This is a rustic(!) place right on the highway. I was the only one eating there early on the Sunday I visited. As others have mentioned it’s cash only.
There was only outside seating on offer when I visited.
I sat outside at one of the porch barrels. The barrels are high and the chairs normal dining chairs, so it was a bit of an odd seating position.
The owner took my order after explaining the plates. She also brought out the food in shorter order.
I ordered the brisket, sausage and ribs. They were all very good. The sausage had a bit of spice. The ribs were tender without being over cooked. The brisket was very tender and flavorful.
The sides were baked beans and a pasta salad. They didn’t live up to the meat but were serviceable.
The owner was very friendly and we chatted for a moment when she came to check on me.
The food is great. The setting worked fine for me but you need to know this is not a cafeteria, picnic table or steakhouse setting.
Tyler's best lemonade hands down with the best BBQ . hand cut steaks everything cooked to order with friendly family environment
We LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Amazing barbecue - maybe the best I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Everything is outstanding - brisket, ribs, potato salad, the LEMONADE is great, comes in a refillable Mason jar! We're from out of state, but our son goes to Louisiana Tech, and every time we visit, we go out of our way (driving from Dallas to Ruston LA on the 20) to get the best barbecue anywhere. Tiny little place, but with more room in the back. Also you can dine on the porch, so it's pet friendly. Kerry and Kelly (Owners) are the sweetest, warmest folks and will make every visit a special meal. NEED TO get there on a weekend some time when they do their smoked prime rib lobster and shrimp!
First time here and it was delicious! Hands down the best bbq. The owner was super sweet, and took her time to take care of us. Also ask for bbq sauce on the side a bit spicy for my kids. Daughter had a burger (not pictured) sooo good. If you’re ever around this area definitely stop and support your local business.
Many people don’t know about this place, even though it’s been here for about 80 years! If you try their food, you will never EVER forget it! This rivals the best-of-the-best in Texas BBQ!! Small, inconspicuous place right on Hwy 31 between Tyler and Kilgore......BIG on personality/friendliness of owners and absolutely HUGE on flavor and value! Can’t wait to come back and try the moonshine lemonade and sweet tea!!
Great BBQ sauce and that moonshine tea is awesome. This is the perfect road side BBQ stop. Not tons of room but they make up for that with service and great food. The hot links were great and the brisket was beyond tender which for me wasn't perfect because I like crispy burnt ends but I understand that not everyone is the same. Don't pass this place.
As soon as we stepped in, I knew this would be great BBQ. It turned out to be the BEST BBQ that I have had in quite a while. I had a combo plate with melt-in-your-mouth brisket, smoked sausage, and smoked chicken; baked beans, potato salad, and all the trimmings. Wonderful ambiance and a smokey aroma that takes years to cultivate. I will definitely be back; I wasn't able to try the ribs today...
This place is very small but absolutely amazing. The folks there a wonderful, joyful and treat you like family. The brisket is the best I have ever had and yes I mean ever. The ribs are great. Will definitely be going back. My new go to place for bar b que and steak.
