Went to Russo's coal fired kitchen last night, since Shannon and I never got around to an anniversary dinner. On a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 5 and then some. The moment we walked into the place, the owner showed us to a table after apologizing that it had just been cleaned off.
You know the difference between a table that had 'just' been cleaned off and a table that had been cleaned off? ' Zackly.
But he apologized anyway, seated us, told us that our server would be Andrea and if we had any questions, she would be more than happy to answer them.
Now, I may have forgotten her name, cuz I'm like that, but it started with an 'A', so I'll stick with Andrea.
Less than a minute later, a well dress young man with just the right amount of scruff showed up to see what we would like to drink. I mentioned that he didn't look much like an Andrea.
"That's because I'm Bob", said he. "Andrea is my wife." and he pointed to a young woman behind the bar wrapping flatware.
Bob was right there when we needed him, was charming, polite, talkative just enough and was gone when we didn't want him around. Excellent.
The food... my standard test to Italian cooking is chicken Parmesan; Shannon got a Tortellacci, which is a beef and veal stuffed pasta ... was outstanding. One bite of my parm (which Bob made sure had 'meat' sauce and not just marinara), and I was taken back to a tiny restaurant in Indiana that I had not been to in 50 years.
During the meal, Bob showed up with a glass of wine. "I poured too much, so this would be on the house".
What the what? Okay.. I did mention to him that it was our anniversary dinner. But what? It was a nice, not too dry red, and a darn nice gesture. This guy was gonna get a tip.
Shannon orders a NY cheesecake. Holy cow! You can smell the lemon, the amaretto, the richness of it. That was some darn good cheesecake. Did I mention everything is made there, from scratch?
The owner, half way through the cheesecake, comes over and says, in his NY Italian downtown dialect, "So.... a little birdee tells me that this is your anniversary." He looks around, making sure the place is busy enough. "The cheesecake is on the house." and with that he shuffles away to make someone else's night, like some mafioso house elf on an errand of mercy.
We could have stayed longer. We could have stayed till they closed. We didn't. They had people waiting, and it was time to leave, as all things have their time.
It was my wish that those folks who got our table next were served by Bob and his wife Andrea and felt the same magic in the air that we did. Yep. It was a good place to eat. We will be going back.
This place was such a wonderful Italian surprise. The artichoke, kale and spinach dip was awesome. I would love to bathe in it. The bread they serve is outstanding. Everything was so good, even their ice tea. Can't wait to go back and try something else, along with the dip . A must try.
Definitely one of the best places for Italian in Tulsa. I've never had a bad experience at Russo's! The food is always terrific and super fresh. Both the atmosphere and service display their true attention to detail; it's upscale dining with the feel of a neighborhood eatery. I highly recommend the bruschetta and anything with seafood.
Honestly the best Italian food I have had. The bruschetta was not what we expected and it was amazing. Manager was wonderful and the reataurant has a very casual but elegant feel. Everything we had there was simply amazing. Highly recommend it.
Great service, the best Italian food I’ve ever had! Nice environment, everything about this restaurant was great!
I just got my first delivery. It's awesome!. The chicken Parmesan is to die for! Will be back.
First time here and it was amazing!! Lots of food for a very good price! Highly impressed. Clam Chowder is different but still excellent.

Great device, Tony co owner/mgr, awesome. NEW favorite Italian restaurant. I won't be going anywhere else
We had lunch at Russo's Sunday afternoon. Mike had pasta, and I had a Stromboli calzone. Delicioso! We can't wait to go back and work our way through the menu. The service was also top shelf. Mille grazie, Anthony!
Good food great atmosphere. The people are friendly and attentive. Love ❤️ going here the meatball parm sandwich is my husbands favorite and I love the Greek calozone .
We have been going to Russo's since it opened. We have ALWAYS had excellent food and great service! The lasagna is our favorite! One of the best Italian restaurants in Tulsa!

Amazing food with a great wait staff. The bread pieces they give you is some of the best bread I've ever had at an Italian restaurant.
It's definitely worth your time to check out Russo's.
Amazing!! No other way to put it. Our server Evelyn was top notch!! Made excellent recommendations for Baked Ziti. The portion was more than enough. The bread is delicious with oil. The dessert was a perfect end. What a perfect dinner! I can’t wait to come back!
Similar to other reviews, we were also nervous to try something new on Mothers Day. We were not disappointed! We got a variety of foods, A calzone, four different kind of pastas.... We were highly satisfied with the food. The ambiance of the location was cute, the pizza oven a nice piece of eye candy. The service was a little slow, but given it was mothers day we are not holding that against them. The only thing that I will say negatively, is that the Alfredo sauce could've been more liberally served. The Alfredo on my pasta was a little light, but every other dish was amazing.
