Been eating here my entire life.... I've been eating here my entire life, literally. I know for a fact my mom ate here when she was pregnant with me over 30 years ago now.
Their lunch special is fantastic, and their family size pies are great. Their pizza is just pizza, simple, understated, and damn good. The staff has always been helpful, if not a touch curt -- kind of like New York.
I love this place.
The pizza was huge! The box didn't even fit in the recycle bin! Good flavor, not generic. Only thing I can't get past, the use of canned mushrooms. Will return but won't order anything w mushrooms lol :)
Biggest slices I've ever seen. Holy geez, this place has the largest pizza slices I've ever seen. Generally I don't like pizza (really) but a friend took me here and I liked it a lot. The interior has personality, picnic tables, arcade games, checkered tablecloths, and surprisingly I found the pizza delicious. Not too doughy, gooey cheese, and rich sauce.
Amazing pizza. The sauce is full of flavor but does not over power the rest of the pizza. The cheese is perfect in flavor and consistancy. The crust is light and cooked just right. The atmosphere is really casual. If you are looking for a super friendly kiss the customers behind kind of place, this is not it. The let you eat, watch the game, and relax. We will definatly come here again. I wish there was one out where we live.
Authentic NY pizza, best I've in Tucson. Big slice, small price is a great deal,. but i's all about the pizza.
Yummy!. Thin crust, hand tossed dough (you can watch). Video games to bring that 70s/80s pizza parlor feeling back. Lunch special is a value. I am partial to a family sized pizza with Italian Sausage(much better then the crap you get at the chain pizza places). They do not deliver, and that's fine with me! Call ahead to order, then go in and grab your pizza, make sure you have room in the car for the family size if you get one! YUM!!
The Best!. This is the best pizza I have hd in Tucson. The only one better I have EVER had is Ciceros in Cupertino, CA. I like all the toppings & cooked well done.
I know I am a creature of habit. I've been coming here off and on since going to Sahuaro High School, like many other long-time patrons. I will say I prefer the old interior before the new owners. I miss the old bench seats, long time paper menu and other old school touches. I did have trouble placing an order on Saturday during peek times was not able to get through on phone to place an order. Tried calling about 6 or 7 times, but no luck, but I'm understanding. But I waited to give a fair shot. I got a large pepperoni and to me the dough smelled and tasted similar to the original recipe but not quite quite the same but was still good. I got great service by guy I spoke with on phone and when I arrived. The pizza is fairly priced for the rise in pizza price around Tucson.
Stopped by for a slice and a soda. Great as always and the place has been cleaned up and looks great. Casual atmosphere that's practically an indoor picnic. Feels like something you'd setup when all your family visits. Love it!
The pizza was fantastic, better than before the new management. Ordering over the phone was easy, the pizza was ready in 15 minutes, and the sauce, cheese, and crust were all very well done. They also did a great job cleaning up the place, it really needed it. Highly recommend!
Update:
I've lived overseas for the last year. In coming back to Tucson for a visit, I knew I needed to get some New York Pizza. The pizza is always perfect and the staff are kind, helpful, and good humored. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming every time. When I recommend a pizza place to people from out of town, this is always it.

Always wonderful pizza. Staff is amazing and helpful!
Fantastic Pizza for a reasonable price. We ordered the New York special that has everything on it. It was cooked perfectly, crust fresh tasting and crisp bottom, lots of ingredients and gooey cheese. You can also order by the slice here and they are huge. They have a lunch special until 4pm one or two slices with a drink. You feel like you're going back in time to authentic New York Pizzeria. Nothing fancy, tables with bench seats, pick order up at counter, can be a little noisy at times as they have quite a few games for kids. They have pretty much stayed the same since 1974.. something to be said for nostalgia. Hence, since it's an old building the Air conditioning is pretty non-existence, but lots of fans. Otherwise Carry out and enjoy it at home.
My 1st time eating NY, she forgot my soda, slice was soggy and cold. But ya know what ? I called the guy sent me out another slice and the girl bought me my soda . 🙃 all is well. I loved this 2nd slice it's perfect for me and the salad was really good the chicken yummy 😋
I’ve been coming here since high school. 1999
And I haven’t been back in Tucson for 12 years. I decided to try this place again because I remember the price for a slice and drink was cheap and it’s still the same amazing taste and good price. What’s better is the customer service. Riley was very kind and noticed me waiting and acknowledged me waiting. I asked for a refill and dropped my glass on the floor. I was embarrassed and she laughed it off with me. She was very kind and I appreciate the smile. Thank you
Its a great option in the far east side, tasty pizza and at a great price, the place is extremely casual.
I've been a regular at New York Pizza for over 30 years. East Side Local & Sahuaro High Grad. I've never ordered a pie though. Always there for slices. Lunch special. Honestly, it was a shock seeing the 'new' place. Times they will always be changing. They made all the right changes. The place looks really good. Very clean with much needed updating. New flooring, clean bathroom, new large TV's, air conditioning!!, fresh paint. The ceilings no longer look nasty. I do kind of miss the picnic tables though. Overall, great job as far as I'm concerned. Oh and the pizza...... there's that. The pizza is as good, if not better, than I've ever had. I guess they've made a few changes in recipe. That's to be expected. But they're moving more towards fresh ingredients so that's a good thing. We came in for late lunch, about 3pm. The guy at the counter was really cool and offered us slices that were done and ready now, or fresh slices that were ready in 20 mins. We weren't in a rush, so we opted to wait for fresh pizza. He was even nice enough to bring our slices to our table, instead of us coming up to the counter. And they were ready fast! Our slices were delicious, and I thought the crust seemed a little more full, which l liked. They're putting all the extras, parmeson, garlic, peppers, on the tables now, which is a good idea. So you no longer have to dress your slice at the counter or take jars to your table. Yuck. There's no more draft beer. Which is still ok for me because they have a larger selection of bottles. All in all, I'm really happy with the new look. Keep up the good work! Be back soon.
The manager Javon gave us great customer service and made us feel very welcomed and the food was fast, fresh, and delicious food. I 100% recommend coming here. I will most definitely come back.
Great pizza - order the family size for a true New York Style slice. The decor is stuck inn the 80s (or maybe late 70s), which is fun for 80s babies like me :)
Chewy crust, well balanced ingredients. Sausage was weird. Dry and tiny particles. I like sausage chunks!
Been going here for years. Pizza is solid and the lunch specials on slices are great. The only think that was lacking was how run down it was. Now that its under new ownership, place has been fixed up, super clean and best part os the quality of food is still the same! Highly recommended.
Been getting their King Kong pizza since the 80s. Got it for lunch and it did not disappoint! This pizza is the king of pizza and we come here every time we are in town. The place is a hole in the wall/dive that probably hasn't been updated since the 80s, but we love it!!
I started going here in high school in the 80's. I had moved away for many years & came back. To me it was as good as I remembered. Still probably my favorite place to get pizza. I've only had that & calzones, but both are delightful. I will continue to patronize this establishment so long as they are open. It's super casual & the service was friendly.
