Always good here. Tried sushi for the first time at this place when my spouse, who is a local, recommended it after growing up going here with family after school games.
While eating here over the year, I found all the appetizers to be great, the miso soup is one of the best, and the sushi is consistently better than those at other sushi places in town. The complimentary edamame is a nice touch and an enjoyable comfort while seated, ordering, and meeting people. The restaurant is intimate, cozy, friendly, and well decorated.
Tomo was our special and favorite spot to go to dine in when we were dating and we loved it so much that we decided to have our post-wedding celebration here to share in our happiness over the meal here with our family and friends. It turned out wonderfully, was intimate and special.
I wish everyone who works here all the best and highly recommended them.
For people who eat chicken and are uncomfortable with fish or sushi in general, their chicken tempura sushi roll is yummy especially with the hint of onion - it's one of my comfort go-tos. The shrimp tempura roll and squid tempura appetizer are safe options too if you want to be a little more adventurous.
Try this place out when you can. They are worth it.
I'm from out of town, but when a local friend recommended a nearby place for sushi it was Tomo: what a great call.
From the moment we walked in, this place looked like a winner and had everything I look for -- clean, friendly, knowledgeable chefs.
My salmon don was made with pieces of pristine pieces of fatty sashimi salmon along with pickled squid and perfect sushi rice.
Everyone was happy with the food and service. My only regret is there is no Tomo where I live.
Just took my girls there for lunch again today. Best time in my opinion. Never trouble getting a table. Chefs are amazing. Sushi is so good and fresh. The Tomo box sampler is great to try a few different items including chicken and tempura. House salad and soup always included!

WOW! Tomo Japanese restaurant has a very laid back and peaceful atmosphere and beautiful decor. The Bugolgi, miso soup and salad were on point. The bugolgi had good flavor and was not chewy. The vegetables were also delicious and could be eaten by themselves. The White rice was fluffy and soft. We also ordered the children’s chicken teriyaki and it was a hit for both kids. They truly enjoyed the flavor and how soft the chicken was compared to other places we’ve been to. The red dragon roll was perfect and smooth. The gentleman that was serving us was very kind and had great customer service! 5 ⭐️’s for sure!
The couple that owns Barbers intl on nebraska ave told me about this little secret ..fresh quality sushi.hands down best i had this year .honestly no complains the price was right and the atmosphere is comfotable. Definitely going to order from them again

Delicious food and very clean. I ordered teriyaki chicken and white rice and I don’t know how they cooked it but it was the best I’ve ever had.

I really loved Tomo Sushi! I was in the area for about a month and ended up going probably five times: at least once a week. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, with quiet folk and classic rock music playing. The chefs always greet you and the waitresses are at your side fast. I loved their plum wine, and always got myself a glass while I was there. If you're sitting with a group, you are offered salted Edamame to begin while you're looking over the menu.
I honestly enjoyed every food item I got there: from fried gyoza as an appetizer to the full sushi dinner bento box. The full dinner comes with Miso soup and a Ginger Salad, which I thought the flavour of was mild and sweet, with not an overpowering amount of ginger. All the rolls, sushi, and sashimi that I ordered smelled fresh and never once tasted fishy or stale. All of this wonderful food was at an amazing price, especially for the Tampa area. My family of three dined for under 70$.
Best kept secret in Tampa for sushi! I have been coming here for 10+ years! Sushi is always fresh. Nothing tastes “fishy”. The rolls taste as good as they look!

The best Sushi place I've ever tried in the US.
I'm a Sushi guy, and used to go often to places like Saki, but those are not a real Sushi places, with real Japanese Chef!
Sad, because I only got the google notification for this place today, it's been there for 11 years lol ! C'mon google it's 4.6 Stars they deserve better for the quality they offer us!
The Staff is very friendly, the food is amazing, the taste is incredible, everything is fresh, like in Japan.
And the Chef is so nice!
Some people will leave bad reviews because they are gonna say " it's expensive "
Let me tell you, it is not! We got so much food for $80 unbelievable...
Of course it was our first time, I wasn't ready for the quantity as you can see in the pictures lol! (Missing the Ramen (Big Bowl) on the Pictures sorry)
So you can easily eat perfectly for 2 with $45 a fresh and real Sushi Meal from a real Sushi Master from Japan.
If you are not Happy with the price, it meanz you don't realize, how everything is fresh and and how it is incredibly good, nothing is too fishy, like most of the fake Sushis Restaurants...
C'mon look at the pieces of Tuna, they're huge!

Tomo sushi is by far the best sushi restaurant in Tampa. They have amazing customer service and even better food. Please ask the waiter to recommend you something off the menu. I wanted to try something new and I have a new favorite. If you like something smokey and hot, get the Yellowtail Jalepeño. Absolutely a 10/10.
The Sake sampler is also amazziiiiing!!!!

Came here for my daughter's birthday. Since it was a weeknight we were the only ones there till we were almost done. This place is unique in that you can order "non-standard" items like ramen and Korean food, but was a bit lacking choices of "specialty" rolls like other sushi places in the area. However, they have really good quality sushi and the biggest cut of sashimi portions in this area. We plan to come back and try the other items on the menu. Only reason for 4 stars is because we've tried better in big cities like San Francisco. But this is definitely worth coming back with friends.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing chef! The Chirashi I got was packed with so much I barely finished it. So full of flavor and so delicious. Now whenever I'm in the area, this will now be my to go spot. Also, ask for the roll with the jalapeño on top (I forgot the name of it but that was so good too)
Went to Tomo with a friend and my husband, the service was very friendly and the dining area was casual and relaxed. I tried the Johnny roll, the vegetable roll, the sweet potato roll, cucumber roll, and the spicy tuna tempura roll.
All of then were very tasty, except the spicy roll, which was not bad, but didn't really deliver on the spiciness, and was a little greasy. I know tempura is fried but I expected a nice crispy crunch that I am used to in tempura, and this did not deliver on that front.
I'd definitely go back, I would just probably not pick any of the tempura fried rolls.

My mother took me here on Sat (6/22/2019) at about 7:30 pm. When we walked in, I was suprised by how empty it was, especially on a Sat night. There were only two other people dining there.
The moment me & my mother walked in, we were warmly greeted. We sat at a table & a waiter came up quickly to get our drink order. To order your food, it was different than any place I've ever been because you have to check what you want to order on a piece of paper that's on the table (instead of just telling your waiter what you want). Me & my mother each had a house salad, which was really good. We also ordered a Volcano roll, a California roll & a Buccaneer roll. Everything was REALLY good. The Buccaneer roll was by far my favorite. I gave this place 4 stars because it was a bit pricey. I don't expect fast-food prices but it was a little more than I would of liked to pay. Other than that, everything was amazing. If you like sushi & have some extra money to spend, I would definitely recommend this place.
Amazing sushi! No Yum Yum sauce but still very good! Service was fast, food was perfect, and the price was reasonable! Highly recommend! Pictured is the Dynamite Sushi Roll.
