Absolutely must have no lard beans are amazing. The chicken is absolutely 👌 🔥 CASH ONLY! But to eat there is no more than 12 a person and that includes a drink.
This place is LEGEND here in Tempe! For more than 20 years these guys have been serving up the best Mexican style grilled chicken 🐔 in the state! It's an old store front, no thrills, no bells and whistles, nothing fancy here. What they have got is excellent food for a fair price in a great location! They have expanded the menu to now include beef. They make fresh salsa and serve it all up on handmade tortillas. The food is fresh and flavorful no matter what you choose from their focused menu, you can't go wrong! El Pollo Supremo is true to its name! Truly Supreme chicken!
Chicken was delicious.

Beans were good.
The pickled onions were ok.
Salsa was tasty.
Only mild negative was the tortillas needed a few more seconds of being cooked.

A fantastic, authentic experience that beats everything else in the area by a mile. Be sure to bring cash, as cards aren't accepted. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the food is always hot. The pickled onions are worth mentioning as they add a fantastic flavor. An absolute gem of a restaurant that needs to be tried by everyone.
Really nice family, chicjen reminded me of my Guadalajara, MX. Chicken was very flavorful and the Carne asada soft and juicy. Portions were pretty good we got the "Combo" two pieces of chicken, sliced Carne asada a delicious spicy sauce and pinto beans.
Very polite staff and good food, small place but cozy and welcoming. Definitely visting this spot again!!
The chicken and beef are amazing. I love that they have a small menu. They know what they do the best, and damn do they do it well. I'm from the border and I can say this place is beyond excellent. Bring cash!
Perfect chicken every time the consistency is amazing in the food quality is always top notch, just remember they are cash-only, but by far one of the best chicken meals hands down you will ever have everything that comes with it makes the perfect burrito or taco. In my humble opinion I take a little bit of cheese and put it on the tortilla, next to that you need to do nothing to alter this meal.
A friend recommended this place. Since we were out of towners we decided to try. It’s definitely a hole in the wall kinda place but those can be the best restaurants. The menu was on the wall and was kind of hard to understand. After the owner explained the choices and how to order, we were soon eating our meals. Basically it was the fixings for putting in corn tortillas. It’s called “carne asada tacos “. Meat choices are chicken or beef. We all chose beef. It was very good and priced right. Bring cash cause they don’t take credit cards.
One of my FAVORITE Mexican restaurants. The food ..... ABSOLUTELY delicious, everytime. She has been around for about 18 years that I know of.. I'm sure even longer. I wish I knew her seasonings used!

I am always looking for another tasty option hidden away and unknown from most folks. I found one of those today, thanks to the recommendation of a friend. El Pollo Supremo is a small, hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop, Mexican grilled chicken stop right in down town Tempe. The little strip mall location right off of University means that ASU college students have been enjoying this little gem for more than a decade. And this is to their delight.
The portions at El Pollo Supremo are large. For just 8-10 depending on the selection, you get a full plate of food with 4 pieces of chicken or 1/2 lb of carne asada beef strips. In addition, this comes with a side of beans, 4 tortillas, large side of salsa and slices onions on the side. Everything was very good. I have tried all several available el pollo asada shops in the east valley, and this is by far the best. The chicken is fresh, hot and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I love the reddened tasty chicken skin when it is cooked just nicely between crispy and tender, while still leaving the meat inside juicy and delicious. No grisly dried out pieces of leather here!
The staff is simply a wonderful older couple who are working their hearts out preparing nicely meals for people. I love it. The prices are very reasonable. Just about 8-10 for the larger meals. For average sized meals it is even less.
The one thing to know before going is that this is a cash only eatery. Be sure to stop at your local ATM before heading out to grab a bite to eat. But it is definitely worth it.
I came yesterday Dec 20, 2019. When they were about to close, I order combo breast chicken plate to go, well I gotta say, "it was so tasty!" I took some photos check it out. They had great customer service and the lady had a smiley face.
Very homely feel. I certainly appreciate the authenticity of this restaurant. You walk in and it feels just like a real Mexican house. I can't wait to try their signature marinated chicken (pollo) and beef (carne). It is cash only but there is a circle K in literal walking distance. The lady at the front is so nice, she even let me get a closer look at the grill!
