Good and service was excellent. My husband had the Cowboy burger. He loved that it was flame grilled. I had the Shepards Pie, best I’ve ever had. Service was fast and our waitress was very attentive and friendly.
The best soups in Venice FL downtown, my favorite the Lobster Bisque one in a friendly and family environment with outstanding customer service! 👏 🍲 🦞 😋

We were looking for a nice sit down that WAS NOT seafood and walked into this place! They had a GREAT band performing that night! The bar was full but for a Sunday night the dining area was pretty empty, granted it was after 8pm. This is normal for us as we tend to play hard all day on vacation.
Our server (I didn’t catch his name) seemed a little flighty.
The food: I really wanted a good steak. It’s been a long time and I don’t like giving my money to corporations like Blooming Brands. The filet was a reasonably priced steak and my husband actually found Ribs on the same menu. He LOVES a good rack of baby back ribs.
Unfortunately we were both disappointed with our meat selection. My steak was charged on the outside and overcooked. I ordered Medium and got Medium Well. My husband’s rack was dry and he didn’t order it that way.
The vegetables were great, the sweet potatoes fries were perfectly cooked, even the coleslaw was acceptable. I rather enjoyed the Paprika. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box.
The lemon Drop Martini that was the special that night was really sweet. I house Pino Grigio had legs and wasn’t perfectly paired with a steak that warm evening. My husband rather enjoyed the Hazy IPA on tap!
Parking wasn’t too bad that evening either! Idk if I’ll ever return but I still felt like a Queen that night!
Great food for everyone in the family. We were quickly seated and Chandler, our server was awesome! Our meals were delivered quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals. We would definitely return when we are visiting the street fair.
I don't get to the island often, but when I do I always hit T J Carney's. The bar is large, so I can find a spot. The place is always a happening place. I had an hour to kill, so I didn't eat, but their finger foods and menu items are to die for. I went back today 4-14-2022 to what is now known as just Carney's and had their specials of the day. Pastrami on rye with French frys and a pickle with a Tequila Sunrise. All were Very Good. The bar was quite today, but Jake took good care of me. 8-2-23 our group of 6 had lunch, while there a gentleman came over and said he was the owner and paid for our lunch. Thank You Tom
We absolutely love this place and never had a bad meal or service. Great atmosphere with outside dining right along the street in downtown Venice. Do try if you are in town for vacation!
Update to our recent visit just the other week May 2022
Food and service were amazing and since it's the off season the wait was nothing. Enjoyed being outside eating on the sidewalk and the nice breeze blowing. I have added more photos of our dinner and looking forward to our next visit down.
Came here on a Friday night. There was a festival across the street which made the restaurant Very noisy. Food was OK. I would definitely eat here again on a quieter night, hopefully. We had the clam chowder, lobster chowder, chicken, fajita, mahi sandwich, and corned beef sandwich. The clam chowder could use some more clams. The french fries are nice and crunchy, better than the sweet potato fries Everything else was good. Not all the food came out at the same time, and some of the items were missing, and not quite right. But otherwise service was fine. We’ll try the restaurant again on a quieter night.
I swear the potato skins were grown next to a nuclear power plant...they were the largest potato skins I've ever had, and they were full of flavor and scrumptious. The fish and chips were delicious, light batter on the fish allowed the cod flavor to rule your taste buds, not bulky batter. My wife's Rueben open faced sandwich was beyond her expectations as everything about it took her to flavortown and back. I must say the onion rings are so damn good you'd think you were at a state fair eating them.
Vickie was our server and she was absolutely awesome. Always on point and very friendly and personable as this was our first visit to T J Carney's.
Awesome job T J Carney's team...!!!
I had lunch here AGAIN the other day and it exceeded all expectations. I got the Corned Beef Reuben with Cole slaw and a diet soda and sat out front next to the street. It was like taking in all the flavor of Venice itself. As a matter of fact it practically transported me back in time 40 years to Lisbon Portugal for the charm of a sidewalk bistro. Just a classical moment in an outdoor venue of a non pretentious Irish Pub and restaurant. Food was great. service was wonderful. I have enjoyed this place SO many times before that I have to give it my heartiest recommendation. Comfortable atmosphere. And a nice roof over your head in case of a storm (which I got just as I was getting ready to leave.)
Went to TJ Carney's last night, we sat at the bar. Our server Chauncey was excellent. He recommended a couple drinks off their specialty menu which were outstanding. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, great neighborhood vibe. I had the wings and my wife had the French Onion Soup for appetizers. Both were delicious. Chauncey recommended I order the wings plain and use a local hot sauce that they carry in bottles behind the bar called First & Ten. It was so good I ended up buying a bottle to take home.
For dinner we spilt a fish & chips. Some of the best I've ever had! Nice and crispy outside and flaky white fish inside, the tartar sauce was also very good.
Just as we finished eating the band started playing. They were great. We had planned on going back to the hotel after eating but we ended up having a few more drinks and dancing for another hour.
All in all a great night out. We're going back tonight.
