In the Keys for business and came in as suggested by a friend. Parked in the back with plenty of space and entered via the rear entrance. Looks like there is some remodeling going on but nothing that was distracting from enjoying a great lunch. Friendly staff greeted us and attended promptly.
Started with the smoked fish dip. Simply yet satisfying as we waiting for our meals. I had their signature sandwich and my coworker had the Mahi dish. We both had the Mahi blacked and it was a great choice. The sandwich definitely disappoint. It was full of flavor and felt like a party in my mouth. The garlic green beans were tasty and very much enjoyed.
Plenty of seating inside and a cute area outside for just a few groups.
Definitely enjoyed stopping in and would recommend based on my experience! Yum !!!!
We drove along Highway one to see the Florida Keys before they disappear one day. We stopped for lunch after looking up a few places online. And boy did the place deliver. Authentic atmosphere. Local people filling up the place. The conch fritters were good, but I’d have them in the Bahamas. Islamorada lemonade was fresh and beautiful. Then came the seafood pasta “Keylime seafood“. No, that was a piece of heaven. Fresh mixture of fish, shrimps, and mahi on a wonderful light linguine in beautiful summary tomato sauce. It was the perfect stop on a wonderful road trip with my daughter. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth a stop.
Going on a road trip down the Florida Keys and, luckily, chose to stop for lunch at Captain Craig’s. The tacky nautical decor and fishing videos playing on the mounted TVs were quite welcome given the surrounding marinas and ocean. To start, we ordered the conch fritters and an Islamorada lemonade. The fritters weren’t anything special and I wish we had ordered one of their more unique appetizers such as the shrimp kaboom. In contrast, the key lime seafood was the best seafood pasta I have ever had. The butter sauce was delightfully spicy and the calamari, mahi, and shrimp were all incredibly fresh. If you are going to this restaurant, please split the key lime seafood with a friend (it’s a big dish), you won’t regret it.
We had dinner with friends. Food was good and fresh !
What a great lunch and dinner spot in Tavernier Key, in the FLORIDA Keys! The Fish Dip is excellent, and the famous blackened fish sandwich is one of the best! Encrusted fish dinner is also great! Nice full bar open from 11 am on and they have outdoor dining aswell. Check out Capt Craig’s when your headed south towards Islamorada!
Stopped here for lunch with a small group and it was fantastic food. They are in midst of renovating the restaurant but it's 90% done and looks nice! Casual dining with a quaint feel, we had their Shrimp Po boy and their famous fish sandwich and it did not disappoint. We had the blackened version of the sandwich and everyone at the table was already planning on our next visit!
Nice stop between Miami and Key West. The fish was cooked perfectly and tasted great.
Enjoyed the famous fish sandwich with fries. Delicious! This was also the best key lime pie we had on our recent trip to the Keys. The merengue topping was the best I've had. I usually prefer whipped cream but this was outstanding. The server, Reina, was kind and helpful and kept our drinks filled. Our friends had the fresh whole fried snapper, which was also delicious.
Omg!!! This place is the best hidden gem in the keys! Saw the sign for the “world famous fish sandwich“ and turned around and came back and got one. My wife and I split it and we upgraded to the lightly blackened broiled grouper and it was out of this world. Had an order of conch fritters for an appetizer and they were delicious. If you like a smooth creamy conch fritter, then these are not for you. These have nice big chunks of tasty conch and are like the old time style of conch fritters in the keys. Love this place and cannot wait to come back. Thanks Jill for great service!
The prices are also very reasonable for the high quality food they serve.
PS Holy cow!!! The Keylime pie is in a league of its own! If you like Keylime pie, and we are Keylime pie snobs, you will love this!
Great service! So glad we stopped in for lunch. The Mahi (grilled) sandwich was very good with the green beans. My husband has potatoes and they we good also. Drinks were good and the conversation with staff!
Not a very big place but the food is great. The staff was very nice and attentive. We had fish dip appetizer and I had to fight my kids for it, so it was good. Also had their recommended shrimp appetizer. Huge shrimp with a spicy sauce that really wasn’t hot at all but the presentation was cool. My daughter had chicken tenders and they were great. I really only wanted drinks and apps so I was very happy.
Best meal we've had in the keys. From Largo down to West over the last 7 years - this is the best stop for a truly local fish sandwich and key lime pie.
Staying a week at the beach and we normally cook all of our meals, but towards the end of the trip we decided to eat out. The reviews were pretty good, but honestly so much better than we expected. Everyone’s meal was excellent.
The pics below are what we all ordered. Everyone was more than satisfied. We arrived pre-dinner time so the place was empty and service was fast. Reina was super helpful with menu suggestions. We really appreciated her service. If you’re popping through for a visit to the Key, def make this a stop! Enjoy!
We brought in our own catch (Tuna, freshly caught) and the chef there really knew her stuff. She cooked our tuna 2 different ways both were amazing. Our server was friendly and attentive. It was, however, lacking in atmosphere. No water just the highway. But a really nice place.

Great place we had like 20 people in a short notice. Kids and adults got fed nicely. Great service. Fried food though but kids like it. Pricing was reasonable but not cheap.
Great to find place of my age.
Plus they carry salt scrub from local Key West factories. I got two.
Family visit to the Key West and had to make a stop at the Craig's. The staff was great, very friendly and had dad in had to counter mine! I was surprised!
I got the sashimi with a side of butter potatoes and a Stone Crab Chowder bowl. For me that was great combo, and everything was tasty. The tuna was seared just right and the seasoning also. Stonecrab chowder was in its own had a great taste and just complimented the sashimi. The grilled cheese and Chicken finger platter for the wife and kids and they loved. The stop was worth the trip from Spokane WA!
Great pricing for what we got and enjoyed all of it.
All three times we have been there has been just right and worthy of a 5 star review for this hidden gem. The last time I sat down for lunch, decided to go with a burger which is unusual for me. I've been through that overstuffed, squeeze everything you can in between western branded burger buns phase. The price lifted the eyebrow, but I went for it. Captain Craig's burger caught me by surprise and is the best burger I've ever had... hands down....no fancy eggs, avocado, double/triple meat, exotic extra bacon, yada, yada. Along with their version of perfect fries...... this had me wanting to return the next day, but I didnt. Next week though!!!!!
My wife had the Reef and Turf and I had the Captain's Chicken. Both were excellent! My wife steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and her shrimp were true jumbo.
The food and atmosphere were phenomenal!! Best Mahi sandwiches ever!! The bar waitress was rude and haughty. Kept giving us annoying looks otherwise we wouldve eaten there. The atmosphere of employees is how we decide to eat in or togo at loacations. This is a definite togo location.
