Reviews Wilson's Secret Sauce

I lived in Houston TX at one point in my life so I know a thing or two about BBQ. You walk into Wilson's and it has that smoked-wood smell. The brisket (lean brisket) was pretty much as good as you can make it. Pulled apart easily, had a nice bark on it, had strong flavor. The BBQ sauce was also solid. For my sides, I had corn bread, Mac n Cheese, and baked beans. Corn bread was really good- the portion was very small though. The beans were good. The Mac N Cheese was a 'dry' mac and cheese which I normally don't like but this was DELICIOUS. BBQ isn't really a big deal up north so I haven't tried too many places around Philly but I can't imagine there are any places better than this in the area!

Finally got a chance to try this place! Super quick, staff was friendly. I got the smoked garlic parmesan wings, my wife got the buffalo chicken fries. You could definitely tell the wings were smoked as the bold smokiness rocked my taste buds before being followed up with a nice, light, garlic parmesan flavor. Buffalo chicken fries were fabulous as well. Fries were nice and crispy, sauce was plentiful. Even though they were spicier than my wife was expecting, she still enjoyed them thoroughly. Steve, the owner (great guy) came out and chatted with us for a couple moments and told me they also could take the smoked wings and throw them in the fryer for a little bit to take them to a whole new level...You can bet I will be back to try that very thing next time I go!

I'm going to approach this from a different angle. You don't often think about vegetarian food when you think about going to a barbecue restaurant. However, Wilson's shatters that thought! They do vegetarian the right way, on separate grills that have not been cooking any meat! Not only that, they don't just have one or two vegetarian items, they have an incredible selection! We're not just talking vegetables either. Plenty of meat substitutes like Impossible Burger and Beyond. The Impossible cheesesteak is a feast for your eyes and your mouth! Steve, the owner is constantly experimenting with new concoctions, one tastier than the other and that's hard to say because they all taste so good! I've been a vegetarian for 50 years and I've seen places come and go and very few of them have ever offered this kind of extensive menu, let alone the deliciousness that you get here. Many of my vegetarian friends frequent this restaurant quite often! So no matter if it's meat you're looking for or a non-meat meal, you won't be disappointed!

We’ve ordered takeout from here a number of times. These guys keep getting better with time. In addition to great food, they are also huge community supporters.

Hands down one of the best barbecue places around. This is a must visit place for anyone who loves barbecue. They have outdoor seating and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the brisket and pulled pork. The sweet potato corn bread is a must try.

Delicious food, easy to place an order over the phone and pick up safely. The pulled pork is flavorful and seasoned well. Great classic BBQ sauce. The brisket is tender and breaks apart easily but doesn't fall into tiny pieces which is perfect. The edges on the brisket are peppery and have a nice char and caramelization. Classic coleslaw was just right. Can't wait to order again!

If you are a fan of BBQ this is your place. Everything on the menu is DELICIOUS and I’ve tried almost all of it. Not only is their food great but the owners are too. Always giving back to the community and supporting other local small businesses.

The smoky grilled flavor is light and the meat is almost perfectly tender, except for the ribs which were the toughest. I could get all the meat off the bones but had to work for it. Personally I expect fall off the bone and super tender results with barbecue. The smoked wings are good with sauce. The brisket is not as flavorful as I would hope but still good for Delaware County/Pennsylvania. The Mac and cheese leaves something to be desired. I was hoping for some other or stronger flavors. I’d definitely come here again just for the wings. The team there was welcoming, super nice, and helpful. Overall, I had higher expectations. But for what is available in the area, they are pretty good. The servings are large for the style of food and I only spent $49.
