a great place to go for delicious Pakistani food and friendly service.
Here are some tips for your visit to Ashar's Kitchen:
Go during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds.
Make a reservation, especially if you are a large group.
Try the Nihari, it is the signature dish!
Be sure to leave room for dessert, the gulab jamun is amazing.
Called and made reservation still no seats when we got there. It was packed but the manager was cool and arranged the table when insisted. LOVED THE FOOD!!! OMG had food coma after. Not spicy, just perfect. Keep it up guys!!!
Washroom is always my first thing to check out, can't say wasn't disappointed. Soap Dispenser didn't work. Dishes that they served in were left in the small hallway between men and women restrooms so please do something about it however that won't stop us from visiting again.
So far, #Ashar has the best #Nihari I have tasted in #Houston. We ordered “nalli-Nihari” and it was excellent. In addition, #Bihari Kababs and #ChickenBoti was good. Hot and crispy #naans were great. #salty and #sweetlassi was really good. All is #halal
#desifood #food #PakistaniFood
