They have the best Gumbo on this side of the country. Their beer is on point too. You can even play pool and listen to music too. I love the fact I could even have coffee or tea too. Great place to go solo or with family or friends.
This is at the top of my list in Tacoma. I love it. I could grow old in this place. Order some spar chips, and a beer off their awesome list, get the salmon pita, then kick back with a comfortable old vibe that is impossible to recreate. It ain't perfect, but who wants perfect? I want The Spar.
We had the best lunch with the best server and Michael got to take his signature picture pose on top of a bar table! Great memories and a great time .. ��
We really enjoyed our lunch there, the food was excellent, our service person was very nice and the view was great. I would recommend it and we will return again for lunch again in the future.
Fantastic food! Fantastic beers to choose from! Fantastic and friendly service! Fantastic patrons fill the place making the whole experience of being there so next level. I mean really good people. Fantastic atmosphere and history! Just a cool place! If you want a beer in Tacoma or a great place to eat... sit in a beautiful and historic building and look across the bay and just enjoy the hell outta yourself! You will!!

Came in around 11 beat the lunch crowd and in the crowd showed up food was good service was great
Spar is just a go-to place. Always great food and service and usually a beer I like. Love the music on the weekends. The staff is great! Good people there.
We have been going here for a few years now. Their food is great, always consistant. The best hummus ever too! Great wine and good beer! We love going here!
Like I stated before. They make the best Fish Sandwich on the planet.Thick Fish filets, with fresh lettuce, tomato and onion. The Spar mayo condiment is to die fore.. Soem love the spar chips. I like them but I do not order them often. Local ingredients. What elso to say. I do not know who makes their buns, but i can say it is not Franz which is a plus.

Been catching breakfast occasionally on the weekends here and there, loved everything so far, our waitress was wonderful, had a pleasant sense of humor, i had a scramble skillet breakfast that was the special, it tasted great,i love the biscuits and gravy as well
The atmosphere is cozy and friendly at this historical gem in Tacoma. The spar chips, chicken strips and pita(hummus plate) is delicious.

Great intimate setting with a crowd that appreciates music. We (Red House) played there last night and loved every minute. Great staff as well. Tacoma is what Seattle used to be...
