Always the best! Hands down the best Mexican food in Tallahassee. We love going to La Tiendita for the awesome home-cooked food and family service. My favorite dish is the green enchiladas with extra cheese :)

Good, authentic Mexican food, cooked fresh with just the right amount of spices. Carne Asada tacos and steak burrito are winners.

As far as I know, this is the only real Mexican restaurant in Tallahassee. Delicious food, friendly staff, happy atmosphere. This place rules. Do yourself a favor and eat at La Tiendita.

I grew up in Arizona, eating seriously good Mexican food. I took me forever to find decent Mexican food here. La Tiendita is amazing! I could live off their tacos. Their food tastes like the stuff I grew up eating.

These are tacos, get the Tacos Carnitas and Tacos Cabeza (best ever had). Tacos Birria are great too, and wash it down with Chelada (the home made version with XX, not Budweiser ;)

The food was great. Our waiter was an idiot he only came around twice 🙄 I hope I never have him as my waitr again. Other than that, I like the food here. I definitely will be coming back for more street tacos. The crispy tripe was my favorite off all

sucha cute and authentic place! one of the best mexican food i’ve ever tasted. their complementary salsa was absolutely wonderful, we couldn’t help but ask for seconds. we got the whole fried fish and oh my gosh!! we literally ended up digging all the meat out with our bare hands. it was just phenomenal. got the vegetable burrito to split and it was decent too, could’ve been better but no major complaints.

This is a wonderfully authentic restaurant with beautiful decor and yummy food. The price was reasonable. I enjoyed the warm, friendly atmosphere. The server was knowledgeable and helped me with things I didn't understand. I didn't feel out of place or embarrassed asking questions. I highly recommend this place for a nice, fresh lunch.

This was our first visit. My wife and I each got lunch. She had a Gordita that was a little flaky for me but she loved it. Her meal was a sandwich with some amazing cheese. It was on the bottom right in the sandwich section. It was the best thing we ordered. It was bursting with flavor from the first bite. I got the steak enchiladas with beans and rice. It was very good. The rice was fluffy and the enchiladas had a creama sauce on top that was amazing. BUT, there was a problem that kept it from being the best thing we ordered. The temperature of the entire plate was lukewarm at best. Flavors were amazing, but I like my food to taste like it just got ready. I’m definitely going again. I’m going order the sandwich. 🙂

The street tacos here are good and affordable. The maduros were done perfectly. I sampled the hibiscus tacos too, and they are good, but it definitely needs chicken, tofu, or another protein to round out the flavors.

Stupendously Good! I had never eaten at La Tiendita, much less heard of the restaurant. I went with some of my coworkers and was blown away. The food and service were excellent; but the salsa was it for me! In fact, my entire meal was just awesome.

It was an amazing experience! We went for tacos and left with way more than that. We stayed in the Mexican cuisine part (was not able to try the Brazilian). First the hospitality and ambience was great. But the food... it was amazing. You can tell that there is a lot of fresh food prepared in the kitchen. The empanadas were delicious. We had a tacos and sopes, really good... especially the carnitas one. To top it off, we had churros with cajeta and expresso coffee. Perfect. If you are in town for some fresh Mexican/taqueria food, give this place a shot. I will be visiting when I return to Tallahassee.

Amazing and authentic Mexican cuisine! Lots of good Mexican restaurants in Tally, but this is one of the best! Small place, but has indoor and outdoor seating, great staff, and an extremely varied menu! Highly recommended!

Casual place with great food. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had been there several times and I have not been disappointed. I usually have the tacos and most recently had their Tacos de Birria, which is available depending on the day, so check for daily specials. The parking lot up front is on the small side, so it's probably easier just to park in the lower lot next to the building.

Omg! If you are looking for authenticity...this place is a must! The spicy queso, fresh guacamole, birria tacos were the best I ever had. We took home the tres leches & coffee leches for dessert and they did not disappoint!

La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant, 1840 N Monroe St We are pretty new to Tallahassee, but as we love Mexican food, so we have already tried a few places. So far, the big winner is La Tiendita Mexican Restaurant. The biggest losers are El Jalisco and Cinco De Mayo Echalee Mexican Grill is another winner, but today, we looked at the google listing and decided to try La Tiendita on Monroe. The place is well appointed a bit of touristy stuff but not as bad as most, it had more the feel of an airy café in some of the border towns I have to (on both sides of the border). We decided to go for the Birria Tacos, which are about twice as expensive as the regular beef tacos, when ordered with cheese. We highly recommend adding the cheese. The staff was friendly and helpful, if VERY young. We are still getting used to this being a college town where most of the wait are college students. You are, as per tradition in any decent Mexican restaurant I have eaten at, served salsa and chips while you wait on you main course. The chips were warm and yummy the salsa was kind of oddly dark. I was a bit skeptical, and they only offered a single bowl. Most places bring a spicy and a mild, which suits my wife and I because I like spicy and she likes mild. We both took a bite, fearing for the worst. We were amazed to find the salsa to be fresh, very flavorful but not too hot on the spicy scale. My wife got a diet Coke, and I got my standard black coffee and ice water. Here’s a tip, most good Mexican restaurants serve a good coffee, and it goes so well with Mexican food! Surprisingly, the coffee was just OK. Of course, after my recent experience at Lucky Goat, I was pleased to find drinkable coffee! We actually asked for more salsa while we waited, as it was so tasty. We did not get more chips, as I have done that before and found I couldn’t finish my entrée because I was too full of chips. The Tacos were amazing, the shredded beef, onions and cilantro were filled on a bed of soft stretchy white cheese, it was perfect, or nearly so, because the real perfection came from adding the dipping sauce which is basically au jus with wonderful seasonings that will, if done right, make you almost cry from joy. This sauce was certainly done right! We ordered a side of yellow rice which was served in a cake and looked and tasted wonderful. I suggested to my wife we use the remainder of the salsa over the rice which again seemed perfect, until I added a bit of the dipping sauce, all the flavors compounded into a real delight. Google shows a single $ on the listing, which is technically correct, because they offer regular street tacos at $2.75. These low cost tacos are probably as yummy for what they are as the Birrias. We dropped $40.00 plus tip, which is on the high side for our lunch budget, but neither of us regretted a bite nor a dollar! Afterwards, our server told us the Birrias are their number one seller. I can see why!