Also, a tip...you SHOULD get the Calzone. It has a bunch of different options for "toppings". We did Chicken, Roma Tomato and roasted garlic. The server said it was the best looking calzone she had ever seen ordered and it was AMAZING. We will be back for that, for sure!
I was incredibly nervous reading the mixed reviews, especially trying something new on Mother's Day, but RUSSO'S DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! The food was delicious and seasoned perfectly. It may look like there isn't a lot of sauce on the food but stir it up and it is perfectly sauced! I would recommend this restaurant to my friends for sure!
Excellent Italian restaurant for your whole family. Dallas was our server, & you couldn’t ask for better service. He was knowable about the menu and the choices that were available. He gave us time but never let us waiting. The food is really good. We enjoyed the primavera with chicken. While the portions were large, it was a very light meal. We really enjoyed the whole experience and are really looking forward to when we can go back!
Went here with my daughter for a mommy daughter day. Wanted to try it since I door dash here some. The food was excellent, they had fresh bread, and excellent food. The ONLY downfall was the braschetta, it was served on large pieces of cut French bagett bread and I tried cutting it in half so my daughter and I could try the different kids we ordered, it was so hard we couldn't get a knife through the bread without the bread flipping out of the plate and loosing the toppings on it. We asked for another one and was told that Washoe it supposed to be. Now I've had this dish before at other authentic Italian restaurants and never had this problem, but they would not make us another. But they didn't charge us for it and we got another free appetizer. The lady who waited out table was super friendly and very attentive. Other then the bruschetta being the way it was, this place was an excellent experience.
Matthew was a phenomenal and natural server! He was so attentive and on top of it the whole night! Did great handling a large party and incredibly friendly! We never had to wait for help— he was always one step ahead of us. Would come back just to experience such perceptive and personal service again!
The first time here we had a subpar experience but it was more than made up for. The owner took responsibility even when he did not have to. To me, I think it was just a misunderstanding, but kudos to ownership for giving us a wonderful dinner. If I am being honest, I must say this place is more than first class. The bread should be a delicacy as it was more than tasty. Our server was also top-notch and extremely attentive to the table’s requests. She was very friendly and made us comfortable. We had fried cheese as our appetizer and it was some of the best I have ever encountered! I then ate the baked ziti. 5 out of 5. Okay, I was wrong.. I was will admit it… this place IS awesome!!! Would recommend to a friend!
Great server, and the food was delicious.
To start, we waited 10 minutes for a waiter to finally approach us. Ordered an appetizer with our drinks and it never arrived. Finished our meal before we ever got refills (which we had to ask for). Received oil for bread. Bread never arrived, even though everyone who arrived after us got theirs. Chicken Parmesan - chicken tasted like it was microwaved & sauce tasted more like ketchup. Pappardelle Carbonara was good.
UPDATE 05.21.21
Upon returning service was excellent. Sam went the extra mile to make sure we were well taken care of. Our waiter John was attentive and pleasant. From the warm, fresh bread and indulgent Alfredo, to our main courses which were fantastic and ending it with the delicate tiramisu made for a great night out. We will be back!
Very good food. I enjoyed myself here a lot! And the waiter was super nice. His name was Matthew R and you could tell he paid attention. I hope he gets a raise!
The food was phenomenal! Our waitress, Evelyn, was professional and super sweet! The atmosphere was quiet and cozy. I definitely recommend this place for a date night.
The service, atmosphere and food were all great! I believe our waitresses name was Evelyn and she was so sweet, and very efficient. Best waitress I've had in a long time!
Recently dined at Russo's with a bunch of high school chums who get together when circumstances allow.
While plenty of appetizers were available, the table went with Spinach Artichoke dip and Italian Garlic Bread, both of which were quite good.
The Wife predicably went with the Chicken Parm, while I took a chance on the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, wondering just how spicy it might be.
As it turns out, we both scored big. The Wife's Parm was outstanding, with more than she could eat, much to her dismay.
My entree was decidedly spicy, but manageable. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the pasta just short of soft, with a little bite, and the sauce rich, spicy and addictive.
The place itself is gorgeous, tasteful and actually amenable to conversation despite the abundance of hard surfaces.
Wait staff were great, being there when we needed them, and never hovering.
Food was awesome and service was excellent. Evelyn took great care of us and made sure our kids were having fun! Highly recommend it.
Lovely upscale Italian in south Tulsa. The olive oil and bread is delicious and eggplant super tender!
Absolutely love this place! Always great service! Very clean and wasn't super overcrowded like every other nice place on a Friday night! Good prices for amazing food! I suggest a side order of Alfredo sauce for the bread that comes to ur table!! Made to order sauce so cheesy!!
Party of 6 for dinner and it was great. Our waiter Sapan was attentive and very responsive to all our requests. Our group enjoyed salads, pasta and pizza, all delicious. We will definitely go back!
