This is a great place to go for lunch or pregame dinner and/or drinks for any event downtown Syracuse. We go before Syracuse Crunch Games. The food is amazing, we've had many items on the menu all were delicious and high quality. We also pick up a pound of bacon before we leave, nice thickness. Go with friends or the family everyone enjoys this place. The staff is wonderful and always accommodating. I highly recommend!!!!
We had our rehearsal dinner at Leihs and Steigerwald, everything was amazing and absolutely perfect. We chose to close the restaurant on a Friday night and have a private party which I thought was amazing. The food was amazing, they allowed use to stray from the menu and get creating, the service and atmosphere was great and the price couldn't be beat. Their pricing blew their competition out of the water. My family and friends all raved about it! I highly recommend them for any private parties or events. Can't wait to return.
Th atmosphere is perfect for devouring delicious cuts of fresh sausage and meats. Quality service makes this quaint butchery and grocer the place for a deli style sandwich and tall pint. Two words: fried Pirogies.
One of my favorite places, downtown, for some great food and drinks. The staff is always very courteous. Maureen always has a smile on her face and is there for awesome conversation. 100% recommend to everyone!!

Great shaved steak sandwich w/peppers and onions, Buffalo Chicken wrap was delicious and fried pirogies as a appetizer were out of this world. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommended.

I've lived in Syracuse all my life and I've never visited here even though I've known about the store since I was a youngster. I recently received a coupon in the mail and it arrived at the same time I was taking my staycation so it was perfect timing and I made my visit one morning to check it out. The store was neat and clean and the young lady who waited on me was patient and informative whenever I asked a question about the meats or cheeses. I didn't get her name but she had the prettiest eyes. If I asked her something she didn't know for sure, she never said "I don't know" but she'd ask someone in the back for the answer. A voice came bellowing from the back room with the reply I was looking for. I bought NY Strip steaks, cube steaks, super thick pork chops, cheese, baked beans and cabbage rolls. The whole experience reminded me when I was a kid and I'd go shopping with my Mom and the meat was always in a case and not pre-packaged like it is today. I'll definitely be back to stock up on more fresh meats and cheeses.
We tried the chicken wing sausage and Philly cheese steak sausage. They were phenomenal! Omg. This shop has friendly customer service and high-quality meat. We will definitely be back.
Tried Liehs & Steigerwald at Heritage Hill Brewery on a Tuesday night. Food was good and the views at the brewery are beautiful as always. Liehs & Steigerwald teamed up with fantastic beers will always make a great time.
Stopped in for an Easter ham and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. I wish I got the clerks name, she was wonderful and very knowledgeable. I left with a freshly cut ham, pound of bacon, a bratwurst link and some dog treats. While she was helping me, she gave me a sample of the round bologna which was so good! I will be back to try their other options, the selection they have is overwhelming!

The Steigerwald family is always there for ideas and suggestions on cuts of meat and cooking plans. We are always trying their prepped foods and they pair nicely with the fresh meats. If you like American cheese, they have Cooper Sharp American. Try it!

All spruced up after pandemic(visible,full stock display of high quality meats/ American /E.European foods)hard to beat . You won't believe how polished the selection is- this is old world charm for a break .
We are so lucky to have a throwback shop like this in Syracuse. I went in today to pick up my order of brats for Christmas eve snackathon and the aroma in there made me want to stay. Everything I've ever bought is great, but I really love the traditional brats like Bavarian and Black Forest. Very friendly staff too.
Best assortment of hand made bratwurst in town. Excellent selection of meat and a wonderfully helpful staff.

I had them provide catering for a large party and was very impressed with Ryan who was on top of everything from the first phone call. They were on time and set everything up for me. Very reasonably priced and everyone raved about the food. Will use them again!

My in-laws used to buy ALL of their meat here (both have since passed away). That was I believe in the early 1960's. My father-in-law would not eat meat bought in a regular grocery store. My husband and I were married in 1976 and have been buying our meat here also, especially their ring bologna and hot dogs! We have never eaten their hot dogs cooked. Love them raw, nothing better! I have noticed in the last years they've changed their recipe somewhat 😪. I still love them but so wish they would go back to their original recipe. Try them out. You won't be disappointed!
Was born and raised very close by in the 60’s ... Glad to see a great shop like this still around. Moved in the mid 80’s... area has changed but when I visit I find I still have to buy double the ring bologna because I’ll eat half before I leave the parking lot. ... knockworst... ( I think that’s how you spell it) the best... those dried sausages hanging behind the counter.. the best...

Great neighborhood meat market. Other items available, as well - homemade German potato salad, mac salad, sauer kraut to name a few. The brats are one of our favorites! Friendly efficient staff.
