My elderly mom’s favorite for classical South Indian vegetarian food! The proprietor always takes excellent care of her (and me!), and makes us feel like family!

The food was delicious and the service was excellent..and prices were very affordable..I highly recommend this place..
Recently I had an opportunity to go with 4 visiting orthodox Kerala Namboodhiri priests to Udipi Cafe, Sugar Land for a banana leaf lunch. I have no second opinion about the quality and taste of food, but serving in banana leaf in typical South Indian style in US?
Well, Satish and the staff gave us the ultimate surprise and satisfaction.
The priests left US; this lunch as one of their surprises during a brief stay here.
I too applaud this lunch experience.
Very very good food. Fresh every time you go.
Variety of salads and their meduvada and mirchi pakora the best. Yummy yummy have been their so many times
I have been several times. Best Indian food! Highly recommend!!!
Great buffet - good food, lots of variety, good service. Been there twice now and won't be my last.

Excellent quality, service, variety and authentic south Indian food.
It's my all time favorite, with mild spicy and delicious lunch and Menu items
Malawi kofta is great, the rasam is hot and fresh! Kids love the iddly and mango lasso.
Tasty food! Dosa was nice and crispy. Nothing was too spicy. The rasam was good. My parents god the South Indian express thali and it was an ample amount and lots of variety which was nice. I really liked the medu vada.
Their complimentary Rasam was good.
Tried their Butter Masala Dosa and Filter Coffee. Both are good.
Customer service from Mr. Louis seems woefully
Best place in Houston for South Indian food.
Staff is very co-operative and well prepared.
Best taste with reasonable price……..
Love this place, serves delicious south indian vegetarian food. I love their Ragi Dosa & Medhu vada, its one if my favorite and regular food to eat at this place. They serve warm Rasam as a complementary drink/soup.
Great service by Loui and his colleague every time I have been here. They are very quick on their feet and ensure that you are attended to with a smile.
When the owner is around they come over and check on each table to ensure guests are happy with their food and service.
This is definitely a place to come back. I highly recommend to anyone wanting vegetarian south Indian food.
Authentic South Indian food cafe. I enjoyed the food specially both the chutney(green coconut and orange color sambar), Sambar was decent. I would recommend South Indian express thali if anyone is visiting first time. Also must try filter coffee - it’s really strong. Paper dosa, rava dosa & spring dosa are good too. I didn’t like masala chai. Price range is pretty decent and inexpensive. Ambiance is good, lots of photos with Bollywood celebs. I felt like place is under staffed so bit delay in service but over all I enjoyed my lunch.
Loved the food and the service.
We tried Baingan Ka Bhartha, Special Rava Masala Dosa, Mysore Masala Dosa, and Medu Vada.
Everything was great. Just a heads-up, it was a bit spicy for me. However, this totally depends on the individual.
Nice place. Serve tradition South indian food.
Enjoyed everything we ordered .
We ordered
1. 2 idly 1 vada appetizer
2. Chole Baturae
3. Mysore Masala Dosa
4. Masala Lassi
5. Mango Lassi
Cute little Indian place. Stopped in for lunch. Tried the mini thalli on recommendation of the waiter. Spot on suggestion. A large sampling of many of their dishes. Perfect for lunch. Will be back
The food is good but they list a lot of things as vegan that aren’t. Pretty sure the uttapam has ghee in it and paneer is cheese, so they should correct that on their order page.
Excellent customer service and food. Place has grown in number of customers but size of the restaurant may need more space in future. Owners are great with customers specialty needs
Went there based on the recommendation of others and to be frank, it was a little hyped for what others said. Maybe it was an off day. Ordered the salty lassi to drink and the saltiness level approached sea water! Way too much salt, so much so we had to send it back and get a mango lassi instead. The Royal South Indian Thai was very nice albeit a little blander than the thalis I had in South India itself. The roti that came with it was shockingly hard. It was a roti that was prepared, put it the fridge/freezer and just reheated. We also had the bhature and it was not as soft and bland as a normal bhature should be.
Overall, I felt the cafe catered to regulars and didn't try hard enough to make it an eating experience. The food was one dimensional in herbs and spices, service was strictly cafe level (which was expected as it did call itself a cafe!) and the appetizers were way too expensive considering it a veg.
A cafe that is OK but punches above it's weight class, and it shows. Attention to detail with the food is the first I would tackle.
It was blissful authentic Karnataka vegetarian cuisine, the background of flute with Thaye yesoda.., Bisibelabath, Idly Sambar, Express lunch with Upma, dosa was excellent, ending with south Indian filter coffee, so much varieties, this was a find for us & learnt they have been for 25 years. Thanks a lot!
Very tasty food. Especially I was amazed with the taste and quality of dishes without onion and garlic, which was very delicious. Very delicious North Indian and South Indian options. Very friendly and attentive staff.
